My parents actually bought me one in the 80s. I really couldn't believe it happened. I remember waking up every night for a week and the first thing I did was rolled over to see if it was still there because I was sure it was a dream. This Flagg is not my original Flagg. I sold all my original GI Joes in the late 80s for a check written exactly to the penny for the amount it would cost to purchase a NES. I put an ad for my Joes in my dad's employee newsletter. Much to his surprise, his boss was an adult collector. An adult GI Joe collector in the 80s was a pretty rare find for sure. I got this Flagg around 2000 when I was working at Funcoland. I aquired a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga and sold it on Ebay, then used the proceeds to buy a Flagg. I kept it up through several homes but as I continued to have kids my space got less and less. It went into the crawl space almost 11 years ago. I am amazed it still looks as good as it does. The top is a bit yellowed but it doesn't look terrible at all.

Took these the day I finished assembling it. Before the missing pieces started arriving.

Well a few weeks ago I decided to pull out my old U.S.S. Flagg from storage and put it back together. I didn't have very high hopes, as it had been shoved around in a variety of tubs and boxes, some pieces just wrapped in a trash bag, in my crawl space for just over a decade. I blogged the progress of cleaning it and assembling it on Instagram. Well, long story short, what I ended up with was a fairly decent looking U.S.S. Flagg that was about 90% complete. So of course I ventured off to eBay and as of last night I won a working microphone and will have a 100% complete U.S.S. Flagg. I will admit, I have used a few repro pieces: Keel Haul's Pistol, Antennae top Cap, and 5 of the 16 Deck Clips. The rest is all authentic vintage parts. I am rather pleased. Will post pics in a bit.

Cool. I may pick up a few more. I stopped by Kroger yesterday and lucked out. They randomly had a bin of Power of the Primes Deluxe figures for 9.99. I managed to find two I didn't have yet. So I guess that's my toy budget for this week!

So what do you guys think about this line? So far I have only picked up Sideswipe. However, he is FANTASTIC. A great deluxe Sideswipe. I've seen a few comments on Youtube that the rest of the line is not as good. What are your thoughts? Do I want to go all in on this line? Phanstar

Any advice on where to find some nice Joe sized accessories? I see lots of dioramas with chairs and other items. I would love to hear suggestions. I remember long ago I got some nice bunk beds and lockers from a knock off line at Big Lots. But seems now adays people have all sorts of cool things. Even scale sized arcade machines, etc. Any advice or suggestions?

Oh wow that is great! It has been a while since I got a vintage Joe. I should remedy that sometime soon. Long ago I sold off all of my vehicles because I didn't have space. Now I have space again, so I am really itching to get some of the vehicles back.

To any of my old friends from around the 2000s still lurk here from time to time. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays! Hope you are all well!

Yeah I really like this.

Those figures look awesome Devilbat. Thanks for sharing the pics. I may have to pay more attention to them when I am making my toy runs. If I catch some of the deep sales you have stumbled into I might have to indulge myself.

Scored a Power of the Primes Walgreen's Exclusive Wreck-Gar today and an Optimal Optimus yesterday. Been a darn good week for Transformer hunting.

What upcoming Transformers toy are you most excited about?
Phanstar replied to Phanstar's topic in Transformers
Oh cool! I had never heard of that one but I googled it and it looks amazing. It feels like there is so much going on in the Transformers world anymore it is hard to keep track of it. I mean, there is at least 3 if not 4 toy lines being run simultaneous at general retail stores. Plus what seems like several online specific lines for collectors. It's a bit overwhelming. Definitely a big difference from the early 2000's when it went from Beast Machines, to RiD. Then there was the occasional noteworthy Japanese release or something. -
I would absolutely buy these. That's a fantastic idea.

What sites do you guys go to in order to know what is out, what is coming out and what is going on? I am sort of just getting back into toy collecting. Seems a lot has changed. Like what the hell is it just me or are there at least 3-4 Transformers lines being released all at the same time?

I have been browsing Big Bad Toy Store checking out the in stocks and the pre orders. Man I am STOKED to get that Power of the Primes Optimal Optimus. It looks like an amazing toy. What upcoming Transformer can you just not wait to get your hands on? Phanstar
