  1. Yeah, I am going with Clam. I didn't see the cartoon all that much back in its infancy, and wasn't even aware of the comic until the late '80s. I played with the toys as they were, without the storyline that was given in the cartoon. I felt and still do feel, that they were f^#king great! Nice detail, realistic designs, and poseability. Nothing else mattered. These are to me, the best action figure line of all time. Just look at that bad-a$$ box art, and the colors...man! The new toys look like bad characters from Rob Liefeld's Youngblood...no wait...let me think of one of his other bad titles...Brigade (anyone remember that drivel). They look like detailed Fisher Price toys. 'nuff said..
  2. I am 24 years old. Time is flying and I can't catch up!!!
  3. Yeah, they do help a lot when I purchase an original figure, but all in all, I don't mind. I do prefer having the whole card instead of the filecard being cut out.
  4. Here in San Diego, a Christian group has boycotted the new Harry Potter flick. Is it me, or are these people bored and have nothing else better to do than protest a film? C'mon man, are we going to hell for watching a film?
  5. If there is anything that really bothers me is when people have to put down the original MOTU line, by saying that the new one is an improvement. Just bugs me. With Mattel, they redesigned the original figures with taste. They seemed to have taken their time in their designs. Joe vs. Cobra, are simply fully poseable Happy Meal toys. It looks as though they have are rushed Rob Liefeld influenced designs, with elephantitis in the feet and hands. The designers are adding a cute element to the figures by giving them large appendages. Also I think that the folks making these toys, need to do research on military equipment, which seems like the original designers in the '80s were going for. Today's designers are just going on a whim with their designs it seems, no homework, just assumption. The chopper for example looks like Fisher Price made it. Looks like one of those discount military vehicles an aunt would buy you for your birthday because Woolworth was having a clearance sale. What happened to the idea of building a vehicle and adding decals to it? That was one of the best parts of getting these toys back then. That, and beautiful box art. In a sense, these bad japanese cartoons are perverting the style of things today. It is too bad these aren't influences from good Manga from the likes of Katsuhiro Otomo, or Masamune Shirow.
  6. Tell you what, the actors of today are just industry fodder, in that they are just faces to sell a product. Hell, don't call them actors, they are entertainers...monkeys if you will. Remakes, and MAXIM reader movies are abound...when will this stop. So in all, I don't like any of the actors that are out there. I can't stand Affleck, any of the teen entertainers, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Oh, and what's up with Eddie Murphy, he isn't funny anymore. His last good film was Coming to America.
  7. ...inspired your storylines when playing with your Joes back in the day? For me they are as follows: -Predator -Commando -ALIENS -Full Metal Jacket
  8. Sheesh! This is hardcore. I knew this kind of debate would happen. Just like old times in the sandbox in the mid '80s. G.I. Joe gets my vote for poseability and masked figures with martial arts in their repertoire, but I dig Darthmaul, and other Lucas characters that get cheated. But c'mon, how can one crap on the 12" Joe; unfair. I just hate Hasbro for screwing with the plastics, which look like wax. Can't we all just get along...hey and another thing, He-Man is gaining my attention more than the new Joes, there is something wrong here production wise. Hasbro better get in check man. The vehicles they create are an antithesis to goo @*- d taste.
  9. Actually, this bike is bad. It is an awful design. The best word to describe it is "BOBO." It looks like Rob Liefeld designed it for a new Joel Schumacher Batman film. C'mon Hasbro, hire a design team that has good taste in vehicles.
  10. I am sad. He was and always will be my idol at bass playing. God bless 'im..
