Toy Guru speaks about Castle Greyskull and Cyber Monday
Card replied to Wheeljack35's topic in Masters of the Universe
Just a pre authorization before the actual charge. -
Hey everybody. I thought I would throw out a shout to this kickstarter by long time community member and overall nice guy Troy McKie. He has some nice prints and designs up on this one. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/403052518/awesome-by-design-print-series-troymckiecom

I ordered 10 Horde troopers...and yes I believe my wife will move me to the couch after she finds out. Its crazy I know but I have wanted an army of Horde troopers since I was 10 (I didnt even have 1 as a kid). So add the two from my subsand I have 24 troopers, stupid but it makes me giddy inside. I blew my toy budget for the rest of the year and the castles havnt even hit.

OOOch this is going to hurt.

Nah he was frozen, I have the figure.

I subbed and did my part like I always do. I have my own opions on Matty and these meters but I do love my DC classics. I just hope if this by some miracle does happen we get at least a single Legion member next year.
-
I still believe Ghostbuster was slated to end anyway, but they used the "lack of subs" as a way to pump up their model and keep people scared. How much you wanna bet DC is supposed to end and they will use that for this years scare tactic. I just don't believe these meters, maybe im old and jaded but they stink of marketing scheme to me. Now I personally hope im wrong on the DC front, I need more Legion...lol.

I got to play around with the proto at SDCC and let me say I am very happy that I purchased one. Really when you see it in person the pictures dont do it justice. It really is huge, much bigger than the pictures led me to believe. And yeah the tester that he shows in that video is very cool. I would love for that to go up for a charity auction, I imagine they could raise quite alot off that.

I knew that these figures were not going to be worth buying because they have nothing to do with the vintage line. They were basically custom designs. Some were ok some were just bad. I did not buy a figure from that line. My friend got a castle greyskull man and passed on the rest. When they showed the first figure at sdcc or power con I knew these were going to have nothing to do with the vintage or filmation line. At least Photog was supposed to be in the line, he just never made it into production. Draego and Castle Greyskullman are two of the best figures produced, Mattel did a great job with them. Actually aside from Spector im happy with the 30th. I took the spade and deadpool head off my Spector, added a clock in the spades place and a Molaar head with some goggles and he actually looks pretty good. Goofy ass colors but at least he now looks okay on my shelf. I will admit Sir Laserlot was a bit of a let down, but I actually dig on Cy-Chop. He is weird in that oh so masters of the universe way. Laserlots problem is that he is just so boring, he really needs a splash of color to give him something.

Somehow I don't think that even the truest of fans would ever stoop to this level of "look at me" if they were brand manager of a toy line. Creating figures with their own likeness and Mary Sue characters, etc. is the result of a rare breed of arrogant persons. If you have ever seen him at a convention you would know just how true this is. He acts like a celebrity, arrogant, pompous and has an air of superiority around him that cannot be matched. I mean he's a brand manager for a toy company, yet he acts like he is some hotshot. My friend at comic con (who is not a toy collector, works in the comic industry and doesn't know who the hell Scott is) said it best, "he acts like he is king of the nerds". Scott is a big shot in his own mind, and many fans help him believe this as they almost bow to him. Seriously he gives people autographs, who the hell would want his autograph? At least the horsemen are artist, so I can understand some of the reverence they receive in the collector community. But Scott is a middle management salary man. I am also sick of the repeated threats and bull. I think these graphs are fake and just a way to drum up more subs. If the lines are going to end then trust me, Mattel has already pulled the plug. Veiled threats do nothing but continue the sky is falling rhetoric from last year.

Okay let me help you with a few Bottom two Are Elkhorn the dwarf and Melf the elf from LJNsDungeons and Dragons line. The American Flagg looking guy is the Shield from the MightyCrusaders line. Batman is from the Hasbro DC 9” DC Super Heroes. Green Astronaut Alien is from Fisher Prices AdventurePeople. The guy with green pants looks like a tonka figure, but withoutthe date stamp I don’t know. That purple guy looks like a Toxic Avenger like character, again need the date stamp to know what company made him. Hope that helps, post the date stamps and maybe I can help with the other two.

