I usually try not to dwell on what I didn't get, but yeah, not getting the Defiant was one of the great disappointments of my life. The Mobile Command Center comes up a distant second.

Netflix's Pacific Rim: The Black - Official Teaser
mako replied to Outsiders's topic in Entertainment News
Sadly, this is turning into a growing trend with Netflix. Snag a played-out franchise, and "expand the story" with a generic, torture porny anime.- 9 replies

Netflix's Pacific Rim: The Black - Official Teaser
mako replied to Outsiders's topic in Entertainment News
Okay, I get the old "Young Heroes Pilot Found Mecha" is one of the more popular tropes in anime/manga, and I've only seen the first Pacific Rim (and that was a while back), but I'm pretty sure Jaegerss didn't work like that.- 9 replies

Toys "R" Us Closes Its Two U.S. Stores A Year After Opening
mako replied to Outsiders's topic in Action Figure News
Another victim of bad timing. Reaction to Covid is crippling businesses left and right. Just so happens THIS business was in the early stages of its rebirth . . . now a funeral. -
TNI Editorial - State Of The Hobby 2021 - F#@% Target And Walmart
mako replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
Working retail is probably a lot like being a cop (danger to life and limb not withstanding). You do your job the best you can, help where you can, but because of the job you do, people are gonna dump on you. Usually, for no reason.- 16 replies

TNI Editorial - State Of The Hobby 2021 - F#@% Target And Walmart
mako replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
Not that I'm defending Walmart, but it's real easy to say "You're doing it wrong," from the other side of a computer screen. Fact is, things aren't great for anybody right now. But, you know, feel free to complain. I'm sure all those poor b-----ds working retail are just thrilled to hear the constant winning of grown-up men who can't find their toys. It's not like they're trying to keep up with lunatics hoarding toilet paper and hand sanitizer, not to mention making sure true necessities like food and medicine are there when we need them.- 16 replies

Could Super7 Be Planning A ThunderCats Thundertank?!?
mako replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
Best way to get people over their sticker shock is a little nibble here, a little nibble there . . . , build up that anticipation. I guess what they show us here is the first nibble.- 83 replies

Could Super7 Be Planning A ThunderCats Thundertank?!?
mako replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
Is it something I would get? Not at that price. But if you have the cash, and that does it for you, knock yourself out.- 83 replies

I know, right? Sure, nearly a hundred years later they're still making movies about them, but who knew?

I was actually thinking of the Target wave, but I guess it depends on who you ask.

If they're actually easier to find, fine. We can even consider it a "do-over." Just get the bloody things out there.

Godzilla Vs. Kong - Official Trailer & First-Look Images
mako replied to Outsiders's topic in Entertainment News
Trailer looks cool (how could it NOT?), but sadly, there's no reason to think this Monsterverse movie will be any less self-aggrandizing than the other three. They all LOOKED cool, but its like paying to see good Star Wars, but all you get is bad Star Trek.- 11 replies

I've come close to pulling the trigger on one or two of Neca's Predator or Alien figures. Fortunately, with Lanard's new 1/12th Predator and Alien lines I can get them cheaper, AND in Marvel Legends scale no less.

It's been my experience that most, if not all, of these inventory finding sites are completely useless. I've found empty pegs where there was supposed to be product, and product where they told me there were only empty pegs. In the case of Target, even their own bloody website doesn't know what's in stock at their stores. Best bet? Physically go to the store and check yourself, or call and hope the person on the other end knows what you're talking about.

First-Look Images From 'Mortal Kombat'; Synopsis & Character Casting
mako replied to Outsiders's topic in Entertainment News
Wow, I didn't even recognize Mehcad Brooks at first. Especially bad considering his is the only name I recognized in the cast. Of course, Christopher Lambert was the only name I recognized from the original movie, so no slight there. I'll probably leave this one for the Millennials and just enjoy mine. Fool that I am, I just don't need to see somebody get their spine ripped out to enjoy a flick. -
Dungeons & Dragons Series In The Works With John Wick Writer
mako replied to JayC's topic in Entertainment News
Outside of the cartoon, I was never really into the whole D&D scene. Of course, I was still a little young for it when the whole RPG craze was at its peak. By the time I hit my teens, I was more into the Palladium stuff (Heroes Unlimited, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other Strangeness, etc.). Can't really get to excited for a D&D series. Of course it doesn't help that every fantasy themed movie, TV show, video game, or book since the 80s has basically BEEN a riff on the whole D&D theme. By now any series would be just another formula we've seen a hundred times.- 5 replies

Jon Cor To Play 'Chillblaine' During The 7th Season Of 'The Flash'
mako replied to Outsiders's topic in Entertainment News
Never heard of the guy, but then I pretty much stopped reading The Flash about a year into Wally's tenure. No slight against West, I liked a lot of what they did with the character, he just wasn't for me. -
We have to cut Playmates some slack. No doubt the roll out of the next incarnation of the TMNT has been delayed, like everything else. Therefore, Playmates has to limp along as best they can with stuff like this.

Disney animated television series Gargoyles Q-Figs From QMx
mako replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
Ooo, a King Arthur & Griff 2-pack would be awesome! For that matter, give me everybody from the Avalon arc. -
And price hikes? Forget it! I remember the 90's. The Marvel cartoons were all over the airwaves, and Toybiz was pumping out so much product, literally two weeks after a new wave would get released, it would be on clearance at Toys-R-Us just to make room for the next batch. God, I loved those clearance baskets, sometimes the figures even still had traces of the packing tissue on 'em.

Tell me about it. As kids spending our allowances on G.I. Joes, we never had any concept of the hundreds of roadblocks we would face as adult collectors . . . and that's not even counting pandemics, quarantines and shutdowns.
