  1. Hello, Dr. Lector Actually, I'm not in a group of people who believe that "change is wrong." Heck, I'm changing the focus of my web site-building efforts, I change my computer's background once a week, I change the TV channel, I change lanes when I drive, I change...well, I hope you get the point Thanks for visiting my site's news section I don't believe my "three-weeks notice" conveys an attitude; if anything is conveyed, it is that I wanted to give enough advance notice so that perhaps another site or a new one could pick up the reins of summarizing the daily Joe news and that I still care about the G.I.Joe fans, who are some of the nicest, most creative, helpful and caring people I have ever met. Also, the statement is from a fan who faces the hard realization that he can no longer spend three hours every Sunday through Thursday searching for G.I.Joe news and publishing it while trying to launch a new web site dedicated to his favorite comic book writer/artist. I don't recall talking with you several times. Are you sure you aren't confusing me with someone else? I've only posted to this board one other time, which was in response to your critique of my critique of the G.I.Joe: Season I - Part I DVD box set. So why would you say that I have "given off the attitude that if its not 1985 again, he wants nothing with Gi Joe" when you don't know me? In the realm of sweeping generalizations, I wouldn't say *nothing* excites me In the early days of building QKTheatre.com (circa 1998), I had faith that there was still an audience for Sunbow's G.I.Joe series. However, I realized that building pages showcasing the intelligence of the series would not be enough to reintroduce the series to fans. So I built a news section that had one goal - to help build interest in the world of G.I.Joe. To reach this goal, I tried to report on every facet of G.I.Joe: toys, comic books, mini-busts, videos, mini-statues, stores carrying the aforementioned products, the Sunbow series and staff, CGI ads and movies, fan fiction, fan sites, dio-stories, dioramas, customized toys and much more. Since Rhino has started to work on the second season DVD box set, I find that my campaign to help promote the Sunbow series via the news section, which has been active for over three and a half years, has entered its final days. But I'm not sad. I can only smile in satisfaction because I am about to see a dream come true - the entire Sunbow series on DVD. However, as I near the conclusion of my journey, I find that no longer hold any nostalgic feelings or see anything vibrantly new that compels me to continue to write the daily news reports about the world of G.I.Joe. Instead, I have only a desire to build a new web site (*gasp* - change! ). Speaking of web sites, for those who are worried, QKTheatre.com will not disappear on June 29. And to those who have written so many wonderful compliments about the news section via email and on the other G.I.Joe-related message boards, I offer you my heartfelt thanks. I said it before and I will say it again - G.I.Joe fans are the coolest people in the world Best, David Thornton >> http://qktheatre.com
  2. Hey, Doc - I hope you don't review books or movies for a living While you believe that I acted like the end of the world was near after realizing the season two opening sequences were included with most of the season one episodes, I should let you know that the words in my review were from a fan who has repeatedly offered to help Rhino over the years (series information, bonus materials, contact information for interviews, etc.) and found out that the offers always fell upon deaf ears. When the Season I - Part I DVD set was released and included the wrong opening sequences, I was unnerved that I had wasted my time trying to contact them and annoyed with myself for pinning my hopes on a decent DVD box set from a TimeWarner company. The rest of the Season I - Part I review is just my typical hyper-analytical self whenever I examine DVDs, books and comics at home as well as portfolios, applications and stock histories at work. What can I say? I like grinding details and offering better solutions Anyway, for what it's worth, once all of the G.I.Joe DVDs are released, I'm 99% certain that QKTheatre.com will disappear. Best, David Thornton >> http://qktheatre.com
