Well I got my wife a new digital camera for her bday this year, the Sony Cybershot 500 6.0 Megapixel.
So, I am seriously in AWE of some of the pictures some of you guys make out there... I must learn to do that, so In a very very amateur way, I have started learning the camera. I don't have any of those super cool props you guys have, so I took some plain pics against a white backdrop, and some outdoor pics.
Here's the best ones.....
Let me know what you think... Tips are more than welcome, they are requested... if anyone wants to share their advice, expertise, techniques, on photo taking, lighting, Angles, ANYTHING PLEASE DO..
Also anyone got any advice on how to aquire, make, or buy, some of the great props you guys use, PLEASE DO.

I picked up my set a couple of days ago. I wont be opening it yet, because I'm saving all my new joe stuff for the rest of the year for Christmas.
ANyways I'm not disputing that this is a nice set, but I can't help but think some people are overrating it because they have been so starved for new Joe product for so long that its clouded their vision. I Really hate that Snake Eyes body that 2 out of 3 of the Plauge Troopers use... In fact I hate it enough that if I hadn't been starved for new Joe product myself I might have skipped this set. Many people have complained about the Grunt sculpt, and again when is was re-issued as Salvo...... Its a nice set. I like the painted weapons, and the concept of the package.... Those pictures certainly make it look super sweet... but also, For me at least.... it's been MONTHS since there was anything new... so just chasing it down at TRU and finding it has re-ignited my Joe passion... At least for a week or so.

I don't think everything new sculpt has been crap, whoever posted that I think its a little harsh. When I go back through my collection from the past several years, I can easily say that Joe Vs. Cobra was AWEFUL. From t-crotches, to Hugely oversized figures, to weird hand positions that cant hold a weapon, There is just not anything redeeming about Joe Vs. Coba. However with each new wave things got just a little better. By Valor Vs. Venom I think there was at least 50/50 good and crap.... Then by wave 7 things were darn near perfect... Sadly just when they got it right..............

AHHH YES FINALLY! Now I can get the RHINO and the Bat Attack! Thank the makers!
Now if only they had Viper Lockdown still... or some Cobra Troopers.
ANyone have any idea how long this promo code will run? I have to make sure I at least buy me the Rhino and Bats I need while its cheap.

I concur... a great idea. I know somebody here has that tape.... But since we are the only two here discussing it and obviously neither of us have the tape, I think I will e-mail a friend of mine that collector extrordinaire... I'm sure he has it, and the capability to mp3 it. If I can get him to burn it to a CD and bring it to botcon saturday, then I can make you a copy of it.

Got mine in Lexington, KY today. They told me they got 6 or 7 in on the truck last night and when I left less than an hour after the store opened this morning there were only 4 left.
I was pleased to use my 5.00 off a purchase of 25 bucks or more I had been carrying for a month. When I went to check out, the girl told me, I'm sorry you can't use that coupon for this, its 5 dollars off a purchase of 25.00 or more and this is only 24.99. I just stared at her blankly and after a moment of stunned silence said "Are you serious?" Then without any further discussion she just rang in the coupon and sold me the joes.
um.. whatever.
I still have a 10 dollar off a purchase of 50 bucks or more too... Thats for my 2 viper packs I'll buy when they come out. W00t.

hehehe yeah it will be a sad day when TRU goes out of business. Just like the death of arcades I hate to see the death of Toy Stores too. Just another magical thing from my childhood rapidly becoming extinct. However aside from the magic of a store entirely dedicated to games and toys, There isn't much TRU offers other than higher prices. All they have going for them that makes me ever want to go there are TRU exclusives... (Namely 3 3/4 Joes) but the prices keep rising on those too. 25.99!?!? Woah.. I'm assuming the viper pack will be the same price, but maybe not since its not new sculpt. I hope not. Fortunately for me I have a 5.00 off coupon, so I'm scrambling to find my steel brigade pack before oct 15th when it expires.

Thats awesome that your home. I bet that was a GREAT feeling to spend the first night back with your family and in your own bed......

What I would do, is buy 3 Plauge Troop 6 packs. Then since TRU gives you 3 months on returns, I would wait until Viper Six packs hit the shelves, and exchange two plauge trooper sets for 2 viper packs.

I think his question on what do you consider complete meant, which figures? Do you mean 1 figure of every character in the comic? Or did you mean, the 3 TRU Figs from 98, the current Comic Figs, and a CON Dragonsky?

Some cool stuff. I liked the vintage Joes....... I'm always happy to get some new vintage joes in my collection... My collection started out all vintage but then due to lower prices, higher availability and fear of buying it all on ebay later, my collection has become unbalanced and I have far too much new stuff. I need to get back on track.

Peter Cullen was the original Optimus Prime. Also did voices for Airborne, Nemesis Enforcer, and Zandar for Sunbow.
Richard Newman was Rhinox on Beast Wars, but the only Joe voice he did was Iron Klaw on Extreme.
Blu Mankuma - Hs was Tigatron on Beast Wars, Freight on Extreme, and Heavy Duty on the recent CG G.I. Joe cartoons [spy Troops, and VvV].
Scott McNeil has done the most voices. He did several major Beast Wars characters, and both Destro and Gung Ho on the CG cartoons, and Cobra Commander on both the DIC, and Extreme cartoons.
And finally Paula Newstone is only credited "additional voices" for the DIC cartoon. So she did work on G.I. Joe, but didn't do any named characters.

So in just a few weeks the Transformers convention will take place less than 3 miles from my house. Of course I will be going. I heard from the most hard core Joe collector I know, that many of the voice actors that will be present at the Transformers convention also did voices for several Joe characters. He gave me a list of who did what that will be there if your curious.
At any rate, would it be incredibly weird of me to take some Gi Joe file cards into the convention and have these voice actors sign the file card of the character they voiced? What do you think?

I'm no pro... I see what looks like a silver paint smear on the leg, the lips and face look crisper, and the knife is all blue..
But you know what, these are all variations I have found in factory carded figs from hasbro. I bought some Toys R us Coba infantry sets... On some of them, the grenades were painted gold, on some of them they werent painted at all. That takes care of the knife. I've got paint smears on tons of my new figs... And Ive definately had two or more identical figures where some of them had crisper facial paint details than others.
I think we need more up close pics. The silver definately looks like silver and not chrome. Ive never heard of chrome fading, more chipping. But if he says the inside of the figure is chrome too... Why would a customizer paint the inside??? I think this may be real. Especially considering the dealer had other foreign figs including carded.

Yeah I love the camels. I even drove across town to the other big lots to get two more of them because for some bizarre reason the Big Lots near my house only got 1 camel. I also picked up some bunk bed sets.

Well here is my current living room display... and don't worry I'm not going to barrage you all with pictures of my shelf two times a day. I took those pics of the first year joes a couple of weeks ago, and I usually dont change my shelf but every few weeks at most.
I think DTC Major Bludd is a natural fit with the VvV Single Card Sand Vipers. Also, as I'm sure you can figure out, this shelf was inspired by a run to Big Lots and a Power Team Elite score.
