  1. I know you were! LOL! I was just telling my story of how I didn't get a single copy when it was released, while society in general somehow managed to snap up a ton of them and they ended up on eBay. I just got really LUCKY because I happen to be at WWLA this past weekend. I remember hearing reports of how so many regulars at their comic book shop got burned like myself because people who do not frequent those same shops got copies. Pretty sad.
  2. I got lucky on those Cap books! My local comic book shop that I frequent had none at all by 1PM of that release day. I was one of the few unaware of this, while everyone heard it via radio stations, the local news, internet, etc. etc. and while at my local comic book shop, the phone was ringing like crazy, like the President got shot or something and people were asking if the book was in stock! I was flipping through the case fresh opened Diamond boxes and no sign of Captain America #25!!! Just being able to get those books for FREE for just being at Wizard World LA was another great incentive!!! At least something good came out of attending the show, other than getting signatures of course!! Bargain wise, no real deals at this show this year.
  3. Yea, last year it was the LA Marathon on the last day of the show, and this year we get stuck with THREE EVENTS going on at the same time on the last day!!! I can't believe parking was going up, I heard it went from $12 to $50 in a matter of hours!!! Screw that!!! I don't blame your buddies in regards to refunds for the booth fees. Wizard is unorganized. As an attendee, I hope they will have another next year. This year's was a drag, no real bargains. I still couldn't believe there was no vendor just selling supplies like poster tubes, comic book supplies, etc. etc. Everyone was out there trying to make a buck!! Ah well, I got a ton of books signed by the likes of Bernie Wrightson, Len Wein, and many others. And I finally got to meet and greet one of my favorite artists, Brett Booth!!!
  4. Yea, I bet Wizard will BS their statistics AGAIN. They did that last year w/ WW Chicago. Then all of a sudden, they fired the people who were in charge of Chicago's show, and replaced them w/ other people with a quickness!!! Corporate mofos!!! I hate Wizard and have stopped buying their magazines altogether, I only attend Wizard World LA to get books signed, not in support of the company as a whole!!
  5. Best deal of the show is the Hard Heroes Transformers busts. Two for $25!!! Got Prowl and Hot Rod last year as well for about the same price! People were buying them by the whole case! At the beginning of the show, they were $20 EACH!! Dope @$ sketch of Backlash by his creator, Brett Booth, who rarely makes show appearances! Thanks to Dabel Brothers for bringing him out! One of the most underrated and legendary artists out there!!!
  6. All for FREE!! Thanks to Atomic Comics for hooking it up with the first print newstand editions of the regular and variant editions of the SOLD OUT Captain America #25!!! My local comic book shops were sold out w/ a quickness and I was asked out!!! One of the highlights of attending WWLA!!!!
  7. What up. I was there ALL THREE DAYS and it was cool for Friday/Saturday, no Dub show. Yea, it was ghetto on Sunday for the Dub show, the whole area outside smelled like WEED!!! All the cars souped up were banging their hypy crap and had tons of passengers!!!! I parked in the neighborhood for FREE all three days, avoiding the $12 parking fee. It wasn't too far and I was able to go back and forth each day to return and get more comic books to get signed. 75% of the time I attend comic book shows is for artist/writer signings. Everyone was confused as to what the hell the lines were outside, the "American Inventor" line, the Dub Show, and someone made an unofficial WWLA line, then a volunteer came out and escorted everyone INSIDE the lobby where I and like 10 other people waiting patiently to get inside the venue. I met some local LA comic book fans and they were eyeing all the ladies, especially the ones from the Bridal Show, LOL!!! Good times!!! I've said it before, WWLA is a dope show only because of the A-list special guests that they bring in and those that come on their own. Right now, SDCC's guest list is so-so. I'll still attend SDCC because I get in for free as a professional and I actually live in San Diego. I will post pix of the haul and WWLA. In my opinion, the area of the convention center they had it in was SMALLER than last year's. The attendance was LOW, swap meet low. You can actually SEE the floor, and move around w/o hitting anyone. I was able to get signings from one booth and jump into the next within 30 minutes and still make time for others each day. Highlights include LONG lines for sketches from Tim Sale and J. Scott Campbell. Their lines were 10 deep at the opening of the hour and they weren't even there yet! Tim made it to his booth within the first ten minutes of each day and starting doing sketches, mostly characters from "HEROES". $40 for inkwash sketch is CHEAP. He goes in all detailed with a fine point pen. J.Scott Campbell was next to him but he came in usually two hours AFTER the show opened, leaving his fans waiting impatiently. I just wanted some books signed, and Wizard effed up, not advertising that Campbell was scheduled for a noon signing at their booth. Actually, Wizard did that all weekend!!! Some people were scheduled to sign, but were NOT advertised in the programs and online their website. Marvel was so cheap this year that all their guests were gonna be at WWLA on THEIR OWN. So they scheduled them to do booth signs on their behalf, so no one knew that Brett Booth was gonna be there until that weekend, who rarely does shows and was flown in by Dabel Brothers Productions. David Finch had his own booth at Artist Alley and he did a signing for three hours, and by the first hour, he was done, he just sat there for a few minutes until I rolled in with a huge stack of his books! After that he left! He didn't even stay for the whole three hours. I will post pix soon. They are still on my Memory Stick. BTW, San Jose I think will have SUPERCON this June, the guests are also top notch!!!
  8. Has anyone, especially in Southern California, seen any of the TRU exclusive G1 reissue of Soundwave? Majority of the TRU's here in San Diego either don't have any shelf tags for them or they did have them and all that's left is the shelf tag w/ the SKU and price. BTW, the TRU website no longer has Soundwave in their system, does that mean that it came and went?! It was delayed, then showed up, and now it's gone?!!?! Any info would help!!! Thanks!
