  1. heh heh.....the GIJCC did a Dreadnok set and they are STILL selling it to this day on their site. The noks are cool (frankly I'd buy them no questions asked!), but I don't think they have quite the mainstream following as some other characters. Case in point....the single pack Buzzers and W2 CP 'noks warming the pegs I see......

While it's true the Con set warmed shelves, I blame that mostly on the awful Dreadhead figures which comprised half the damned set! 6 exact figures that were supposed to be 3 sets of identical twins, all cousins with one another, who all hate Beachhead for some personal affront?

First off, shouldnt it have been Cross Country, the self-identified red-neck, who managed to get on the bad side of six country bumpkin Patty Dukes? Secondly, did anyone give figs (flying or not) about the Dreadheads to begin with? Even the most popular 'nok, Zartan, was a seperate exclusive, making the box-set itself a big fat dud.

I do think it's interesting that Buzzer isn't selling briskly, but I think that might have been a consequence of the other two Noks being held off. As it is, I went to my local TRU today, and where a dozen buzzers and Serpentors stood two weeks ago, only Wave 7 and Wave 3 2-packs were. Lots of old Destro/Breaker packs, however. Could be the Dreadnoks 2-pack has spurred on the sale of those excess Buzzers when a customer sees he can get all three at once!

It's not the fact that it's a "Dreadnok" pack that it wasn't as successful as others, it was the execution. I think it was the "Dreadhead" factor that collectors didn't really like.

Yeah yeah....little from column A, little from column B. I also think the GIJCC made too many of them. Anyway, definately my least favorite con set

  2. The Patriot was OK.....and I think KB (??) did a repaint of the old Mobat in crimson colors. I don't remember if that was motorized....a search to YoJoe would solve that line of thinking.....anyway, I like the BBI M1A1's....they are fairly affordable and they look awesome. If Hasbro could capture that lighting in a bottle like they did with the HUMVEE, that would be very cool.

  4. Probably late adopters of the 25th line. It seems collectors are always looking for the next "hawt line" and when they come in late, they have to back track a little. The 25th line has really taken off and I see a lot of people that never showed the least bit of interest in Joes, jumping on board because they can't find Marvel Legends, DCUC, or some other "hawt line." Once they grow tired of Joes, they'll move onto the next line and dump all their Joes on the message board and Ebay.

This is quite true. I have ran into a couple late adopters in the aisles. To a man, they all wanted three figures.....Black Timber SE, Yellow Stalker, and the SDCC Destro. In fact, one guy was happy he found the "gold Destro" until I told him that all he had was the IG Destro. Sorry to be a buzz kill...... I told another guy good luck on Timber and he wrote me an email basically saying NO JOKE! I would have thought in this day and age they would have found out about some of this stuff on the internet just after jumping on......I mean how high does YOJOE.com appear in Google as a result when you search "GI Joe"? Still, the new guys I found have all been pretty friendly and have been appreciative for the tips so they just don't waste their time.

  5. I don't know if I would be in the minority or not, but once my Joe vehicles start to transform into vehicles, I am throwing in the towel. I tolerated it in the comics, but I will totally pass on them if they try to incorporate it into the toy line.

Not bad ideas though. Keep those wheels turning!

  6. I like where your going with that. I seriously would like a devils due 5 pack with Wraith, Alexander, DD v1 Stormshadow, and DD acurate versions of Zartan and Serpentor. A dreadnok 5 pack with road pig, zarana, zanya, zandar, and either thrasher, zanzibar, or monkey wrench. What about a green shirt 5 pack, and a 5 pack with some of the original guys like tripwire, short fuze, zap, steeler, etc. I would like to see general reys troops that were cobra in disguise!! We need to save the drivers for the vehicles. An arctic 5 pack would be cool, with snow serpent 1 and 2, some gi joe arctic troops or mains in arctic gear, and what about something new with an arctic B.A.T. ( we have a space bat so why not?) A Marine 5 pack could be cool with EELS1 and/or 2, hydro vypers, maybe undertow and deep six!! OMG theres so much that could be done!! Also I am all for the army builder 5 packsm, like we could have BATS v2 with Overkill v1. I like the BAT v1 and 2 figures as well as the BAAT, but the rest were kind of wierd.

I'd certainly be down for a Wraith!!

  7. Ziegelstein und Mörser

Na Germany has a bunch of other cool toys that aren't found here.

It's Ziegelstein und Mörtel, a Mörser is a mortar ;)

What cool toys are you writing of? Playmobil and bubblegum? I really don't know any cool German toys, at least for an older audience.

Been there done that! I've been to the TRU in Kiel and a toy store in downtown Dusseldorf and saw nothing Joe. I have no idea how you find stuff locally. My friends there did get me a trooper off of eBay from some dealer in Hamburg.....but if it wasn't for them, I would not buy anything in Germany seeing how the dollar is stacking up against the Euro. Other than that, I love Germany and would stay if it weren't so damn expensive to live. PM me and let me know what you are looking for and maybe I can help you out. Still, shipping back to Germany is a lot from here too. I just sent a 2.2 kilo box back to my friends and it was $40 for a 6-10 business day delivery time.

There was a cool shop in Cologne where i live where you could find old Joes and other old and new import stuff. But the prices were ex-orbital and therefore it's closed. Back then you could go to TRU and find a decent amount of 'Action Force', that's what GI Joe was called here.

But the 25th Anniversary line is a no-go for TRU, even Comicshops don't sell them. So you're right, chief, locally they're impossible to find. I kinda referred to German onlineshops. And thanks for the offer, i think i'll drop a PM soon...

I'll be looking for it. :)

  8. Did 9/11 help or hurt the Gi Joe comic?

hmmm.....I don't think 9/11 played a positive nor negative role for the comic. The comic was set to come out anyway with some decent hype behind it. Depending on who you talk to, it is the writing that did more to hurt the comic. I was part of that core audience that was going to get it regardless, so I am afraid my opinion may be biased.

  9. ok, let me rephrase that....we need "25th" Green Shirts

There is supposedly a 25th green shirts vs firefly 5 pack coming out, BBTS had the preorder listed for awhile but it was taken down and it was up for preorder on TRUs website

    Patience! :)
