  1. That might actually work in my favor; an undersized McFarlane head might look just right on a Hasbro body...
  2. I'm pretty much in the same boat. I HAVE bought some Fortnite figures for that reason.
  3. Etrigan looks VERY cool. I'm probably going to at least TRY to get him, since Etrigan is usually represented as significantly larger than most humans, so the scale issues shouldn't bother me as much. For anyone wondering when he wore the armor; it was in the 2012 series "Demon Knights".
  4. Has anyone else noticed Aang's knees look like they bend backwards? All in all, they look like Happy Meal toys.
  5. Does anyone else look at Skye and see an easy Molly Hayes custom?
  6. This makes more sense than some might think; an EVA is a mecha with an organic core made from an "Angel", and Mechagodzilla has the remains of the ORIGINAL Godzilla as it's core.
  7. Yeah, I enjoyed Grayson-as-Batman. I don't particularly care for the "Dark Knights" stuff; certainly not enough to buy figures of them, especially ones that don't fit(scale-wise) with the rest of my collection. As for why I bother posting about it here: I have a need to vent to someone who might understand my frustration. None of my IRL friends collect action figures, so they don't get it. If I must scream into the void, I prefer it be one that MIGHT answer.
  8. The same logic can be applied to the comicbook industry: a monopolistic distribution system and the perception that retailers, not consumers, are the "real" customers, will ultimately prove self-destructive.
  9. Having an opinion isn't the same as trolling. I was watching Batman Beyond from the beginning, and I am well aware it's not a dystopia. I'll admit I jumped to some conclusions; I saw a head that's Batman-in-the-front, Joker-in-the-back, a Borg-looking bodysuit, an arm cannon the size of a Vespa, some kind of mechanical appendages sticking out the back, and the OMAC/Brother Eye logo on the chest. Pardon me for immediately thinking of Futures' End, which WAS a Dystopian/Post-Apocalyptic future that involved Terry McGinnis. Yeah, I'm a little behind on some storylines; so sue me. Actually, don't; the reason I'm behind is I don't have enough disposable income to buy 20+ comicbooks a month. That doesn't change the fact that DC has published about a dozen Post-Apocalyptic/scary alternate timeline/all-is-lost events since 2012. You can only blow up the world so many times before it gets repetitive. I'm a fan of Batman, but not of the 192,937,375,278 Batman/someone else hybrid mashup characters. I'm glad that McFarlane has FINALLY embraced the concept of ACTION in an action figure line; I've picked up a few of their Fortnight figures,(I'm not really into Fortnight, but SOME of the designs are kinda cool.) but I still wish they'd fix the scale issues, not just with Legends, but within the Multiverse line itself.
  10. Are you TRYING to pick a fight with me? The point I'm trying to make is that I wouldn't be interested in most of what McFarlane has been doing with the DC license, even if they were in scale with Legends. I'm tired of all these "grim and gritty" DC character designs, whether they're from Elseworlds, Post-Apocalyptic futures, etc. Enough "Batman blended with ___________" characters, thanks.
  11. I wasn't talking about Batman Beyond, specifically, but the general direction DC's been going in. DCeased, Death Metal, Future State, etc. And that Joker/Batman/OMAC...thing just reeks of "edginess".
  12. I'm 120% DONE with most of what DC is doing right now. I'm SO very tired of Dystopian futures; how many times is DC going to trot out the same old crap? This is the fifth, or maybe sixth "dark future" storyline since Flashpoint. Yawn.
  13. Like I said before, money's tight. I have haven't been buying monthly comics for the past few years, because I've been broke. Like, I almost died of pneumonia from sleeping in a tent at a homeless shelter last year, broke. Even when I did have money for comics, I probably wouldn't have picked up a book that just had someone's first name as the title. That just wouldn't grab my attention. Add BMB's name on the cover, and I REALLY wouldn't waste money on it. The best Bendis story I've read was when Squirrel Girl babysat for Luke and Jessica; perfect use of Doreen's talents. I don't mean that as a knock against Squirrel Girl, but they got carried away with her after that. Miles, yes. RiRi STOLE her first suit. Titania threw her fight against Jane because "women gotta stick together". (Titania's villainous career is built on 2 things: her relationship with Absorbing Man, and her jealousy towards She-Hulk.) Which Guardian, though? Not the one Jack the King" Kirby created. But I can let that one go; they never really did right by Roy Harper in my opinion, and couldn't explore his relationship to Jim Harper correctly because of the multiverse thing, anyway. I did watch Black Lightning, and for the most part, I liked it. It DID get preachy at times, but I was OK with it. I REALLY didn't like what they did with Looker, and I would have preferred if Grace had been a Bana-Mighdall (Amazon) like in the comics. Again, multiverse shenanigans & DC/WB's weird internal rivalries. I'd LOVE to see a live action version of the Outsiders, but that's...unlikely. It saddens me that DC has technically had the rights to ALL of their characters at the same studio, but hasn't been able to get their act together to create a single, cohesive, shared universe. So far.
