  1. Just to put this in proper perspective, they claim these are based on original "UNUSED" sketches. Those would be sketches that someone looked over back in the day and said "Nah, we can do better than that." They are charging 75 bucks a pop for figures based on failed sketches from the design phase of a 30 year-old toy line. Seriously, I was gonna make a Vin Diesel joke, but this is to stupid for even that.
  2. No. Just . . . no. In every way, shape and form . . . no.
  3. No doubt, but it's not really a case of them doing this incredible show . . . except Ram-Man. They screwed the pooch from the get-go. Everyone got the treatment. It's all crap. On the same token, knowing how we fan-boys love our icons, I could see Ram-Ma'am becoming the poster-boy/girl for this particular assault on the pop cultural zeitgeist just as Teela has for Revelations.
  4. Does it matter? Not to burst Jay's bubble, but "Having a Cow" over THAT would be like catching the flu, but only complaining about the sneezing. (Have a Cow?)
  5. Okay, if the Silent Bob crap was injury, THIS would have to be the insult. Filmation got this right almost 40 years ago. What is so friggin' HARD!?! It's like they're deliberately trying NOT to make a decent cartoon. What, does State Farm have a crap cartoon policy? Will Gieco give Netflix a fat pay-out if the cartoon blows!?! Don't answer that.
  6. Sadly, with the under performance of Snake-Chi (Shang-Eyes?) in theaters it doesn't seem as if that's gonna change any time soon. Distribution, retailer push-back, consumer ill will: I think Hasbro could do away with at least 90% of their problems if they just remembered they are a toy company.
  7. I hear it has an interesting action feature. If you buy a Jeri Ryan figure it becomes insanely jealous.
  8. NICE! I loved that old cartoon. I spent many an hour daydreaming in school (and sitting at the teacher's desk afterward) doodling this particular design of the G-Man. It always bugged me that in all their Godzilla releases, Neca NEVER got around to this one.
  9. Certainly a valid want, but I'm hoping, this being an iconic mash-up deal, they stick with the actual icons. No offense, but the Ranger comics are basically just glorified fan-fiction in my book. I'm betting on a Raph vs. Zedd/Shredder set.
  10. As much as I love both TMNT and MMPR, I can't really say I was on board with these. BUT . . . Those are pretty dang cool. Love that April.
  11. Basically, after CBS acquired exclusive rites to air new episodes of the original series, they decided to make it the center-piece of their fledgling action cartoon block, The Action Zone. As such, they did a soft-overhaul of the series for seasons 8-10, toning down the comedy, removing the shows patented fourth-wall breaking, and altering the design of the Turtles and April to closer resemble their counterparts from the then current live-action movie series. Clips of the Turtles and Shredder from the first movie were even included in the opening sequence of the show. As a further concession to action cartoons of the period a darker palette was used for backgrounds, ala Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles, which included the skies being portrayed in a dark red color, day or night. Hence, this period of the series became known as the "Red Sky Episodes." On the downside, Carter, a "hip" young super-genius (groan) who transforms into a super-powered mutant ala the Hulk was added to the last two seasons as a regular, all but replacing April as the Turtles connection to the human world. To say he was not a welcome addition by the fans is kind of an understatement. After Season 8, Shredder, Krang, Rocksteady and Bebop were pretty much written out of the show to be replaced by would-be world conqueror Lord Dregg. There was another attempt at a new "Big-Bad" with the introduction of Titanus, but after a couple episodes he was written out as well.
  12. Have, do, and will always love the 90s movies, and the Red Sky episodes of the CBS run of the original cartoon. Everything else either sucked wind upfront, I just outgrew, or got burnt out on. For anything new, I'm like you, hopeful, but don't expect much (SETH ROGEN!?!)
  13. Jost Brothers? Michael Bay? Seth @#$&ing Rogen!?! Why does Nickelodeon hate the Ninja Turtles?
  14. "Forever Red" Andros, huh. Very cool. This would also be, technically, the first "Civilian Mode" Lightning Collection figure we've gotten.
  15. Sad day indeed. The man was an icon of a bygone era of the collecting community. When I first became aware of Joerhyno, the community was just that, a community, a bunch of fans who shared a common interest. No small men with delusions of entitlement, no scalpers, just guys who knew what it was about. Not a bad legacy. See Ya Joe, you will be missed.
  16. Looks like they STILL haven't licked their scale issues. Disappointing, as otherwise I'd be tempted to pick the Plasma series up.
  17. And here I think we see the problem with this "line," at least for the near future. Where Neca's Turtles are marketed as 7" but are actually very much in the 6" scale, the Turtles tooling Playmates has been using forever, is a lot closer to 7" than 6" scale. Their new 6" villains apparently have been spared this problem. I have no doubt if playmates decides to continue these figures, and they're successful enough, they'll cook themselves up a set of "corrected" Turtles quickly enough. Almost makes me wanna support the line just to see where it goes.
  18. Oh yeah, baby! I'm gettin' me one of those! Lovin' the new Nia Jax and Bayley figures as well, but NOT getting Bigfoot isn't even an option. The only way they could improve on it is if they went the Ray Arnold route and packed in a severed arm.
  19. Even if the last iteration was a cluster-fudge from day one, TMNT is a multi-million dollar franchise. Pandemic not withstanding, Nickelodeon's not gonna let it gather dust to long. Once they get their ducks in a row and make with a new version, Playmates will be able to forgo the repacks/repaints and roll out a proper line. Hopefully, it'll be a good one.
  20. Cash, space, patience; I'm out of all three. I'm withholding my Turtle-buying dollar to see what Playmates roles out next.
  21. Oh, I did so love the Turtle line. But the prices were a little high, distribution a little spotty (okay, A LOT), and with every set I knew I was playing Russian Roulette with Neca's patented shoddy QC. So, I threw in the towel and dumped my entire collection on Ebay.
  22. I assume you're specifically referring to Yasuo, Jinx and Darius, cause Thresh and Zed ARE 6." Granted, there's a lot of wiggle room in the 6" scale, so even that's no guarantee these would fit in with any other line.
  23. Hasbro, you SOBs. You just can't help yourselves can you? Pudgy Pig may not be the most enthralling character in the long history of Power Rangers, but he's definitely one of the most iconic. So naturally, you release him in a way that guarantees the fewest possible collectors can actually get him.
  24. Looks pretty cool. I might've grabbed the 6 inchers, but I'm seriously dialing back my collecting, plus I've already been burned with Overwatch. Somebody rolls out a fresh new line, you go out of your way to snag all the figures, then they up and cancel it before they even get to the talking monkey. Still, can't help wishing they'd spread a little of that 1/12th love to their DC line.
  25. Yeah, that synopsis hasn't improved my estimation of this project. It just reinforces my opinion this'll be some low-rent horror anthology with Chucky being little more than window dressing with a couple feature episodes just to keep the fans' attention. Basically, just rehashed Freddy's Nightmares. It also doesn't help the synopsis sounds a little TO similar to one they did for that aborted attempt at a Freddy's' type show for Jason.
