  1. Ok so I found this site by accident

Ive made one random post. My background is that I had alot of keen toys when I was kid quite an eclectic range. Then one day I gave up some pretty choice items at a garage sale we had and that was it for toys for me.

Until one day I was starting a shop, and I was going to garage sales for second hand items like cds and movies books etc.. and I saw a really cool gi joe style jeep and a huge bag of action figures for nothing and I couldnt resist buying up toys at every sale we went to, almost as if guided by some strange toy spirit guides.

And then I got into buying and selling toys by accident and now I have a small collection again.

I guess im at an age now where I ask myself who am I, and maybe its time I embraced certain things about myself. So......

I was wondering if anyone else wanted to start some kind of club or once a month meeting or something where we could trade stuff or do a little swap meet or just perhaps discuss toys.

Or other things like comics, cult movies, etc..

Paul, just out of curiosity, what do you collect? G.I.Joe, Transformers, He-man ??? Also, are you a loose figure collector or a MOC collector? A toy club sounds cool, all you need are a dozen more people and we're good to go.

  2. No luck here synch. I was considering it, but after watching the guy open up a fresh box of kirks and start pulling out mangled and bent cards i refused to spend a dime on them. This is a con for collectors run by supposed proffesionals, wouldn't you think they of all people would try and keep a limited edition collectors item like that from getting ruined? I'm waiting for the skyway show in a month or two, now that's a true toycon.

  3. Well, between me and my brother we didn't get a thing that we actually went for. He's trying to polish off a marvel comics gijoe run with no luck, and the comics i was looking for to finish my silver age jla run were all there....but i refuse to pay double or triple guide value for fair to good comics. He ended up with a few robin comics and a few other miscelaneous books. As for me, i almost bought the gijoe Rhino vehicle but siver snail had it overpriced too. I ended buying some foreign porn from a dealer @firedevil@ , and i got my girlfriend a PILLOW FIGHT LEAGUE t-shirt...those girls were hot man. lol. What did you guys end up getting?

  4. Went to the show today. Major dissapointment. It was in a new, bigger hall yet it felt way more crowded than in the past. Took a ten minute walk through the maze that is the toronto convention centre, 2 hours in line to buy tickets, and 45 minutes in line to get in, comic book area, 2 isles, toys and assorted stuff about 1-2 isles, manga 3 isles, horror con about a third of the freakin hall, video game areas scattered everywhere, one entire room the size of a movie theatre dedicated solely to those freakin card games kids play, famous people all along the outside perimeter of the hall, lines for autographs for these people twisted all throughout the isle, which were tight enough to begin with, just utter chaos. Most of the dealers were selling overpriced garbage. To top it off i had to go back through the ten minute maze just to have a quick smoke, then i was told that i had to re-lineup for another 45 minutes to get back in the hall even though they were handstamping everyone. What a waste.......and it only cost me a $20 admission. ARGHHHH!!!!!

  5. Great site hawk. Trust me when i say this toyline is not forgotten. Me and my brother are both eagerly awaiting the DVD release and we've both been frantically searching for figures for the past few years. I've been looking for any MOC figures with no luck, do you have any extra MOC your willing to part with?

  6. I'm never in a toy slump. My collecting habits cover a large variety of action figures, mostly from the 80s' and 90s', so theres never a lack of something else to go after. :-)

    Sal

I seldom consider myself in a slump, and I have less varied tastes now then I used to.

I used to buy something every week, but now its more like every month and that's manageable.

The toy hobby can be addictive in the truest sense and addictions of any kind are not healthy. Moderation is really smart and its less devastating to the pocketbook. One need only pay attention to the one or two folks a month that post "must sell/need cash" threads to realize that spending too much on toys can really hit when hard times happen.

And folks, please heed a lesson from my own experience--I went bankrupt in part due to to extravagant spending on my toy hobby. Don't go overboard so that you can enjoy it for a good long time to come

You make some valid points arrow, and i'm extremely curious to know what major toy purchases pushed you into bankruptcy. Care to elaborate? The funny thing is, i actually switched over from collecting older, more expensive comics to collecting toys from my youth primarily because it was cheaper, believe it or not. Collecting every action figure from about a dozen or so older lines, plus vehicles and playsets, in MOC, works out to about half the cost of a whole series of low-grade DC j.l.a. comics.

  7. Already Released:

DC: Batgirl, Batgirl w/BatCycle, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Catwoman (movie), Catwoman (collector club), Wonder Woman Deluxe.

    Marvel: Elektra

What stores currently carry the Elektra? I've been loking for one for my gf forever.

  8. If it goes on clearance for 5 bucks I might pick it up, but I'll pass other then that.

Well...after the next 12 months (or so) of seeing this, and the Ninja Cycle, hog shelf space at Target and TRU stores, you'll likely get your wish.

    ^_^

Hey, at least you get g.i.joes on the shelf. Canada gets forgotten about, as usual.

  9. Hasbro first off I gotta say the DTC stuff is just AMAZING, truly amazing, makes me wish you'd stop selling to walmart years ago, just a great line of figures and vehicles so far.

I'm very curious to know about what's happening with GIJOE canada though. I love the figures but it gets very expensive for me to have a friend in the USA buy them for me and then ship them up north, if you sold to Canada (INCLUDING QUEBEC) I could spend less money on shipping and more on your products.

Lastly me and a lot of people would love to see some Iron Grenadier stuff for DTC

I recently spoke to a local shop owner who told me he's been asking the hasbro canada reps the same question and the response that they've been giving him is that the figures won't sell up in canada. To top it off the rep is older than either of my parents. Hasbro needs some young blood in their rep teams.

  10. Yeah, I just ran across those pics on Entertainment Earth (and yet, I didn't see an update on the Classictv site @hmmm@ )

I think the likeness is pretty decent on Peg, I can't really tell w/ Kelly though.

The likeness of marcy and jefferson in their jogging suits from the episode in the supermarket "You Better Shop Around" is dead on.

  11. I recently introduced my girlfriend to the world of collectible figures. She has since become addicted to "The Muppets" line and to the superhero "Barbies." The following are pictures of her small but growing collection.

The last pic has some of my most recent purchases. Scarface, Batmobile and a Snake-Eyes. All of my older collection is back at my parents place.
