  1. I think the fact that it got within 500 and hasbro didn't bother to extend the campaign suggests that the addition of Malakili made the 9000 threshold insufficiently profitable despite being the stated goal. The entire campaign has felt lackluster so its really not that much of a surprise that they let it go down the drain. Since it makes no sense to run 3 haslabs concurrently (and right around the holidays to boot), i feel like the star wars team had originally planned to do this rancor later (especially if rumors about one showing up in Boba fett are true.. no idea). Perhaps they had to accelerate their plans - why? to help hype up Hascon, to get ahead of a 2022 increase in costs, to boost Q4 profits, who knows. I also wonder about the cost of the license. The bar for Haslab tiers has been set pretty high for collectors due to Sentinel and Galactus, and it seemed like the BS team was just unable to match that value. Not enough new tooling/new characters, even the last minute addition of Malakili didn't move the needle much as negative sentiment had already set in imo. Then there is the price point.. I think there is certainly a lot of interest in a big Rancor figure, but many would prefer a lower price point and are willing to sacrifice articulation and paint apps to achieve that. With some more media presence, even something along the lines of the Mattel T-Rex seems feasible to me, after all Rancor is basically the Star Wars equivalent of a T-rex to begin with (although i don't know if they can run as fast). As it is, Rancor is indeed an awesome Star Wars monster, but he is just not as significant to Star Wars as Sentinels are to X-men or Galactus is to the wider marvel universe. TL;DR $350 is just more than many want to spend on a rancor, regardless of the tiers. I also wonder if there was a little blowback from how the Sentinels turned out. Their release was too late to affect Galactus backing, but the fact that they all had defective ratchets in the knees, combined with Hasbro's "no exchange" policy for the Sentinels, may have given some 2nd thoughts about backing additionals haslabs. Certainly the BS team made a big point of talking about rancor's stability but it shows what happens when you get a defective haslab sent to you. We can see the GI Joe haslab is also having trouble reaching its goal, so in the end it may just boil down to the stupidity of having 3 haslabs at once, competing with holiday spending on top of that. But i do think some of these other issues played roles in the failure of the Rancor Haslab. As far as what hasbro will take away from this, its hard to say. my guess is they will focus on a ship next time, probably 1:18 scale, and tbh that might make more sense. But hopefully they will also go back to the drawing board to try and get fans a big Rancor at a price point both sides can live with.
  2. i think baroness and viper were reportedly going up at 9 am ET (about a half hour from now). also i think they are preorders, in which case target will authorize the charge repeatedly until the order ships (i.e., they charge you, then remove the charge, every few weeks until it ships). so its best to charge using an account with ample funds to cover those charges which can come at seemingly random times. Hope it works out for you
  3. Just a note that target has one of those "spend $100 get $25 off" sales on their website that applies to preorders of these spawn figures.
  4. Should be cool but $40 is probably too steep for me. Looking forward to seeing how the figure turns out though
  5. wow, mcfarlane's finally getting around to making some Batman figures! About time!
  6. Might get the KS megafig depending on how it looks (and if I can actually get it from WM, by no means a given). I think Harley looks good but wonder how the dress affects articulation. Polka dot man looks interesting to me too. Nevertheless these are all likely passes for me except maybe king shark. I just don’t have much interest in live-action DC figures. However it’s possible the movie could change my opinion
  7. well, maybe target will cancel orders for people who ordered more than 1 in one order. But that just means they will likely pop back into stock a handful at a time and quickly sell out again. Or they will just not bother - i kinda feel like target just wants to get this over with... sell them all as quickly as possible so they won't have collectors waiting outside at opening and calling constantly, etc.
  8. But Jeff Goldblum is objectively taller than Chris Hemsworth, so i don't see the two being the same height as a problem. I do think the lack of digital faceprinting for the Jurassic line does make it hard to put them alongside mcu figures even if you pose creatively to mask any height/scale issues, though, especially if you are doing closeup pics. But its not like these figures are not recognizably the Jurassic Park characters they are supposed to represent or anything. I only have Ray Arnold, and he seems to scale pretty well with my comic ML figures given that Jackson is 6'2", his head seems slightly larger than ML heads but i think Jackson just has a big head. he does look too big next to say mcu Captain America. But i mainly got him to use as a generic scientist alongside Moira McTaggert's generic female scientist because i like the 1:12 scale old-school computer (wish it came with a mouse though!) because the severed arm accessory is hilarious So given that i don't plan on using him in mcu displays, he will work nicely with my ML collection.
  9. She’s an amazing actress, I’ll admit I don’t know much about her directorial chops, guess I should check out ‘one night in Miami’’. I’d be pretty excited if she were cast as this earths version of Lois lane or Lex Luthor though
  10. I thought target had pushed back shipping dates for the rest of the dceu JL figures - with the shipping date now 'unknown' although some indication that they might ship in July. Getting these on pegs months after the snydercut release will certainly do wonders for sales.
  11. Personally I have my doubts about whether this adaptation will be any good, based on how other recent gaiman adaptations have gone, but I’ll certainly give it a chance. And while in my head I tend to think if the endless as the chalk-white goth-styled comic depictions, I don’t really see any problems with some gender swapping and diversity amongst the cast members. It’s an adaptation so it is to be expected that it will deviate from the source materials in some ways, hopefully In ways that capture the spirit of the original work but that work better for the medium of episodic television
  12. So yet another jokerized character? ugh. Feels like Demon could use a bit more color to make the figure pop more, but he is a possible pickup. No interest in DKR armored Bats or unmasked Shriek. I'll have to get a closer look at the Todd WW but i feel like the chainsaw version i have preordered is probably enough in the way of WW variants... but never say never. No pic of the batcycle? or the hal jordan/ Batlantern 2-pack?
  13. Wow, i know next to nothing about the characters but Gunslinger, Raven Spawn, and Redeemer all look pretty awesome.