  9. I agree. I went into my LCS Wednesday afternoon around 1PM and he said they were SOLD OUT. I was telling him it had to be the media pushing the hype! He then tells me about all the NEW people coming into the shop looking for that book. He was giving this customer some ish about who he was and why did he just start shopping at the LCS, LOL!!!! Funny stuff!! Hopefully I'll be able to pick up a copy this time around!!!
  10. True or false, heard that is Jesse Falcon's eBay account?!?!? Would that explain how this guy gets all the rare figures?!?!

    KB Toys

Hit up a KB's out here while visiting the parents and picked up Marvel Superhero Showdown figures Ghost Rider, red Daredevil, red Elektra, and black symbiote Spiderman for $3.99 each. They still have ML13-15 on the pegs, with no variants of course. X-Men Classics series 1 and 1.5 were also warming the pegs.
  12. I actually found these back in late November at my Big Lots. There was only one complete set, case fresh with some wrapping still on a few of them. There was no price tags on them or the shelf where I found them, I asked a rep and then she asked her manager, who looked really quick, before saying .99 cents!! Cheapest Transformers I've ever bought brand new!
  13. I agree that's wrong. Whatever happened to supporting the artists, both independent and highly profiled? I support the indie artists with their work by purchasing their self-made books and/or sketch books. I don't know why they would downsize the artists' alley, it's one of the most popular spots at SDCC. If anything, SDCC should make that whole area for Artists' Alley, and have the big corporation booths in a desiginated area, have each section categorized. This is like an example of Walmart giant taking business away from the mom and pop shops that closed down, due to corporate taking over. Sorry about your artist buddy, I hope he gets this resolved and finds a way to promote his book at SDCC.
  14. Wizard World LA is coming up in 2.5 weeks, just curious who's gonna be out there? I'll be there from San Diego and I've been attending this since the first one. It's not up there w/ SDCC, but it's a good event to check out. I've been meaning to hit up Wondercon and APE in the Bay area, but that's a LONG DRIVE from San Diego! LOL!! I'll be there mainly for the autographs for my comic book collection and job hunting for a freelance/permanent gig. Anyone else going?!?!
  15. Saw an endcap full of these at a San Diego WM today. Endcap was ran sacked, but there were PLENTY of each one, the reissued SW Episode III Obi Wan and Anakin w/ fire fury "action" feature, and the in demand Shadow Stormtrooper. I don't think these will be hard to find, should be the same as the Target exclusive. Good luck!!! I'm still debating if I should pick up now or wait until they are clearanced?
  16. That's DEAD ON!!! Your craftsmanship is really detailed and it shows!!! Nice work man! Keep it up!!!!
  17. From what I heard most of them did, but sometimes I hear things wrong... I actually talked to one of the sculptors with Toybiz at last summer's SDCC, who was with Jesse, and he said that Hasbro has their own sculptors. Guy was mad humble and he designed the Marvel Icons Hulk, which they had a prototype at the time. Hit up his website at inuart.com for his gallery of work and what he's worked on!
  18. They keep this up, the number of figures for the JLU and villains will be crazy!!! Looking for to them and more!!!! Funny, I used to think these were cheap "Happy Meal" toys, but the JLU line past and present has been awesome!!!!
  19. Wolverine and Cyclops look okay, I think because they are using TB's molds! LOL!!! The Wolverine reminds me of how he looked in Marvel VS Capcom 2!!!
  20. I've got MOC ML15 regular Moon Knight and Iron Man. What do you have to trade?
  21. Yo, I'll be heading out there to Wizard World LA this year in March. I didn't even know about that bust. I just registered as a professional and hopefully my creditenials go through just as smoothly as SDCCC's. How much is the bust and who is selling it? And is there a limit to how many a buyer can get, because I think I wanna pick one up for myself!
  22. If I had the chance to buy a ton of X-Men Classics variants, I'd jump on it. Bobby Drake is still heavily in demand, he's up to par with ML15's Destroyer on everyone's want list. Pick up a few and you will have no problem getting the Marvel Legend variants you seek. BTW, how much are the figures out there in New Zealand?!
  23. Been with Toybiz since the early '90s before they became a part of Marvel Comics and I finally saw the Hasbro ML's. In my opinion, they look WORSER than the final pictures that were released before distribution. I can't see myself paying MORE $$$$ than what Toybiz was charging at MSRP for poor looking products. I've seen all of the wave one figures except of course for Ultimate Iron Man, because of that insane idea that because they released a differed packaging, people are going ape sh** for the so called "variant". How come no one jumped on the bandwagon when figures were released upside down on the blister cards or they were released in the wrong blister cards (Wolverine figure in a Deadpool card, for example)?!?! With that said, Hasbro ML's are still flying off the shelves.
  24. I'm not really a luck guy in regards to ML variants, but I first noticed ML15's at a WM, found all the regulars a week or two before Thanksgiving. This past weekend, I got lucky in finding three of the five variants. They were the red Wasp, black Spiderwoman, and Genis (Captain Marvel). This was at a Target and it was when it was down time, think around 2PM. My advice is to be around when there is no crowd to deal with. I know for a fact that Targets also restock three times a day at odd times, so that's another factor to consider. Hope this helps! Also, Jesse Falcon has stated that the variants for this wave shouldn't be hard to find. and with the reports flying in on people finding them like it's every other case, he hasn't been wrong.
  25. Hey Thanos! How are you dude? I'm digging that Identity Crisis dio!!! Nice work as usual man!!!! Keep it up!
