  1. I told myself I didn't need this movie to happen, but as it's getting closer I'm anticipating Solo more and more. Maybe I just want the bad taste of Last Jedi washed away. I hope all the negativity I'm hearing about it is just a lot of internet bunk.

I don't know. I was actually pretty pumped about Solo since the first trailer, but the more I see about it, the more I think: "A heist picture? Is this REALLY where we want Star Wars to go?"

  2. Will I ever be able to watch Smallville again? This is some of the most twisted stuff in recent memory. Wow.

I hope they throw ALL the books at that Renier creep. I also hope the poor souls he caught in his sick web get the help they need, including Allison Mack.

  3. I will count the wrestling Sgt. Slaughter POP figure as "GI Joe" and hunt it down. Yep, I'm am desperate for new GI Joe product.

      mako

Why not? I tracked down the WWE "Turncoat" Sgt. Slaughter a few months back. Recycled head0wrap, curly toed combat boots and all.

  4. I'm almost scared to go to my TRU. I know I'm only going to see a shell of a store with random stuff scattered about, all the good stuff picked over and long gone by now. And that will be my final memory of the place.

Pretty much the only reason I haven't hit mine yet.

  5. Haven't seen a single movie with Scott Eastwood, but dang, he does have the Wolverine look. And the last name at least inspires trust.

Scott Adkins is a lot closer to type, plus he's already done a Marvel movie (Dr. Strange), and with his martial arts background you KNOW he can handle the action scenes.

  6. If my Vision/Scarlet Witch 2 pack could just make it into the mail before TRU closes up shop, that would be great.

The way these things usually go is the figures end up dumped on the foreign market and the outlet store circuit (Big Lots, Dollar General, etc.). Of course the Has could always pull a Mattel and pile the potentially homeless exclusives into a mish-mash wave and release it at mass-retail, or even through Hasbro Toy Shop (which, if TRU does bite the big one, would probably be our only real hope of ever scoring the Sentinel set).

Vision/Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man/Stinger, Old Man Logan/Sentinel; if TRU doesn't find a sugar-daddy soon, there's gonna be a lot of disappointed toy collectors this year.

  8. Principal called a snow day last night. Woke up this morning with no snow on the ground. I mean....I'll take it. Maybe get some toy hunting in today.

    1. mako

      mako

Yeah, I used to love those snow days. Until the district started making up the time by having school on Saturdays or cutting into spring break or summer vacation. Or just go in spite of snow (still remember being on that bus as it careened backward down an iced over hill). It's hard living in a state where eeven the Superintendant himself admits the school system is screwed up beyond any hope of fixing.

  9. To all those finding the Mr Fantastics, the Deadpool Waves, and the Infinity War stuff congratulations. Apparently you don't live in a state where none of the brick'nmortars have stocked jack-sh..uh..anything since before Christmas.

As long as I can have it at a decent price. I've paid my last Amascalper mark-up. There's just to much hitting this year.

  10. Maybe we can make a few more highly anticipated Marvel Legends figures Toys R Us exclusives. You know, the company that is closing hundreds of stores across America.

    1. mako

      mako

Hey, don't blame Hasbro, they're just trying to get their stuff out there (are you paying attention Mattel?). TRU wouldn't be closing doors if they hadn't "F"ed up somewhere along the way.

  11. Interesting. Just a few weeks after releasing a jet that transforms into a robot panther, a vehicle for a spandex clad, animal themed super-hero in their Black Panther kiddie line Hasbro scores the master toy license for Power Rangers. Coincidence? You decide.

    1. mako

      mako

Works for me. Just as long as any such line features face-printed "unmasked" alternate heads... at least for Valerie Vernon and Cerina Vincent. Yummy.

  12. Well, I certainly have no idea how to choose between the awesome ML Civil War Black Panther or the equally awesome BP movie wave Black Panther. Ideally I'd sell one off, but which one?

    1. mako

      mako

Personally, I'd keep the BP movie wave version. They may both be great figures, but sculpt, construction and likeness are all amped up to 11 on the newer version.

  13. "Smallville", "Krypton", "Metropolis"....anymore Superman towns we can make a Superman show from....WITHOUT having Superman in it?

    1. mako

      mako

Lets see, Kandor, Argo, the Phantom Zone... face it, there's a lot of superhero real estate out there.

