  1. I think it would be pretty costly & unwise to sink alot of $$ into a line that's only in it's 1st yr, to make 10 different male body sculpts for every concievable male body type. They are playing it safe right now & reusing certain body parts for characters that share the same body type in the comics. If the line's a huge hit in 08, I'm sure they'll invest $ in making a few more different male body sculpts. In the DCU , there are many heroes/villians that fall in the 6'1-6'2,6'3 220lbs-225lbs-230lbs size & those can use the same body sculpt. Now a character such as Martian Manhunter who's 6'7 & 300lbs is gonna require a brand new sculpt cuz the current standard Superman/Batman sculpt won't work on him. In this JL pic of the current lineup, all the males are pretty much built the same, you really can't say that so&so looks thinner or huger than so&so. Supes is 6'3 235lbs Bats is 6'2 225lbs Aquaman 6'2 325lbs Captain Marvel 6'3 250lbs Orion 6'4 425lbs Are you gonna give them all a different body sculpt due to a 1-2 inch hgt difference? Orion & Aquaman weigh more due to their muscle density. One's a God & the other due to his Atlantean physiology so he can withstand the pressures of the deep. Even Hal, who's 6'2 200lbs, can share the same body sculpt as those mentioned above & fit right in. Someone like Flash (Wally)who's 6' 190lbs, will need a slimmer looking sculpt.
  2. Soft plastic is my pick. 5-10yrs from now, will those cloth capes be looking as good as they did when they were new? Superpowers used cloth capes. does anyone who owns them, still have them looking like new?
  3. I have no problem with people asking for certain characters in the DCU, just don't ask for characters based on a specific artist's art! Take that request to DCD, that's what they specialize in. I want DCU figures based on the 4HM generic sculpting style, be they BA or modern versions.
  4. Mr Yac says:" i don't really give a crap about scale or articulation either" Good for you, then DCD will alway take care of that for you cuz they excel at those 2 things you don't give a crap about. However, there are many of us who do give a crap about scale/POA & are very happy that Mattel/4HM think so as well!
  5. People keep harping that DCD will do the super obscure characters that Mattel wont! What super obscure character has DCD done lately? And even if they do, so what, they'll still be out of scale, 9 POA, artist/story specific versions, so I could care less if DCD does obscure characters. Personaly, if the character is that super obscure, that only hardcore fans would know who it is, why would Mattel want to make a figure that the none comic collecting customer wouldn't know from a hole in the wall?It would peg warm big time! Ooh, DCD is making Calender man! Super obscure, right? Do you really think that if Mattel/4HM made this a regular fig in a line , it would sell to the general, non-comic collectors? I highly doubt it! I know who he is & I wouldn't buy it unless the C&C was a must have figure for me. DCD isn't dead cuz there will always be "Superwonderbat" fans that will support it & could care less about the scale issues & limited POA & like having 22 "SuperwonderBat" figs based on 22 different artist's renditions & 22 different storylines.
  6. Frankly, the less muscley "Curt Swan" look was good enough to last over twenty years, it might be nice to pay tribute to that era. That's what the DCD line is for. This is not gonna be an artist specific toyline, it's a generic figure toyline. Why would you want Mattel to become another DCD with this artist specific crap? I quit collecting the DC line to their scale FU & their artist/story specific lines, the last thing I want is for Mattel to ever go that route as well! I want comic accurate, generic versions of characters in the DCU from the 4HM, not a Jim Lee, Swan, Kirby, Perez Byrne based figure, go to DCD for that trash! Not one of these figures looks like any specific artist rendition! They are generic looking! Aquaman looks like no specific artist drawing. generic! Firestorm? Generic! Hal? Generic! MOD EDIT: IMAGES REMOVED - PLEASE DON'T POST IMAGES THAT ARE THE PROPERTY OF OTHER WEBSITES. Are the 4HM inspired by certain artist renditions of these characters? I'm sure they are. But what they do is incorparate a bit of certain artist's look into their sculpt, but still end up doing it in their own, non-artist specific style! Don't get me wrong, I love the art style of the artist I listed, I just don't want artist specific sculpts based on their art cuz then everyone & their mother will be asking for figures based on their favorite artist & that's what DCD is for! I want this line to be a generic, scale compatible line across every single wave. I want to be able to grab a figure from wave 13 & pose him/her/it next to wave 1 Orion or Reddy & have them look like they came from the same wave! You can't do that with DCD due to their multitude of "Superwonderbat" artist/story specific lines & screwed up scale issues.
  7. That would be my guess. Something a little less "Muscle Beach" than the DCSH version. Maybe similar to the one from the original 6" Batman line, only with more articulation. Hopefully without the "super splits" to. If you look at the JLA members that they have done so far on waves 1-2-3, they're from the Satellite era, so look for a figure of Supes from that era. Also, why would you want a less muscley Superman figure? What's "muscle beach" about this! Why would you want someone known as "the man of steel" less muscley? MOD EDIT: IMAGES REMOVED - PLEASE DON'T POST IMAGES THAT ARE THE PROPERTY OF OTHER WEBSITES. I could care less for the long haired 'hippy" version of Supes that came out after his death. What's the fascination with wanting a Supes with long hair? More articulation? What's wrong with the 21 POA they have now? IMO, the 4HM incorporate the perfect blend of sculpt & POA in their figures. They put the articulation where it best works for the figure. I don't need every finger articulated or the front half of the feet.
  8. Venal4 states: " Honestly, the DCUC Sinestro (which uses an idential body to the Hal in the same wave, cheapness for ya)" WRONG! As the pic by Doomsday clearly shows, they use different body sculpts! "cheapness for ya? You mean like the whole McGuiness line used the same freakin body sculpt for just about every single male figure in their entire line? Thats cheapness!
  9. Now that DCUC wave 3 is gonna include Solomon Grundy as the C&C fig, there have been 3 versions of Mr Grundy made. Which is your favorite & why & which is your least favorite & why?
  10. IMO, these are the definitive versions of these characters ever! Once I have this wave, I don't think any future figures that come out of these characters by some other company can match the sheer beauty of the ones the 4HM have sculpted. These are masterpieces! MOD EDIT: Variant images removed - pictures belong to another website.
  11. Got my case a few days ago. Enjoy the pics!
  12. Patience grasshopper. I've heard reports of people in NJ finding wave 1 in the last few days, so I'm pretty sure you should start to see them in LI pretty soon. Why didn't you pre-oder them online? You woulda had them already. I got my case in the mail on the 3rd! Here's some pics! These are fantabulous! They blend in perfectly with the DCSH line as well!
  13. venal4' states:The articulation is pretty much identical so that can't be used as an argument." #WTF# Okaaaay, DCD Sinestro has 11 POA, DCUC Sinestro 19 POA & yet, according to you, they have identical POA? You either need glasses or are in serious denial when it comes to the crap articulation DCD gives their figures.
  14. If you're just gonna pose it in that one pose or 2,which is all that it's 9 POA will allow, then it sure is better than the DCUC version that has 19 POA & is in scale with the rest of the DCSH/DCUC line. Hmmm? You can have the DCD, turnip colored, big brain version, leave the DCUC version to the rest of us!

