None of the purple ones have been recalled. They're still more common than the black ones. And so far, I haven't seen a black Tumbler anywhere else other than TRU.

Good news for those in the L.A. Valley area: TRU in Porter Ranch has over a dozen black Tumblers in stock. You'll find them at the right side of the store with the other Batman toys - not at the main Batman Begins section, which still has the battle-damaged ones on display.

Merchandising is a key to successfully promoting a comic book franchise, but has DC gone too far in promoting Batman? Holy overstock, Batman! Batman 13" Color TV - $109.99?!? I can get a 20" at that price! Batman DVD Player - $84.99 and no progressive scan? Hell no. Batman Begins Personal CD Player - $34.99 and it doesn't even play MP3s. Batman Begins 35mm Camera with film - $14.99. Aren't there digital cameras going for that price? I'd also mention the alarm clocks, but they're actually pretty cool, especially the Nightlight LED Alarm Clock and the Batmobile Alarm Clock.

Still pretty rare here in the L.A. area, though. Targets, TRUs and K-B Toys are still overstocked with the purple battle-damaged version. As for the 1/18 diecast, I hope Target will sell it. Last time around, I got the 1989 Batmobile for $19.99. And I pity the fool who bought theirs at Sharper Image.
