  1. I have always enjoyed reading your profiles, as they are usually well-written, informed looks at rare or forgotten figures. I always look forward to reading the next one. I've even hunted down old figures based on your profiles. This time however I feel I have to say otherwise. This profile (and the last one, admittedly) covers a figure which is not rare, very recent, and as you said not in very high demand. Many of the points you make are valid as always, but I dont think this figure even warranted a profile. Your aside concerning the overall handling of the line and the state of DD pack in particular also doesn't really belong in the profile. As to my personal feelings on the comic packs themselves, I do agree with many of your points and skipped most of the packs. I greatly disliked the figures bright coloring, and as you said, the '82 body molds should be buried.
  2. This paragraph describes my collecting habits perfectly, but I edited one line to reflect my situation. I am a Hasbro whore. I collect some of each SW, TF, and GIJ. My closet and garage are filled up, and I'd estimate I buy less then a third of each line. Its nuts.
  3. Kiera Knightly is certainly hotter then Portman, and a slightly better actress. But it doesn't really matter to me as they are both flatter then week old soda. I like my women a bit more....robust. It doesnt matter who played Padme... the prequels still would have sucked thanks to Lucas. I do admire the effort that the cast put into the "films" ...Ewan in particular. But not even professional actors can polish the double-edged turd that is Lucas' current level of writing and directing.
  4. I passed. Is there a damn thing in it at all worth having?
  5. I too buy multiples of figures I like the most. I bought 3 Wave 7 Snake Eyes, 1 MOC one loose-as-is, one to paint black/grey.
  6. This is one of my all-time favorite figures. Its just a shame that his legs won't pose well, and that he can't hold his weapons (Im surprised no one mentioned this yet). I currently have 3, for customizing in different ways, and will probably pick up a few more, and maybe one to keep MOC.
  7. Man those figures look great. I can't believe they finally made Cliff Claven. Is that also a VOTC Vader? And boy am I glad I didnt buy the $10 Reeiken.
  8. Cobra: Hiss III Fang Wolf Claw Jetpack 1:18 bike for Zartan Moray Rattler Mamba Joe: Jungle Strike AWE Striker Sky Striker Sky Hawk one of the better tanks Tomahawk
  9. I've been disappointed in a number of TFs, most of which have since been sold.
  10. I loved the figure at first but when I got it I was sorely disappointed. It's between basic & deluxe sized. The colors are slightly off. The canopy is opaque. The headsculpt is kind of soft and undersized. The arms don't look that nice. The proportions arent that great, and the wings are floppy. Its a better figure then the G1 versions, but it has enough flaws to make me want to wait for the neo-G1 version. My recommendation is to avoid it unless you find it cheap. I just sold mine.
  11. I coulda swore I saw Dave Willis (SP?)'s name in the credits for Sigma 6.
  12. Not only are they more durable, they are sculpted to actually hold the weapons straight, instead of at the odd infuriating angle of the originals.
  13. Have you seen the Mustafar Battle Damaged Anakin Skywalker figure? Missing an arm, both legs and heavy scarring all over the face and body. Hasbro needn't worry about scaring kids off. I've seen it & I agree with your point BUT GI Joe doesn't have nearly the fanbase as SW, which I would say has more adult collectors then kids. Hasbro tries to skew GI Joe more toward kids IMO, DTC or not.
  14. Doh! Oh well, if you ever decide to dump one of those four, send me a shout! lol Four cases? Damn. I had one in my hands at the time & put it back for something else. I still kick myself.
  15. Hehe. Its not great, but not like I could do any better. But nothing beats Fat Optimus. Nothing.
  16. Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a HISS 3. I'm not really feelin the DTC HISS, and this is 17 years newer then the HISS 1. What is a reasonable price for one with driver, filecard & blueprint? (and if anyone has one, PM me!)
  17. Hey that Bib Fortuna was good for its time. I'm surprised no one has mentioned He-Man Lando, or Deluxe Ep. II Anakin. Yegawds that thing was unsightly.
  18. I think if they made one, it would have light scarring, they wouldnt want to scare off the kiddies. And he would come with a lamo oversized mask/visor that slips over his head. I'm not interested in such a figure so I didn't vote.
  19. I remember them saying this set would retail for $30. I refuse to pay TRU an extra $5 on principle. Plus I'd prefer if Starscream was in his GF or even G1 colors. I need to cut back on my TF spending anyway.
  20. 5 years old in 1982, my dad gave me Breaker, Grunt, and Hawk with the HAL.
  21. Interesting article. I'm sure overall holiday sales will be way down this year, not just toys. With people donating to relieve all these disasters its a wonder anyone will shop at all. I've curtailed my spending, I'm skipping most of TF Cybertron, which I otherwise would have bought. Likewise, I'm not ordering every single Joe item on HTS.
  22. DTC won't last forever. I'm reasonably sure that they simply dumped their ready-stock online to charge normal prices rather then sell it to discount chains and break even/lose money on it. Its a changing world, and I dont think 3.75 will ever return to retail in a way that we are familiar with. But I hope I am wrong.
  23. Checking out two of these places today. Never heard of them before these posts. I hope to score a Ricochet and some GI Joe items perhaps. *Update* Score! I got the last Ricochet, found some GI Joe comic packs, and the BTR set w/Firefly. All for $19. Plus it was my birthday!
  24. Great pics. Cant wait to get mine.
