That's really a shame - I was just thinking the other day about how I wanted to see them take on classic Rat King and this is not what I expected. The original had bugs crawling on him and crazy eyes and was generally very sinister. Both the animated and toy versions from what a brief search returns had very square jawed faces while this sculpt looks much younger and cleaner. If playmates is throwing a wrench this late in the game they should just drop it and get some of their licensing fee back because that's a jerk move to wait this long - though I admit I don't know the full story and maybe they were always supposed to "re-imagine" the designs instead of just redoing the exact same design larger with more technically detailed sculpting.

New Jurassic World Hammond Collection Dennis Nedry And More
interoceptive replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
I was beginning to worry we'd never get a Hammond in the Hammond collection. Excited for Nedry's stick but how about a can of Barbasol? -
I'm really amazed at not only the quality (I have a few of the Ultramarines and Orcs) but the sheer volume and depth of product that Joytoy has been offering for Warhammer. And they are still doing a few of the sci-fi military figures that I love too like the upcoming Frogman which looks like the best one yet.

Heck yeah, brain helmet! Range Vipers were cool and that was a wild helmet - a skull with brain wrinkles pattern on top. I wonder what the original designer/artist was thinking with that, was it just for intimidation or is is supposed to look like some kind of special armor or material that the military used or were considering at the time.

Hasbro G.I. Joe Classified Snow Job First Look
interoceptive replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
That Trouble Bubble is insane and I never ever would have expected that, but It was one of my #1 wants. I didn't think other people loved it as much as I did. And the Tele-Viper is a total upgrade of the original; the original was cool but looked like a pencil pusher. This Tele-Viper looks like a soldier with a technical specialty, not a just a technician. I would love an extra vest if they're going to give us 3 heads but that would just be icing on the cake. Also the Steel Corps are perfect, another favorite of mine updated with great details and tons of cool parts. -
TMNT Retro Storage Shell Turtle Figures From Playmates Toys
interoceptive replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
What an odd choice. I'm not on any TMNT specific boards so I could be wrong but it feels like these will only interest 1. Collectors of rare TMNT stuff who don't care if it's cool or looks good but care more about oddities and rarities... but then they would prefer the real thing since their interest is in the "rarity" of the genuine item 2. Collectors who want a more complete TMNT collection but can't get the rare item so may be happy to have this instead. Although vintage collectors who care about something being "the original" and not just looking like it wont be interested so that's a 70/30 split I think. 3. Collectors who genuinely consider this particular item to be good with or without nostalgia and just like it regardless of whether its the original or re-release. There may be dozens of these people but these particular figures were some of the weaker more gimmicky ones IMO so it's hard to imagine someone right now looking at these and going, you know what there are so many well sculpted fun TMNT figures but these right here are what I really want. 4. At this price-point many may grab one as a curiosity. I have to admit I am a bit smitten by Raphael's packaging with implores the reader to "Shove it in my shell". -
Four Horsemen - Mythic Legions: Necronominus Wave
interoceptive replied to toynewman's topic in Action Figure News
I think this is shaping up to be one of their best assortments yet. There's a pretty broad appeal here between the high fantasy undead aspect and then some good low fantasy semi-realistic knight-type characters without too much flourish but enough to make them interesting - I think that's something that will appeal to a lot of people. -
Zim00 Toy collection mostly 80's toys part 1

Great collection. I'd cover that window and supplement the light other ways because UV light wreaks havoc on plastic over time! The window isn't really usable as is anyway and you would cover it in a non-damaging way to mitigate outside temp & humidity fluctuations to help your AC and to protect the collectibles. -

Perfect execution and great recipe, I just bought one of those bodies (Ghostbusters Plasma Gozer) for the same reason. -
Custom Marvel Legends style XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS

Wow, that's an amazing custom! -
I think they're great. I put Krampus out last year and both out this year right next to our old nativity set and got lots of compliments - Santa reminds people of the old fashioned European style St. Nick or the old ornate porcelain figures but done with real cloth with gold accents and it just looks amazing. None of us had heard of Krampus until the figure came out but now they are both part of our Christmas tradition.

I really hope those Skeletons aren't hard to get. I know it says exclusive but I hope it's not some kind of convention or extremely limited release. I definitely want at least two sets and I'm hoping we'll be able to preorder them on places like BBTS and EE. The Teela and Zoar set was "Exclusive" right? Hoping these are in that same vein. Another good option would be the "build to order" window, I just stress about missing the window of opportunity in that case because toys aren't always top of my mind and I might be on a trip or who knows so hopefully if they do that again there is at least a week long window.

G.I. Joe Hito Kara Kuri Snake Eyes Figure From Flame Toys
interoceptive replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
Now this is definitely a more interesting direction for using the GI Joe license. I really hope this does well because I would love to see re-imagining of more GI Joe characters like this instead of just slightly smaller scaled model kit versions of existing designs. -
On a positive note, the other retro O-ring sets and the Stinger were perfect! But, the Duke/CC set was the weakest because for some reason they made duke extra bright and give CC a "reaction" style gun that doesn't suit the figure and makes the carded figure look worse. I didn't even pick up this set on sale despite getting multiples of the others.

I think some people are influenced by rarity such that they consciously or subconsciously disparage figures that are easy to find and cheap but I think they did a great job with Lady Jaye! I like the regular Classified and Retro version. A figures scarcity and monetary value isn't their only worth.

I'm with you. I was really excited when I heard D&D figures were announced but somehow I didn't know they would be retro toon versions. I was hoping to see Hasbro would tackle beasts and monsters and adventuring archetypes (fighter, mage, etc) from all across D&D in an updated high detail modern style. I'm not that interested in specific named characters. I was thinking of things like Bugbear, Half-Orc Barbarian adventurer, Goblin/Kobold 2-pack. And of course you'd have lots of cross line appear with LOTR fans with figures like an Elf Ranger/Archer and Halfling. But as you said I am happy for those who were wishing for this! Hope these sell well and we all get what we're after.
