  1. Hey guys.....I am into collecting other 1/18 stuff with my Joe and I ran across a preorder for the 21stC XD Eastern Warrior figures. You may have remembered seeing these a few months back at either last year's SDCC or Toy Fair (can't remember which).

I always envisioned making a dio with Snake Eyes sneaking in and tearing up on UBL and Al Qaeda. Now I can make that dio with these figs.

Modern: Iraqi Freedom Series 1 (6 figures)

  2. I have never been a huge fan of BTR, but I bought them anyway to support the GI Joe line. If they go away, I won't miss 'em.

  3. Then I suggest your best way to let him know you complaints would be to either A.) Post him a question on the GIJCC board, or B.) Don't join the club and pass on buying the exclusives due to QC issues. He is the club prez, so I guess he can run it anyway he wants and if I don't like it, I shouldn't join.

You are right, it is my money.

  4. I'd probably want to know how he handles everyone criticising him, lol.  And then ask about the chances of a move to fewer figures in the con sets & more vehicles.  L:ike a team set using skyhawks or armadillos or trouble bubbles, something like that.

I loved Brian's imitation of the posters who complain about the sets he puts out. He kind of breaks into an Urkel-like voice. "I don't like the paint job." or "Why they use those arms and those legs." It was too funny. I agree, some people pick up on the most trivial items and blast him and the club for it.

I am not going to complain about anything except the darn lines.....and even then, meeting folks like Tazzz and Zod, it wasn't bad at all......although I did miss two dinner reservations, but hey, I can miss a meal. The 3-3/4" collectors had a lot of stuff offered to them and from the looks of it, we ate it up. That blows that the nice dealers (and we know who they are) didn't make out as much as they hoped. I could give a rodents behind if the regular over-priced toy dealers (and we know who they are too) make a profit or not. Brian said east coast cons tend to bring in more dealers than the west coast cons. I wonder what MN will bring?

Brian can come out with more or less exclusives next year and I am STILL gonna go to the con and I am STILL gonna buy it. Brian can come out with a crappy paint scheme or obsure figure repaint, but I am STILL gonna buy it. After sitting through TWO of his club roundtable discussions now, I 100% appreciate the work, cost and effort he puts into the sets for us.....right down to the file cards and box art. Yes, yes, I know people complain about the prices, especially for non-members, but this is CLUB people. If you want the benefits, join. Don't complain if you don't. Anyone who golfs on this board knows what it is like to pay member's green fees and non-member's green fees. Same darn thing. I think people tend to forget the con isn't just about the exclusives. There is the entire experience too......like standing in line for five hours. @loll@

  5. You all know what I'm talking about . The stupid boxes/ bubbles, where we have to cut every corner to get in. and more twist ties then you've ever seen. Not only that but the bottom of the box afterwards, ( ofcourse you all keep the boxes) Well what should we do? unfold them or keep them folded up?, where they just take up too much space......Like Eagle101st said it takes forever to even get to the vehicles (venom striker, mechs, hornet,ect....0

No doubt.....it kinda forces you to invest in a pair of wirecutters. :)

You want to talk about a lot of wires.....the BBI F-18 I got has loaded with them. You almost needed a plasma torch to get it separated from the cardboard! :D

  6. Yeah, cash and travlers checks are the way to go. I was at the front of the second line and I was only there for three hours, so I feel your anger at the 5 hours......however, it did give me a chance to meet Tazzzman and a few others. When they opened the desk up to the second line, THEN they made the cash only line.

Amen on the better equipment......didn't their one and only CC machine break down late into the night? I am pretty sure there is an on-line CC auth site that retailers can use to get authorizations via he web. Maybe they should look into that.

  7. Whats up with the Selection of Joe Characters in the Exclusives, there currently seems to be a strong selection in favour of Rareness over suitabilty or even actual popularity (Hardtop, Major Storm)

At the GIJCC roundtable, the group expressed a fondness for the rare character. I for one never had a Hardtop or Major Storm, so I am glad the club decided to use those figures. The other issue came down to tools/molds available of the figures. He said some molds would be available for all but one part of the body, so then he would have to improvise another tool/mold into the mix to create a 'new' figure of an existing character.

  8. And why doesn't the Zartan/Hawk 3pack include a normal Zartan version, before he begins to transform?

He answered this at the GIJCC Roundtable. It had something to do with the old Zartan head mold not fitting properly with the Hawk body. He said he knew people would complain about it, so they did the best they could. I'll accept that answer. On the brightside, we all got a Tiger Force Hawk. :D

That might not be the answer you were looking for, but he did express difficulty putting this three-pack together.

  9. Great to finally see a pic of it. They still have the squardron or plane number on the side as the one I have, so they didn't change the decals there. The Jolly Roger markings just don't look right on an F-18......but it is a cool exclusive nevertheless.

  10. I don't follow the BBI rumor sites too closely, so I don't know for sure, but my guess is that they will come out at least with another repaint. BBI did that with the Blackhawk (USAF Pavehawk) and I think they did a repaint with the Little Bird. The F-18 is currently in two styles. The one shown is an exclusive from Bad Cat of the VFA-82 Mauraders. The standard paint is of the Golden Dragons. Now there was a black one at the SDCC. BBI had the black F-18, limited to only 4 for $250. They also had a F-18 with the Jolly Roger's Skull-n-Crossbone black tail.....but as you know, the JRs fly 14s and not 18s.

The F-16 got pushed back to October :(

  11. Well.....I know we all give the FS figs a hard time, but you shouldn't pass up getting a couple CGIs or Night Vipers. Beyond that, I would suggest a few vehicles such as the FANG or Skystriker if you current one is in a state id disrepair.

  12. That would be cool if they decided to do an issue on Cobra La :)

    NOOOOOOOOO!

.....well not in the RAH comic world anyway. If they want to kill of Reloaded, they can put them there! :D
