McFarlane Toys Critical Role Figure First Look
DustyShelves replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
How did you find the images and info? I’m a casual fan but I’ve been excited since I heard back in September that McFarlane got the license but hadn’t seen anything and still can’t find anything other than this article! a co-worker made me aware of the show, and I really like it other than the fact that there’s so many episodes that are each 3-4 hours long. But as a huge brand that’s gained popularity through fans alone, this seems ripe for merchandising. McFarlane May have struck gold with this. While people like you who hadn’t heard of it before will be made aware and then gain new fans for the franchise, all of those millions of fans that already exist that don’t collect action figures are going to start with McFarlane. And if you don’t care either way, you’ve got some cool D&D figures at least.- 12 replies

I’m confused what your point is. Sometimes sarcasm is hard to understand without hearing it, so I assume you’re being sarcastic in the world ‘only’ and are really saying that there will be high demand for these because of the amount of backers? If not, I don’t think you realize how many people that is. The Mcfarlane spawn Kickstarter that everyone is losing their minds over has made over 1.5 million dollars with only 12,000 backers. 88,000 is HUUUUUUUUGE- 12 replies

Some updated promo images of the McFarlane MK11 Sub-Zero Figure. I’m personally excited and can’t wait to see what other characters they do!

Personally, I think that 75% of them are still better than most modern companies. They are fantastic additions to my collection and display, I feel like there’s probably not anybody else that could do them justice in the way that toybiz did, and get so many characters out there. Im not even sure if the popularity is still there. I know it’s a massive name and everyone knows it, but with all of the product we get from current franchises, would that consumer drive be there? Maybe if the Amazon Prime Series is a hit, somebody could start doing stuff from that and if successful, move into ‘classic’ characters

I don’t think they’re replacing anyone, they are the new license holder, they aren’t continuing someone else’s work or trying to improve it. It’s their own thing- 26 replies

DC — Is Anyone Else Excited for McFarlane stuff?

I find this to absolutely be the case, and it’s a foolish notion... and I’m a fan of marvel and marvel legends. Don’t get me wrong, I know the figures are great and extremely popular, but even fans and non-fans such as yourself should know that the line shouldn’t be the blueprint for every figure ever. Imagine if it were, and various companies took to making their brands in that style, there’s a good chance Legends would look mediocre in comparison. This isn’t unique to legends either. I see it all the time from NECA fans in groups on Facebook or forums. There’s constant posts of “NECA please make ______”, and half of the time, it’s a property that has Figures already out there from other companies, but no, only NECA could do them properly. It’s strange. Let companies do their own thing.- 26 replies
