I’m frustrated too and YES, consistency is really important to me big time. I get burned every time Hasbro reinvents the wheel. It’s probably clear that we are pretty much at the mercy of the movies’ success. Hasbro should just go the MOTU route and make consistent, quality, classic figures and have the run-of-the-mil junk sold en masse to the retailers. We’re almost there anyway with $15 a figure and pathetic distribution.

Nice work! Especially like the painted sword stand in the center back.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson In Talks For G.I.Joe: Cobra Strikes
Buckwheat826 replied to wolverine2281's topic in G.I. Joe
Kinda weird even though I like the Rock a lot. Someone somewhere else mentioned that he'd make for a better Torpedo (overlooking his size). THAT i could easily see. Rock is too serious to be making rhymes. I hope he wouldn't do that in the movie. Otherwise good for him. -
G.I.Joe 30th Anniversary Data Viper Figure Canceled
Buckwheat826 replied to The Wire's topic in G.I. Joe
I would have picked up at least one but wouldn't go bananas and army build him. It is definitely an interesting looking figure and think it has great sculpting, parts and detail. No real loss to me though and judging by the other comments, I'm not surprised he got axed. Probably a smart move on their part. Hope they use mold and parts for someone else more practical. -
Wasn't a Sgt. Hacker fan but that Hawk figure screamed computer dude to me so he's my POC Mainframe. I think also the figure might have worked a lot more as Hawk for me if he weren't so beefy. I dunno just my opinion.

Yeah this SE figure definitely had slice & dash in mind. Cool

I dig it nice work! crispy

Congrats! I bet you're happy! It's been dry out this way. Hopefully these start trickling down to retail soon and at humane prices. So far online has been in the lead.

Unfortunately no. I'm too poor nowadays. My brother in law hooked me up with some copies of the beginning story arc with Chuckles, Jinx, and the Baroness. That was great, and also I read some of the first few issues of the regular series. It was ok. I'd like to catch up. The series has gone up to #167 or something like that. Are any of the POC or ROC characters, vehicles, and designs in these as well? (ie Storm Rider, Bench Press, City Strike Firefly, etc)

Great job on these.

I thought the same. Wouldn't mind having a couple. I foresee some potential Raiden customs...

I think everyone will find room for this one. -
2011 SDCC Exclusive G.I.Joe 12" Cobra Ninja Viper Figure Photo Gallery
Buckwheat826 replied to The Wire's topic in G.I. Joe
No complaints on this one either. I like pretty much all of their stuff but they're out of my price range. Agreed he does resemble Nunchuk. Now bring on Lady Jaye and Cover Girl. Woot! -
It doesn't look like we're getting new Celebration cardbacks. Who knows. What gave me a sudden scare was not knowing if the new Cobra Trooper and Viper now released are POC, given that they may release (and they probably will) a "30th" anny version which would be different. For army builders, this sucks because if the first crop is more desirable, and decide to wait for the anticipated new releases, we miss out. If we buy now, and the newer version is better, we get burned. History repeats itself. lol Anyway I like both but those 30th cardbacks shown at the Con are pretty nice lookin too. I'm in the Bay Area (San Francisco) and Target has been selling pretty high. Alpha vehicles like Doom Cycle sell for 19.99! I have never seen wave 3, let alone a Shock Trooper in the wild out here at these stores. At a 9.99 price point, it's a seller's market for online markups. (sorry getting sidetracked from original topic)

Was POC wave 5 scrapped for the 30th anniversary theme? I noticed that the card art for them are not being released with what was shown at the Con... http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=view&album=2011_Joe_Con%2FHasbro%2FDay_1&pic=IMG_3614.jpg&dispsize=800&start=40 I've been digging for answers everywhere but had no luck. (I'm still here just too shy to post anymore) Also, what's up with Target selling Joes now for 9.99?! (rediculous especially like anyone's gonna pay that for Arctic Destro @rolleye@ ) HTS always out of stock. Walmart and TRU is a joke.

Got me back in. For those who also just stared up again because of this line, are you exclusively POC or back-collecting with Rise of, stuff too?
-
Tanforan Target: red stickered for $3.78. All they had were the Glendas, Flint undercover (Cobra uni), and 1 Airborne.

1. Scale mostly--too big 2. Construction
-
I agree with your disagreement. I realized immediately afterwards that it isn't that accurate to the original. It's close and passes, but still somewhat distant-just like Grand Slam and Footloose. Nonetheless, some of my favorites in the line.
-
VH selected some very nice examples from the former lines. And actually, the Interrorgator looks pretty much like a "25th" version in new sculpt.
-
I'd say the 25th are horrible in size. As for quality, the previous "New Sculpt" continues the original construct which is similar to ARAH. Though both the New Sculpt and ARAH are obviously different, the overall construction has the same theme- which partly defines to GIJOE figures to me. Aside from that, I miss the weight the previous figures had in this 25th line. People complain about the proportions, like V-chests etc, but I don't mind. In support of the line though, I will agree that most of the 25th figures look fantastic. The detail and accesories are indeed far superior to the previous "New Sculpt" DTC/VV figures and Hasbro has finally realized the importance of not dismissing their original classic looks to define the characters. Modern renditions are also cool too. Unfortunately, these guys are scaled too big in appearance for the vehicles even though they are retooled to "fit". If they blew it with the figures, starting out too big, don't be cheap and retool, make some dang new ones like the Millenium Falcon. I still like the previous "New Sculpt" figures though. To me, they are updated ARAH in overall appearence, but obviously not in traditonal character depiction. They are just simply modern, like the comics (DDP). If the contruction continued, perhaps we may have seen the long awaited classic depictions in "New Sculpt" with the love and detail of the 25th.
-
Yeah Baby!! Bring 'em back. Though I'm not exactly impressed with the rehash of these figures in particular, I am liking the notion that they haven't been forgotten. I'd really like for Hasbro to rekindle the DTC flame and pick up where they left off. They were are definitely on the right track IMO. I really like the art too on these. Ace looks awesome!
-
I want them. Especially the Officers in masse. I'll take a dozen Night Vipers too. So I hope MC hasn't abandoned the idea, and that me and novax213 are the last two souls who still are waiting. I still hail this line. The only regret is getting the RR Cobra Commander instead of the unreleased camo Firefly.

*sniff* O.K. I'm in... *sniff* Excuse me now while I do two backflips!!! AWSEOME! They must remake more vehicles..Please! I can't believe they did the MASS device and Weather Dominator! And scuba Baroness?! Nuked SE?! Holy shizz! Thank you!!!

1. Why are the 25th Anniversary figures a slightly larger scale than the previous? 2. Will newly sculpted versions of the classic era vehicles (VAMP I, VAMP II, WHALE, HISS I, RAM, Dragonfly, AWE Striker, etc) ever be made to compliment the line instead of re-releases of the original vehicles?
