You need to upgrade to muted colored, face printed, actor specific, with additional option part Marvel Figuarts

Ha! I've dipped my toes in that water! I have the figuarts Civil War Cap and Iron Man, Iron Man mark III and Justice League Wonder Woman and Batman. They are really awesome, even if they're a little pricey.

Why don't you go ahead and purchase them. Let the Animated Justice league warm your cozy shelves with their vibrant cartoon aesthetics.

Too busy spending my money on muted colored, face printed, actor specific Marvel Legends! (For real! I have a serious lack of focus when it's comes to collecting, and it's getting worse as I get older.)

No these cartoon styled toys with minimal articulation should be closer to a $12-$15 price point.

I'd be okay if these were $20 or under. I understand they are a specialty line and not a mass retail line, but it's not like DC Collectibles has to pay a licensing fee. If they're like the Batman Animated figures, most sculpts are unique and there's seems to be little re-use.

  4. I finally had a chance to open my McFarlane Picard this morning. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by the articulation. To me it seems on par with the DST (non-rubber shirt) Next Gen figures, maybe even a little better since the new Picard can spread his legs for an 'action stance'. I only wish the red of his shirt was a little brighter. I think the likeness is pretty good too. Can't wait for Kirk now!

Well worth the investment. Do you see that articulation ?

The hard part to swallow is buying the sub and then the figures are about $28 each. The only way they're $25 is if you buy all eight at once. Seems like you should get a discount if you buy the sub, sort of a reward/incentive for signing up. Seems silly not to makes these a mass market release.

Is it me or does Jay C always have the best giveaways? This guy is on fire when it comes to giving back to his fans

For sure. I've only been watching his review for a little while, but he seems like a real down-to-earth guy. The photo galleries on this site are usually the deal breaker for me when it comes to on-the-fence buying decisions. Very few sites do galleries like this anymore. Thanks Jay C!

They announced it last year. DST still has their Star Trek License as well though I think McFarlane can only make stuff for the new show.

Yeah, it's actually kinda confusing. McFarlane's making the 7" Kirk and Picard, but DST has shown a 7" Borg figure they plan on releasing. I say give the figures to McFarlane and let DST focus on the ships.

  8. Boy, I hope they correct the colors on that Stalker? I know it was mentioned from the Con that the colors were inverted but they can lose that yellow tone altogether and go with this color scheme...

What's with the Blue eyes on Roadblock and now Stalker? @hmmm@

I don't post much, but I gotta agree. I'm a big fan of this line so far, and I'm looking forward to Stalker more than any other figure. Hopefully he'll be available with this original colors, including a darker green beret...

  9. I'm very happy with these figures so far. I have to imagine the sculptors/designer had thought of alot of the issues we're debating right now. I'm sure they wanted this line to be the best it could. I'm also sure the restaints of budget, time and corporate management tied their hands a little. Given the process that occurs in any design related profession, I think the team did a pretty good job. Sure I'd really like a Flint with his own body and Snake-Eyes with ninja footwear. Seeing as we're reusing parts already, It looks like Hasbro Corporate felt they were taking a financial gamble on this line and didn't want to pour a ton of money into it. They owe us nothing but a product if they choose to make one. We owe them nothing but a purchase if we choose to buy said product. Just my 2 cents.

All right, business major, how's this?

They owe us because we've generated good will value for their franchise.

I guess I just feel the origin of this product line (from Hasbro's point of view) wasn't "we owe it to the fans" so much as "how many can we sell with the least amount of cost up front". I think they saw the 25th Anniversary as a good vehicle to use in selling product, to get some non die-hards to to buy in to something. Hence the reused Star Wars bases and body parts. I'm pretty sure the people at Hasbro don't feel like they owe us. In the same right, I'll buy every figure I like and leave the ones I don't because I don't "owe" Hasbro anything. It seemed like only months ago many people assumed the 3 3/4" line was coming to an end, included some of the people on GI Joe exclusive boards. That good will value is only useful if it translates into dollars at some point. With as little confidence as was going around a few months ago, as little 3 3/4" product that was available in '06 at retail, and all the Frankenjoes that where part of '05 I wonder how far the good will value actually got us. As many people have mentioned, if this line continues past 25 figures, I won't be because Hasbro feels the owe us, It'll be because enough figures sold to make Hasbro feel like the can sell more and make a profit. I'm not trying to argue, just trying to bring another point of view into the mix.

Oh, and I'm a designer by trade.

  11. The interesting thing to me is that they probably could've gotten more mileage from newly sculpted shorter sleeved arms for the Flint figure. Those arms could be reused for Spirit, Breaker, Rock n' Roll, Footloose, Clutch, Mutt, Recondo, Cutter, and Mainframe. Even more if you want to extend the list to include the '87 figures...