    Marvel 2008

who said we wanted Cyke, Wolvie and (well ok i do want FA Storm), we want new X-men Characters just like u want new avengers characters. and frankly, have you counted how many ironmans we've gotten, plus more are comming due to the movie. If u really add it up, true more X-men Have been released so far, but i've done a count and there is a larger line-up of different avengers in figure form than X-men (too many damn Wolverines, not enough damn Polaris's). Avengers Fans Have gotten a hole mess of figures in '07 too, u got nothing to complian about greedy/selfish avengers fan. @grumpy@ there, i feel better. You fail to hear what I'm saying. You X-fans/Spidey fans have not only gotten tons of your favorite characters done bt TB/Hasbro over the yrs, but their rogues gallery as well. I know that quite alot of Avengers have been done lately, I'm talking more about their rogue's gallery of villians. Where are all of Ironman's classic enemies? Where are the Avengers most fearsome enemies at in figure form? I have no problem with Hasbro giving you X-fans figures that have never been done before (Spiral) but it pisses me off when I see more freakin Hulks, Wolvies, Cykes, Storms, etc being done again at the expense of a Wrecking crew member or Count Nefaria, Grey Gargoyle, Titanium man. I want a Thunderbird, classic Sunfire, Polaris, Forge, Strong guy, more members of Alpha Flight & Inhumans more than I do more rehashes of Spidey/X-characters that we already got! Gladiator & the Imperial guard! Hyperion & the Squadron Supreme! When are they gonna make them for their fans? TB/Hasbro have the license to make any MU charatcer they want, yet they continue to just do the most popular ones over & over again! Sorry, I don't need nor want x-amounts of the same characters every freakin yr.

    Marvel 2008

You X-fans continue to show how selfish you are with your " what, no X-characters'? Not enough Wolvies, Cykes, Storm figures for you guys? If it's not gonna be never before done X-characters such as Thunderbird, classic Sunfire , Forge & Nimrod coming out in 08', then great. An X-men free 08 would be fine with me. More Avengers/Ironman related characters, especially the villians, is what's needed in 08 for us long suffering Avengers/Ironman fans. You X-men/Spidey fans have gotten more than enough of both franchises over the last 5 freakin yrs! Dang, you're all greedy/selfish people!

    Marvel 2008

You say that like it's a bad thing. I gather you like buying the same figures over again just cuz they slap a new paint job on them. Amazing!

    Marvel 2008

Wow, 48 Spidey figures! Hmmm, 24 will be different Spidey variants & the other 24 will be more versions of Venom, Doc Ock, Lizard, Sandman, Hobgoblin, Mysterio, Vulture, etc. But knowing you Spidey freaks, you wont care. And that's what Hasbro is counting on! I'll pass. The MU redone in 3 3/4 scale? Big pass. Not even mildy interested in animated Spidey figs. The 2 packs sound promising, need more info. Hulk waves; will wait to see pics. Lack of X-news. Sweet, I could go a yr w/o more needless versions of Wolvies, Cykes, Storms , etc.
  19. While those clothed marvel figs look great, I just can't afford to pay more than $9.99 a fig. Maybe some of you are rich & can afford to spend $50-$60 per fig, I sure can't. Got bills to pay & mouths to feed. Not to mention lack of room space for such larger figs.
  20. Of course now that I'm low on funds I have seen in the last week, including today, 4 Hyrda variants & 6 regular versions & couldn't buy any! @grumpy@ So they do seem to be shipping them pretty evenly in my neck of the woods.
