  1. I have bought every issue of Devils due from day one till now. Only because Bad Joe is better than no Joe. But seriously I go back and read this stuff and its total crap. The stories are lame, and discombobulated, half of them never even finished?!?!? There are a few main problems:

the characters have no personality. If I were just reading dialogue bubbles I would never be able to tell one guy from the next. No personalities AT ALL. AMATEUR.

Another annoyance I have is this insistance that EVERY story arc must be 4 issues long. When I go back and read the marvel run there would be several interesting stories taking place at once, and sometimes one would get put away for an issue or two then come back up, sometimes being resolved several issues later. I think Devils Due causes themselves problems with this 4 issue story arc. They sometimes get a good start and a decent foundation for a story, then they have to rush and resolve everything in one super size last issue that just doesnt feel satisfying, or lacked the appropriate build up to make it significant.

To summarize this rant, NONE of the writers i've seen so far can handle Joe. This title needs to be given to someone else. Preferably someone with SOME military knowledge... Oh how I miss The lingo and abbreviations of the old marvels.

  2. I agree... Thank god for the Declassified series and the Special Missions books. THey are however Very enjoyable reads. If your hating joe comics these days, I recommend at least reading Snake Eyes Declassified, Gi Joe Declassified, and the Special Missions book. Those were all very good IMO.

  3. Is it possible that this comic did not come out yet in all areas??? Neither of my local comic shops claim they got it even though it has been on my folder list for over a month??? Im freaking out bigtime here... I was REALLY looking forward to this one!!

  4. Honestly more than anything I just want the comic book. My local comic shop has an original copy for 15 bucks but I feel ##$%$#ed paying 15 for a comic when I coulda paid ten for a reprint plus three figs.

  5. when i was young my cousin pressued/bullied me into trading my sears exclusive Crimson CAT for a freaking bucket of smurf figures. Then I complained to my parents and his and they said "Well if you agreed to the trade thats too bad" and he drove home with my freaking CRIMSON CAT and I got a bucket of stupid smurfs.

    Im still mad about that.

    :(

  6. I hope this works out. There are many stories I would rather see... But this one could lay the foundation for many more.

Im anxiously looking forward to GI JOE : Declassified, although I will be dissapointed if there is no reference to Shooter in the comic (I expect there wont be).

I think some more obscure yet still mainstream characters would be great choices. Personally I would pick Scrap Iron for the first Cobra to declassify. Also I think Stalker would be an interesting story. From Gang Lord to Real American Hero??? There has to be a story there.

  7. I think this figure rules. I have to wonder what all the complaining is about year after year. I think peoples negative thoughts about Mastercollector make them predisposed to hatred of any figure they make.

Cobra Mortal rules, I hope I can ebay one.

However I dont see why on Earth Major Bludd needs troops??? I've always percieved Major bludd as just using cobra troopers. CC calls him up offers to pay him some money if he leads a ground assault on a place. Bludd shows up, They work out the plans with the baroness, then Major bludd takes the troops and the tanks, and leads the ground assault as per his commission.

Giving him his own army just really changes who and what Bludd is to me. I just see no reason he should ever need his own troops.

  8. Yeah I have to agree... Plenty of time to buy it my butt. It was listed as sold out nearly constantly. Fortunately for me, friday I took off work early to run some errands and stopped by TRU and managed to snag 2 there. Of course now that I have them in hand I have to admit I LOVE this figure and would like about 10 more of them. Sigh... Why does hasbro continually make the shortest supply of the coolest cobra troops? At any rate, I'm not panicked yet. I still think many more shipments of wave 3 will show up at TRU or HTS, or both.

P.s. Someone once posted some pics of wave 4, but now I cant find them... Anybody remember where they are?

Wow Night Watch is now listed as Out Of Stock too.

  9. Ok That is funny from a humor point of view but its not entirely accurate. I think Hasbro has really screwed around a lot with this line and like was said before caused a lot of confusion and dismay among the collectors. For starters I can remember in 99 when they were still doing the ARAHC Joes I thought they were great. But even at that time many collectors I spoke to were in an outrage at the cheaper plastic and the pale white skin tones a lot of those figures had. To me however I took it for what it was. It wasn't 1985 all over again, but it was a tiny nod to nostalgia for collectors to enjoy. Some classic molds repainted in new often times more realistic paint schemes... GREAT. These figures could fairly easily be used with your vintage figures. Good times if you ask me.

Then came Joe Vs. Cobra. At this point Hasbro got EVERYTHING all WRONG, and it took them several years to fix it. Bit by bit it came together. First off, JvC would not have been so bad if they had marketed it as a COMPLETELY NEW TOY LINE. Something like the new MOTU figures. Mattel never even implied that this was a continuation of their old toy line. It was a new toy line based on the universe and characters of the old toy line. The figures had lots of throw backs to vintage figures, Like Ram Mans action feature and such. But Hasbro tried to make these HUGE, BULKY, T-Crotched figures, and package them in with Vintage repaints and try to play it off like Hey their still the same toy. THEY WEREN'T. Year by year the figures got a bit better and a bit better, But most everything in JvC and Spy Troops was total crap. By the time VvV was around things were getting better and at least half of it was not totally unporportioned. People might not like the theme but at least the figures were getting better. Dr. Mindbender comes to mind as a great figure. Then just like you said the final wave was VERY close to perfect.

As for DTC I really love almost all of these figures. Even the ones that are repaints of JvC molds I hated. Why? Hmmm I have to write it off as total nostalgia. The packaging helps, but then also MOST of the DTC figures are a complete throwback to their original vintage figure. For example Footloose. Probably my least favorite DTC fig, but I still love him...

  10. If you have not joined the club by now, it's too late to get this years free figures... If you go to the convention, I would suggest you register there. If that does not bode well for you, I apologize. The convention is a great place to renew/sign up because they have done the "get three of our exclusives for the past years" when you do it all there...

    -Kevin

Ok that doesnt exactly answer my question tho. There is no hope of me going to a convention, Thats way out of my budget. The problem is EVERY single time I've had some money and thought about joining, I hear the same thing. "If you didn't join already you wont get this years figure" Ok I get that. So WHEN do I join to make sure I get next years figure??? Next week? In a few months? Jan 07? Tell me, and I will join.

Although I just had another thought, If I knew someone else who was going to the convention, could I send some money with them, and let them sign me up? Does that work? Or does it have to be me in person signing up?

  11. Thats cool... That makes the price of membership a little less blah. So heres the next newbie question. If the cut off date is tomorrow for recieving a free figure then, when is the next best time to join? I assume they do a figure each year, so if I joined say next week, or next month, would I get next years figure? Or would it be better to wait and if so, when should I join to make sure I get next years figure?

  12. No one has bothered to mention that the stands that have come with figures since JvC relaunch or even the stands that came with 99/2000 RAH releases have thicker pegs than vintage stands. If your using modern stands with vintage figs, your running a HUGE risk of heel crackage... Just ask my Tollbooth and Cobra Soldier. :)

  13. ARRRRRRRGH After all this wait I ordered all of my wave 3 last week... It should be here sometime this week... and NOW they have a discount code... This makes me soooooo mad!! Anything I can do???

    Phanstar

  14. So I am so confused. Do you have to be a member to order these figures or not? And if you arent a member will they cost more than 32 dollars?

I have been thinking of joining for some time now. You get a free figure annually if you join?

    Answers are always appreciated ;)
