  1. But you were for a 100% banning of liberals in schools, which... y'know what? Would affect me. Purely your point of view, and I think it's a crock. You might want to restate your position as "my opinion is... etc," because unless you can show me clear cut reasons why this is true, not just generalities, then I'm not going to hear it. I can make many viable arguments for why conservatives are doing more damage to democracy and the nation (*cough-cough* Patriot Act *cough-cough* Unbridled spending with very little end in sight *cough-cough* tax cuts for the rich), but this is a forum about toys, and I don't feel like writing that much anyways. Okay, in both of these examples you're talking about /some/ liberals but instead making broad generalizations. I'm a liberal, and I own many guns, have an NRA membership, shoot every weekend, etc... I'm just socially liberal: People should be able to have abortions. Poor people should be helped (a society, in my opinion, should be judged upon how they treat their poorest). People should have healthcare. Gay people should be able to get married. Etc. Etc. Etc. Also, there is an even smaller minority of liberals that actually believe in no war under any circumstances. If we were attacked, a la Pearl Harbor, I think you'd have a lot of trouble finding liberals that wouldn't agree with a counter attack. This is the part of your argument that I actually hate most. Do you teach in a public school or work in a university? Because I do. No, this isn't a toy fan talking about what they think of Hasbro. This isn't conjecture. I'm a college professor (a young one, but I've got a surprising amount of experience). I've taught at a few schools in Boston and I've also taught all across the state of Florida. Presently I teach at an accredited state university that has 40,000 students. And I know allllllllot of people who teach in history departments, and the vast majority of them are conservative. And there aren't many professors at all who do what you describe --- changing the facts to suit agendas. It's total bull. When you start talking about "the evilll liberal professorsss who make up lieeessss" you sound like Rush Limbaugh or a half a million other talking head pundits. Once again, opinion passed as fact. No. I don't have to do any of that. I'm a moderate liberal, but that doesn't mean I have to police democrats and the like. I don't see moderate conservatives like McCain (who I respect) taking up arms against the Christian Coalition. Once I see him do that, maybe I'll go tell the Green Party to quiet down.
  2. First of all, I don't agree with the Code Pink campaign. I think it's a pretty dumb idea, particularly when there are /much/ bigger problems in the United States that require this level of effort to find a suitable solution. But, Darque Angel, your rhetoric against all nascent liberalism is pretty obnoxious. Everything you've said applies equally to conservative extremism and the neo-con agenda. If you want to ban "liberalism" from public schools (which is definitely savaging America! Oh my!), then why not eliminate extreme conservatism too? Why not end the creationism debate early and just teach purely scientific theories? And I think it's pretty funny that you think it's liberalism and political-correctness that causes much of the "ban-ban-banning!" in our schools. In fact, I've always thought it was more the religious right/conservative extremist/do it for the families! crews that were responsible for such things. It wasn't the liberal agenda that caused book bannings/burnings of "Catcher in the Rye" many years ago--- was it? Extremism in all forms should be banned, imho. But for the record, I'm a whacked-out liberal. I mean, just look at all my pot-smoking posts. Oh... and even worse... I teach college! I'm one of your 99% that should be fired! Your kids at risk! I will infect them with my liberalism! I can't even control myself, my tendrils of liberality seek new prey!
  3. I like all the waves, honestly. I mean, some of the figures are hit and miss for me (I hope this is the last use of the hard drive body that we see for a loooooong time), but here are my rankings anyways: 1: Wave 2 --- love Bludd and the Range Vipers are probably my favorite figs in DTC thus far. 2: Wave 1 --- All of the figs were good, but none were excellent. 3: Wave 3 --- don't have it yet, but I'm really only incredibly excited for Low-Light.
  4. I vote yay. I go to your site all the time and really do wish I could read some of the older reviews.
  5. I bought both packs. Should be here in a few days. I'm too excited for Wave 3 --- but I'm not willing to pay 32.99 (or 33.99) for 6 figures. But I will pay a buck and a half extra for each comic pack. It's fair to give etailers that much, at least.
  6. Yes. I think he's going to be very popular; I look forward to sticking Med-Alert's head on a new-sculpt Crimson Guard body to make 'Crimson Guard Male Secretary!' The possibilites are endless.
  7. I believe he should come as you see him, complete with butt ugly box art and pile of crappy sound attack weapons. He'd be great for Wave 5. I'm kidding (but if you took this seriously... uhhh... dunno what to tell you). Hurray for crappy half-hearted kitbashes!
