  1. First off, I get the inflation of the dollar, poor economy, oil speculation, license rights, blah blah blah...$40 James Bond sideshow doll days from 2002 are over, I get it. But, I have a hard time looking between the 2008 Sideshow Raiders Indy priced at $90 and their recent TOD Indy priced at $230 and justifying that increase in cost. Sure, the sculpt is a hair better and maybe they tweaked the standard body buck, but less accessories (not even a leather jacket or separate head) and features. A justifiable tag for middleground in this instance would be closer to $150-175...imo...but hey, Hot Toys base price is around $230, so why not? The moving eye feature is fun, but...#$##, man. Mattel provided a great value on their Superman and Ghostbuster 12in figures. Sure the paint and sculpts could be improved...but for $170 more? No thanks.
  2. Haha I hear ya about making a habit out of it. 89 Bats and Joker are the most expensive toys I've paid out for. I don't regret it. I'm on the fence on getting Sideshow's TOD Indiana Jones...but id probably shell out for him if they had Mola Ram to buy as well Hot Toys are great high end collectibles but...I hate that sideshow and other companies feel they can match the quality, and more so, the price. There SHOULD be a middleground out there for 12in scale, but its big bucks or nothing. Here's looking forward to Hasbro's $50 Marvel Icons... hope they can do the same with Star Wars and Indy.
  3. Awesome stuff, Joe! You goin' for HT Jack next?
  4. Lots of Star Wars merch on clearance at Walmarts in my area. Shades of Phantom Menace: an incomplete Micro Machines collection.

I'm about to give up on finding the remaining few 3.75" figures. Ackbar, Nien Nunb, unmasked Kylo...no one in my area is restocking these. Amazon has been refusing to list them for retail price, they've been scalping them for an extra $4+ for months now.

  5. Even though the final two episodes were disappointing, Daredevil season 2 was pretty good overall.

Finally finished Jessica Jones and Star Trek TNG with the wife. DD season 2 is next on the list. I saw the episode where Punisher has him chained on the roof which was pretty sweet. Hearing DD try to talk Catholics and Mass with Punny made me love this character more.

Im the other way around...most of the time I can do without the hong kong phooey and mysticism. However, they did a great job intertwining both stories and keeping me interested...up to the last 2 episodes. The resolves were flat.

  6. Yeah... I'm gonna stick with this explanation: Disgusting, but at least more creative.
  7. I just wanna add two things: "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" and "Fury Road."
  8. And Will Smith as Will Smith in a Deadshot costume

If you asked me to sum up Deadshot's personality beyond "guy with guns", I couldn't do it. I think this is the third on-screen incarnation of this guy in the last 10 years. If DC doesn't care how they go at him, I don't either.

There's a big difference between say "Concussion" and "Welcome to Earf!" I guess this Deadshot is more "Bad Boys?" Good thing thing he wont have to boycott the Oscars for this one, I guess.

  9. He is on the cover... sort of.... Yep, a deleted shot of the car gets featured, but not Winston. And while we're at it, put Gb2 Slimer on the Gb1 cover, and Gb1 Slimer on the Gb2 cover. (pushes up nerd glasses)

Gimme a break...I liked Kyle Katarn.

I guess my biggest complaint is, "too soon". If I saw this after a years-long SW drought, I'd be more pumped. It looks just fine, but in the big picture, this is just one of the first in a never ending annual salvo of movies.

No "Fury Road" for 2016...oh well, "Rogue Two: Bothan Boogaloo" for 2020!

  11. Especially when you consider she does it without dipping into the Xena/Ripley cliché-jar. She was great throughout the film, but what really sold me was the quick smile during the Doomsday battle. THIS woman was brought up a warrior and has seen some $#!+! Can't wait for that solo picture. I liked what little she was in, but I had a hard time understanding what she was saying with her accent. I know, I know...go to bed old man.
  12. Didn't a newspaper imply that Lex flat out murdered (assumed shot) security guards in Superman: The Movie? And now we have him belittling people with Jolly Ranchers and peeing in mason jars. What's next?
  13. The Killing Joke animated film...I wish I could get excited by this, but the animation is more of he same: cheap and lacking effort.

    1. yojoebro82

      yojoebro82

Did you know DC's current answer to whether or not the Killing Joke is in continuity is "you decide"? No lie. Anyway, they've marketed DKR so much in the last few months, I'm ready for them to rehas....er...switch focus to the other super-dark, 30 year old classic Batman tale.

    2. yojoebro82

      yojoebro82

I have no problems with the original DKR or Killing Joke. It just seems DC is really focused on going to the well on both of these to get more $$$ than trying to think of...you know, NEW material. But unlike Miller, I doubt DC will get Moore to do a sequel to his story.

  14. Picked this up because I like WWE's create a superstar line, and I like Goldust. But he also makes a pretty decent King Tut for Batman to beat on!
  15. I saw the movie. It is garbage. But, thanks for being dismissive of me actually making the effort to see something and be able to form my own opinion. I've got a word for you, and the small group of fans resisting valid criticism: Ignorant. Enjoy your bliss (Or, if it helps you, Granny's Peach Tea.) And should you ever decide to take a script analysis, philosophy, or filmmaking course, you still have a few days to complete your FAFSA for the upcoming school year. File again, every year, around February!
  16. The winning side = fans of a money making turd? Congrats... but you could have joined up with the Autobots four movies back. At least Bay isn't pretentious about the #$## he's selling.
  17. I liked Robert Altman's Popeye for the little good it offers and for my own personal sentiments, but I will admit it's a terrible mess of a movie.
  18. Ooo...those reviews...

  19. Bernie is gonna look great on either the Etrigan or Kalibak bucks.
  20. I know, right? http://nerdist.com/indiana-jones-5-steven-spielberg-harrison-ford-2019-nerdist-news/ I know, I know, low blow taking a shot at Indy. Point being, if one director can push his franchise sequel, so can everyone else. I'm glad Steven is still doing it if only because his wannabe kissass protégé isn't sitting at the helm. Its hard enough to fathom that Spielberg could do another Indy that doesn't have Nazis. Every time he dismisses TOD and then refers to LC as Raiders 2...shudder. At least the time setting alone dictates some story originality. Sigh... if only it was as easy (pronounced lazy) as stormtroopers to first order troopers Hey, where's my Alias feature film franchise? Reboot?
  21. 1) The second act HAS to be the darkest. 2) I don't want the modern definition of movie badass...I don't want him to be a special effect or a stiff, emotionless weirdo. 3) Where are the trans folk? Kylo seems desperate for attention...Kylie Ren? http://nerdist.com/j-j-abrams-reveals-he-pitched-a-who-framed-roger-rabbit-sequel/ So many ideas to repackage, so little tale..er...time.

I'm really on the fence about this. Ford will be 75 ish by the time this gets to filming. I'm really not sure they are doing this because it will be good or because Ford will get 25 + million dollars for it.

    3. yojoebro82

      yojoebro82

Well the answer to why it's being done is just like all the other sequels/ reboots: It's a proven franchise and no one has to come up with anything truly new and unique. That's just a fact of modern Hollywood. Whether it's good or not, we'll have to wait and see.

The League sucked, but Sean Connery was still kicking ass at 73 as Alain Quartermain. Surely "Junior" deserves a chance to show the old man up by a few years.

  23. Picked up old Han and resistance Rey thanks to a friend that manages a local geek shop. Now on to playing in a SW universe where your heroes don't die ignominiously!
  24. Found a Gwen yesterday! Now to make her right...
