  1. You know.......these things are so awesomely detailed that they almost look real. Another little thing.........they look real world enough to be prototypes for what a real GI Joe movie could look like. In that second pic with CC and the troops and Storm Shadow......you're telling me that those designs wouldn't have worked just as well. They look pretty creepy all together like that. Great figures.........
  2. No, I'm fairly sure the movie will still suck hard.........I was just going to pick up a couple figures to keep MOC just for the sake of my Joe collection. I collect everything Joe for the most part..........I even have some Sigma 6 figures.......I'm still not a big fan but I picked up a couple to give them a chance. Most of the figures are pretty crappy though.........save a few. I still would rather have Modern era stuff.........
  3. I really wanted nothing to do with the movie figures........I was gonna get a couple just to have in my collection. That trench coat Snake-Eyes is too freakin cool!!!!! (Page 2 of the pics) Shipwreck looks really good too.
  4. I'm pretty sure they will come with accessories......at least they better cause some of those figures are in desperate need of accessories. Something is not sitting right with me about that Alley-Viper.........maybe the brown on the boots......hmmmmmm. Cool that he has his colors though.
  5. Somehow no one has mentioned the "Snake Fries" Mr. Potato Head...........that thing is unreal.
  6. Lame.......but not really surprised with the way things have been going.
  7. Awesome update to the NightRaven........Yeah, its a little small but its still cool as hell. I'm liking that "stealthy" Strato-Viper too.
  8. You can see complete panel details here http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=13&itemid=14055 I read the panel.........I know they are eventually going to re-release figures but it should be sooner than later. Right now, with the way that this line is hot on the secondary market its going to be harder and harder to get the figures the day they are released. Say I'm working or something on the 17th of February.......(Stratos release date) somehow I can't get to a computer. He sells out in 24 hours..........you're telling me I have to wait another couple months (Who knows the time table with these things) before he's offered again?? This is Mattel we're talking about.....not the toy company that I have the most confidence in. I don't want to get people angry at me for being negative.........I'm not a super Mattel hater or anything.....I'm someone who was going to wait a little before I got into the MOTUC line to see if it had potential.........now it looks as if I'm behind the 8 Ball on this thing.......If I want to start and not get screwed in the end I apparently need to pick up Stratos on the 17th or my wallet and my collection is going to get left behind. That's just where I'm coming from........... @dunce@ I'll give myself the dunce for waiting but still.........
  9. These figures look great and all..........but the thing that is still sticking out in my mind is AVAILABILITY. I'm not going to start collecting this line until they give me a little better feeling about if I will be able to get the figures I want down the line. I have a feeling it may be more of a headache than anything. Right now this line is scalperific.........somehow with an online store. That Man-at-Arms is awesome though.......Teela looks great as well. I really want to get into this line......I hope they fix the issues sooner than later cause the figures are really good.
  10. Please, these guys are actors......I can see him changing it because of the kids but we know nothing about the real John Cena. There was a RAW taping in WI a while back and a friend of mine was at the hotel that the wrestlers were. He said Cena was all over the bar and didn't want anything to do with you unless you had boobs. My friend went up to him just to shake his hand......and he didn't even really look at him....just kinda brushed him off......and went back to his gaggle of women he had around him. Said he was kind of an A-hole.........he had a $900 bar tab. I'm not saying he's evil or anything........but we don't know anything about this guy behind closed doors.
  11. Or a business suit.......possibly like the convention exclusive.
  12. Not that I know of........but I think that's when the Sheet is gonna hit the fan.......fanboys everywhere will cry out!!!! @loll@ What are the chances that they got him right????