  8. I like the Dreadnoks because they remind me of the bad guys in the Mad Max films.
  9. I'm worried. Does this new sale mean: 1.) They're closing up DTC? Or even that it's not working out so well? 2.) That they need to make space for DTC Wave 3? 3.) They want a holiday sales boost? What do you all think?
  10. Pretty cool. I ordered another Range Viper and 3x Cobra Night Watch. I just hope they don't trick me and put up Wave 3 like... tomorrow, forcing me to spend the rest of my money.
  11. I have a JOE-Verse, but it has nothing to do with GI JOE. I know that's sacrilege, but, whatever, it's what I do. I've always loved GI JOE for the actual construction of the action figures, the scale, and the realistic weaponry. I also don't mind the supernatural/sci-fi elements either. And I mix new sculpt, old sculpt, RAH, whatever... I mix it all. I know, that probably makes me a bad person.
  12. I really like this set. It looks great! *** I heard that Mastercollector is already shipping DTC Wave 3? Can anyone confirm this? When does this mean that HTS will get the stuff... I'm too damn excited, I want it now!
  13. Hey, Gainesville-ites... I stopped by Big Lots today. They had lots of BTR (an obscene amount for like $1.99), and they also had the new-style HISS, the ugly-ass one with the craning neck, and the GI Desert Hummer, both for $9.99. Not sure if that's a good deal, but I bought both.
  14. I live in Gainesville too and try to hunt out vintage JOEs where I can. There don't seem to be many. But there is a lot of BTR shite over at Tuesday Morning!
  15. Honestly, for me it's mostly the scale. If they'd been 6 inch I probably would've been less disgusted with them as a whole. I just think 8 inch figures are both too small and too big, all at once. But I think the major problem with my acceptance of them is that they aren't GI JOE to me. They're blocky anime dolls with GI JOE slapped on big plastic packages. But they don't remind me of many of the things JOE represents (for me). But I'm a collector and I honestly don't think Sigma 6 is for me.
  16. Just for the record, satire is a "literary work in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, or wit." --- Satire has a rich history and is a perfectly valid form of social critique and/or argument. I saw your version of "satire," your suggestion that Cobrasaboteur and VH were "going out" thereby explaining their defense of each other. I guess I just didn't find it to be particularly ironic or witty. Rather, I thought it was more like 8th grade. But once again, we're in the realms of opinion--- namely, mine.
  17. Sorry, buddy, that sounds like a boast to me. Is that what he's done? I dunno, man. I've been following all the posts. I think he's been spouting opinion... and, uhhh, leaving it mostly at that. I haven't seen him spout opinion and push it as fact. And even if he is pushing opinion as fact, at some point you need to cut your losses and not get so heated. Life is too short. It's really not worth it. Dunno about this either. Arguments are meant to enlighten, not browbeat. If you're trying to debate, why not try to come to a place of undestanding, rather than spew all this negativity? Gsbcr, I've seen you make some savvy posts that are clearly about enlightening people. But then I've also seen you spew some nastiness that is just about putting someone else down.
  18. Damn. I didn't realize that Saboteur and VH were going out. I wonder how long they've been dating? Now wait, wouldn't that mean that all three of you are going out? I mean, if they're tag-teaming you, right? So that means it's a three-way. Maybe VH and Saboteur are non-exclusive? So then it would be, like, swinger-style? Pretty hot. Seriously, enough with the latent homophobia. Oh, no. I agree with them too. I just haven't been voicing it.
  19. I don't know why you keep questioning people's intelligence when you're still not capitalizing correctly. *** Gscbr, don't you know that your venomous tone is somewhat embarrassing? I mean, seriously, I'm embarrassed reading it. It's sad. Now, you can commence to call me stupid. Or better yet: Spout your credentials again! I do so like it when people boast!
  20. And I'm an English Major (and a CRW MFA + Technical/Business/Lit Analysis/Composition Professor at a major university) and you should capitalize yo' shite at the beginnin' of a sentence, yo.. Bwahahahaha.
  21. Congrats, man! I'd actually stopped collecting JOEs for a few waves, until DTC came around. Now I'm furiously buying everything I can... I think you'll like that pack in particular. It's rad.
  22. I'm curious how long people think DTC will last. I'm hoping it goes for the looooong haul, as I'm afraid that this might potentially be the last incarnation of 3.75". I hope I'm wrong.
  23. How do they even make the convention JOEs anyways? They're not officially made my Hasbro, are they?
  24. Dude, that was my favorite JOE episode ever. Very strange and quasi-Lovecraftian. It still trips me out.
