Referred to upcoming school break as "Christmas break" instead of "holiday break" in my morning message to public school second graders, have yet to be relieved of duty for the day.

Funny you should say that. My sister worked at Wal-Mart for quite a while, and one year they were actually given an edict from corporate headquarters forbidding them to say "Merry Christmas." It had to be "Happy Holidays" or nothing.
But even so I don't find Happy Holidays to be offensive, do you? I don't buy into this war on Christmas sham. The Holiday most celebrate is so commercialized and removed from the original religious intention.
Might as well be Merry X-mas.