  13. If they don't re-release figures quickly enough I'm pretty sure that they will sell-out too........just from being a "hot item" for both scalpers and collectors. Its simple supply and demand...........Like I've said before, I was on the fence about these but I've been reading a lot about the line in the last month and was thinking about picking up He-man to see what it was all about. After getting him in the mail I was going to make my decision on the line based on him.............now he's not available. Skeletor too............so its pretty annoying when the company comes out and says that they may release them down the line but they really don't give a date. I'm not going to start my collection with Stratos.........with a hope that I may get a He-man and Skeletor down the line. Not gonna do it.......not with the prices these things are. If you get behind.......you may not be able to get the figures you want unless you want to drop close to 60 bucks with 2 figures. Essentially, Mattel has made Mattycollector.com an online empty peg.............the arch enemy of toy collectors. I thought that maybe Mattel was going to learn the lessons of the 200X line which was a scalpers/toy re-sellers dream. I still remember seeing Keldors on sale for 200 bucks 5 minutes after going on sale at Chicago Comic-Con............after driving 14 hours the day before just to get a chance at one. (I was also told that day that I could only get a raffle ticket for either the Keldor or Batman not both) So they made my odds even worse.......the only con exclusive I got that year was a Silver Boba Fett......Lame. Glad..... I didn't fall for their crap again.......even if I got He-man.....who's to say I would have gotten Skeletor??? Lame.....they should have given a date for He-man re-release dates.......not this "Maybe down the road" crap.
  14. So is this coming out in the states........I know Silvervision is primarily the UK??? The Greatest Stars of the 80's is a pretty good set......I'll probably pick this up if its coming out stateside.
  15. Indeed that was a bit of a let down but stilll I can't freaking wait to see this movie! If only I could get sneak peak tickets and see it before everyone else like I did with #1 prime getting nailed in the head, and the big roller dude at the end were slowed down! And this was a teaser trailer don't forget, its not suppose to show much, but a tiny glimpse. Add to the fact that it's a very terrible quality video. Even the high def video is no where near as good as watching the actual spot on TV. I suppose thats true but considering where it was airing you would think they would have more to "wow" all the billions of people watching! Because... they have seen & are use to big live action robots now we do indeed need many a "wow" moments for this flick & yes was that ravage or grimlock we saw?.. I'm thinking more ravage cause he is small .... well ... robot ish small anyways Its Ravage... No Dinobots in this movie... Is anyone sure about that......................I've been looking at some Hi-Def pics online and I tell ya what........I'll be damned if that thing doesn't somewhat look like a movie version Dino-bot.....HMMM???? Can we really trust Bay? Cybertronian Allspark pieces melding together with some underwater fossils and all those Decepticon scraps down there. Crazy I know but still........
  16. That's incredibly hard to predict, of course. It all depends on how the film is marketed, how it plays and what it runs up against on the marquee. If the film works as a solid action romp it could do very well and meet the studios expectations. It looks to have the major elements needed for that ( aside from story) in the trailer, so it'll at least draw an audience on opening weekend. Now, whether it'll HOLD that audience.........well, that remains to be seen. You also have to think how this will do internationally..........but most movies these days have a big opening weekend and then die off........Summer Blockbusters are the exception to this......I think Iron Man was Number 1 for 3 weeks and then was knocked off by Indy??? (Can't remember) Those first couple weeks are key........if you don't get it then....you're not going to get it. But if you pay attention to movies and what they make on their opening weekends enough you can get a feel for what people want to see and whats a success. http://boxoffice.com/ Good little website that gives the numbers every weekend and has reviews and other stuff. Also has a great example as to how the GI Joe trailer is being recieved by REGULAR people..........