Would you care if the line dies. Why or why not?
Card replied to Doom Saber's topic in Masters of the Universe
Precisely. Come 2014 we'll be entering the 6th year of the toyline and yet no characters that complement other characters (He-Ro without Eldor, King Greyskull without Veena or Battle Lion, Marzo and Keldor without Miro etc.) most of which having to do with bad decisions. I still regard the 30th anniversary as the most poorly thought out aspect of the line and a squandered opportunity to fill out the ranks. Yep, it was a trainwreck. It didn't even begin to approach the idea of living up to the hype or the potential of a 30th anniversary, let alone actually doing it. And we got one cool character/figure out of it in Draego-Man. Photog was the only actual classic done for that line that I think should have been included. Dreago was an awesome character that would have fit just fine in the normal line. It should have been characters like Horde Mummy, Eldor or the horde robot and such, not Scotts boyhood dream. -
Corey is a great guy and a regular at Joe con, ive had nothing but good service from him. If your at all concerned I would drop him a line and ask.

SWEET picture! Where did you get it? From my Hong Kong friend's facebook page. Too awesome. I just looked on facebook and saw the picture too. We do know the same guy. I'm glad this guy is sharing the Voltron love because I think leagal issues prevent anyone associated with Miracle Productions or selling the item from posting any info here. Finally after all these years, this will truly make a good companion piece to my Toynami Masterpiece Lion Force Voltron! That's great. Vehicle Voltron is supposed to be in scale with Masterpiece Lion Voltron. So they're both about 13 inches. I hope Vehicle Voltron sells well enough that Miracle Productions will consider doing a Gladiator Voltron. I would love to have all three. While not a miracle production, Evolution toys is doing a Albagas http://www.hlj.com/product/EVT57122/Act . That looks like the best we are going to get.

MOTUC Secret "Spirit of Hordak" Figure Revealed (Update)
Card replied to The Wire's topic in Masters of the Universe
No need to get excited everybody, these will be back. I really doupt that at the end of the day this will be that rare. I would bet we will see him during teh black friday sale and probally at least monthly until then. Heck I missed him, didnt even know about it, and im not worried. If theres one thing this line has shown me its that patience usually pays off on anything outside of the sub. -
what time? My bad, Sat. night after the casino dinner...usually right after the awards. Just look for the very large group in the lobby ( no idea where the meeting is until I get to the con and look around but the lobby is a good start) afterwards and join the fun. You can always look me up as im around, or you can ask over at the joedeclasified booth if Gary is there.

At least the hub will give prime an ending with the movie special, cartoon network and Disney could learn a thing or two.
-
Those of us going should at least grab a beer...hope you guys can make it to the CFB meeting on Sat.
-
Ive got both the Kenners and the original Hasbros, I think I would have to pass on new 12" due to space.
-
Maybe, maybe not, its really a wash. Im not sure lowering the count would have helped that much, I think haveing enough for your subs would have been the answer. Instead they chose to have such a small amount that he sold out in around a min, thats just crazy. I simply dont see the point of early access if they are not going to have enough product to last. Its kind of a slap in the subbers face, just like fang man is for the non subbers. But it is what it is, at the end of the day its not a make or break for me.

Relax on the strobo mega, he will be available later this year. I also missed out today, got caught up in the capcha and he was sold out under me while in checkout. Kinda crummy to promote him and not have enough but not a deal breaker. Its bussiness as normal for Matty; bad website design coupled with them being able to say how the guy sold quick on early access and hope for total sell outs at the cons. The TOD sorceress is not rare and I really doubt Strobo will be as well. Really if you wait until the fall cons this guy will be an easy ebay buy id bet.