  14. The upcoming toy has put me in a Shipp Flash mood. Bought the 90's TV series on DVD today. I've never seen it.....

    1. mako

      mako

Oh man, that was a great show. You wanna see the best episodes (IMHO) make sure and catch "Ghost in the Machine," "Deadly Nighshade," "Twin Streaks," "Alpha," and "Fast Forward."

  15. How much longer can my one remaining local TRU survive the chopping block?

    1. mako

      mako

Looks like I dodged a bullet. Of the four here in Little Rock (two regular stores, an Outlet, and a Babies 'r Us) only the Babies 'r Us is getting the axe.

  16. Typical. M.A.S.K. and Rom the Space Knight have apparently been pulled from the the release schedule and are no longer part of Hasbro's "Hasbro Cinematic Universe" plans. Great. The one property I was most looking forward to, and the coolest sounding property get cut. Still, if what IDWs been doing is any indicator of what they'd be like, its for the best.

I was kinda counting on a lot of rebooting (or re-rebooting in Joe's case).

  17. Catching up on The Flash via netflix (with captions on of course as my daughter is usually fussy during my shift). I finished season 2 and the first couple of season 3 episodes. Not bad. I wonder if I should do Arrow or Supergirl next.

    1. mako

      mako

Supergirl. Even with Season 2s SJW fixation and some of the worst writing I've seen since DIC did G.I. Joe, it's still worlds better than Arrow. If you watch Arrow, skip season 4. Even Steven Amell thinks it was crap.

  18. New rumor is a Black Widow solo-pic may be happening. I got news for 'em, it already has. "Red Sparrow" starrinbg Jen Lawrence. Can you still call it a mockbuster if its a big-budget studio picture?

    1. mako

      mako

Strictly speaking, to prove infringement a judge would have to be able to isolate a certain number of "points of similarity" in both IPs. granting that, said judge could swear out an injunction against the Red Sparrow studio, Disney and the studio could settle out of court (most common outcome), or the judge could rule that infringement IS present, but not worth pursuing (it happened when Fox sued Marvel over the Mutant X TV series back in the day).

  19. So Miles Morales is getting a new name this year. That's... neat. The name bandied about seems to be "Spy-D" (groan). All things considered, I'll just go on calling him "Kid Arachnid."

    1. mako

      mako

I'm pretty sure they only use the name where the cartoons, and appropriate merchandising is concerned.

  20. Watching peoples' top ten figures of the year youtube videos. Sorry, but if you put 2+ figures in one slot, it's a cheat. Make up your mind.

    1. mako

      mako

My personal favorite was the guy whos "Top 10" list carried over into a second video for numbers 11-20.

  21. Finally got myself some Salon Care 40 creme which they say is the magic bullet for whitening yellowed plastic. Going to spend Christmas break trying to fix some GI Joes that have taken the golden shower.

    1. mako

      mako

      .... never mind.

  22. Hawk and Dove people! The suits have been revealed... and they actually look great. Now I'm gonna be on pins and needles waiting to see the rest of the Titans.

    1. mako

      mako

Yeah, I know. Just as I'm sure Black Lightning is gonna be over-flowing with "Whitey Done Me Wrong" sentiment. But, until then, I'm gonna give 'em the benefit of the doubt. Who knows, either (or both) of the shows could be the next Blindspot.

  23. Man, according to my FB comic group, it appears Disney made another big purchase today. Can't seem to remember what it was though......

    1. mako

      mako

Hey, I'm glad to hear it. It does my heart good when one of these little Mom & Pop operations does well.

  24. According to a news anchor I heard yesterday, the Disney/Fox merger will finally allow X-Men and Fantastic Four to interact with Marvel Comics characters. Uh... yeah.

    1. mako

      mako

Should have expected it. Its not like there isn't ALWAYS that one yutz who asks Stan Lee how long he's been drawing comics.

  25. The image of Robin from the Titans show looks good. I have been wanting a Robin done right on the big screen but I'll settle for the small screen. We can't have Joel Schumacker's version be the final word.

    1. mako

      mako

It definitely looks good, and does alleviate some fears, but if the Arrowverse has taught me anything its that a pretty suit does not a good show make. For now call me cautiously optimistic.