  17. I've been looking around the web this morning and the GI Joe movie ad isn't making any "favorite" lists from what I've seen, ad wise (which means it didn't stick out to people).......while Transformers 2, Land of the Lost, and The Year One movie ads are. Not high on lists but still there......while GI Joe is not. To the regular everyday person this is Generic Action movie #72...........and what I meant in my earlier post about Transformers ruling the summer was that kids are going to be all about the Autobots and Decepticons............Transformers 2 looks bigger, and badder..........something you haven't seen before, makes you say "I gotta see that".......We've seen this GI Joe movie before a zillion times.........why do you think the action movie genre has somewhat died as of late.......it was killed by superheroes........they are the new action stars. One can argue that the Joes are "Superheroic" but I think the way they are portrayed in this movie will lose a lot of everyday people. I'm not saying my childhood is raped or anything like that.........I'll see the movie, hopefully enjoy it.....(doubt it) but I'm seeing maybe a 40-50 million opening weekend......and then a sharp drop-off.
  18. I just saw the Transformers 2 trailer............anyone else think that this summer will be ruled by the Autobots and Decepticons??? I know it comes out in August.......but still. Transformers 2 looks pretty heavy, and EVERYONE I know is excited for Transformers 2.......even my grandfather (81) is excited for the second one. GI Joe may get lost in the fog.........of Transformers awesomeness.
  19. Definitely looks darker than the first.........Ravage looks scary as hell.....
  20. Over at ESPN.com there are banner ad's for the movie and links that take you to the movie website. Nothing new......but they are giving it a good little push on Super Bowl Sunday.
  21. Exactly, it still looks like Generic Action Movie number #72..........Snake-Eyes is the only thing that let me know that it was a GI Joe movie. It has potential........but I'm still not sold......it really doesn't matter if they sell us.....they already have all of our 8-10 bucks. But to the average person this just looks like another action movie......nothing special. Those aren't GI Joe's..........also those Tech suits look a little like Wraith?
  22. I really didn't want to open any of these but I'm going to have to get that Flint......it took them 3 times to get him right. Unless, that's the Flint from the new boxset coming out.........haven't seen pics in a while. Everything else is......Meh......I'll get a couple just cause of the packaging but other than that not too excited. Slick how they have "1 of 10" or "4 of 10" on the outside of the box though.....trying to trick me into getting them all. "Gotta catch 'em all!!"
  23. I'm really liking that packaging...........I'm not a MOC collector but those cards look nice enough to keep MOC and have them standing up behind my open figures in my display. Plus, the heavy addition of the Red, White and Blue logo doesn't hurt either...........I'm definitely going to pick some of these up. #US1#
  24. Wow.....so everyone is either in all black or in a business suit........Hmmmmm. That Viper is awful......looks like the guys from "Army of Two." All the original GI Joe themes are completely gone from this. It looks like they tried for like 5 minutes.........its a shame really. I know people are saying "Wait till it comes out" but at the rate that things are going it seems to be getting worse and worse. The more I see the more I'm disappointed........my imagination is the only thing saving this for me in my mind......"I hope its good, I hope its good." This thing is going to be this years "Speed Racer" Bet on it...........this isn't even a fanboy rant. It just looks like a bad MOVIE.......I can't even get past it just being a good movie from what I'm seeing much less a good GI Joe movie. @grumpy@
  25. It really doesn't make any sense cause they aren't making any money off of "Joe Toy Buyer" buying their figures and re-selling them on ebay. I really don't buy that excuse sometimes......if anything it creates negative hype for collectors. They are going to have to re-release Skelly and He-man eventually cause no one is going to want to start their collection off with Stratos or Mer-man.......Thats the problem I'm having right now......I'm still a little skeptical about this line......(mainly cause I've cut my toy collecting way down, strictly GI Joe's anymore.) But I am curious about the line and was thinking about caving and picking up some figures.......now Mattel is not going to get my 20-40 bucks cause the main bad guy and good guy are out of stock.........I don't just want a Stratos to start off. Plus I live in Wisconsin......so how is them taking stock to the NYCC helping me and other collectors nationwide in getting figures they want. Granted, I waited but its stupid to not have stuff in stock......really? Once they announced that figures were sold out you could just see scalpers and people looking to re-sell hot figures ears go up. I wonder how many people that bought Skeletor are really fans of the line and how many just bought him to re-sell him on ebay??