  14. Bruh. I'm not mad about this show. If they can make it a success, more power to them. BUT, if it fails, I don't want to see ANYONE make the claim that it failed because "Toxic Males", "_____ists", or "_______phobes". If it fails, it will probably be because it's not very good, or because NOBODY outside the ever-dwindling number of people who actually buy American comicbooks has ever heard of her. DC has SO many characters that they could develop shows or movies around, it seems weird that they chose a character with so little history. They'd be better off giving Martian Manhunter a spinoff. Guardian was never Jimmy Olson before, and Jimmy Olson was never black before. And I generally have a hard time considering anything Grant Morrison writes as canon, because he doesn't consider anything he DIDN'T write to be canon.(I did like his Justice League run, though.) The "right way" to introduce a new character taking up the mantle of an established one is to build up to it a little. This is something DC is used to be better at than Marvel: Legacies. Mentorships. Passing the torch. Another thing that writers don't do with new heroes is have them struggle with trying to fill someone else's boots. Even if they're literally a clone of the original hero, they should still go through a period of wondering if they measure up. Too many "new" heroes step into someone else's legacy and are immediately treated like they're better than the original. Kathleen Kennedy claimed it was hard to write Star Wars because "there isn't much source material". That was an outright lie, but it's true for Naomi. I'd never heard of her before this article. I'll see if I can find her trade paperback at the library. Money's tight, and comicbooks don't have good resale value anymore.
  15. I can be civil, but only if my First Amendment rights are respected. That means not deleting my posts for pointing out the hypocrisy in the entertainment industries claims of diversity and inclusion, when what they've actually been doing is EXCLUDING long time fans. Ask yourself this: Does the actor/actress bear even a PASSING resemblance to the character on the page? If not, then they were chosen for Twitter Brownie points, not because they were the best choice. Cyclone is a relatively new character. She's been in less than 200 issues, and hasn't been seen since before Flashpoint. It's not nostalgia that makes me want a redhead to play her, I just really like redheads. https://comicvine.gamespot.com/cyclone/4005-31964/ Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is perfect for Black Adam. But every time Hollywood replaces a redhead with... NOT a redhead, it feels like an already small number of people has gotten even smaller. I said it before, I'll say it again; the red hair gene is a benign genetic mutation that occurs in less than 1% of the world's population. To me, that's a minority that could use more representation. Last post I'll be making in this thread. I've said my peace.
  16. Barbara Gordon James Gordon James Olson James Harper Roy Harper Koriander Hank Hall Maxine Hunkell What does DC have against redheads? And before anyone says anything, I don't like it when they miscast black, Asian, or Hispanic characters, either. It doesn't happen as often, but it DOES happen. While I enjoy Vinny Jones' performance in "Arrow", his character was supposed to be African-American. And just yesterday I saw that Netflix is working on a live action reboot of Winx Club, and they cast white actresses as the Asian and Latina characters. I don't like that.
  17. "Cutting out a man's tongue doesn't prove him a liar; it proves you fear what he has to say." Red haired people have been discriminated against for centuries, and now red haired actors and actresses are missing out on roles they were born to play. #gingererasure
  18. I want superheroes everyone can identify with. But I also want characters to be who they've always been. You say there aren't enough _________ superheroes? OK. Make new ones. But make NEW superheroes, not replacement superheroes. There's a right way to do these things. John Stewart? Right way. CW's version of the Guardian? Not so much. James Rhodes/War Machine? Right way. Riri Williams/Iron Heart? Started bad, got better.
  19. As a man of multiple ethnic backgrounds and a TRUE superhero comics fan, I resent the Twitter/Facebook/mainstream media stereotypes of comics fans as "incels", "basement dwellers", etc. A person can dislike a show, movie, comicbook, or game that has a female/LGBTQ+/PoC main character/writer/director without being any kind of "-ist" or "-phobe". These are just excuses that untalented douches with the "right" political opinions use to justify substandard work. I dream of a day when a superhero will again be judged not by the color of their skin, but by their quality as a character.
  20. The question is: how many seasons can they squeeze out of a character with less than a year of comics history? Netflix burned through Jessica Jones' ONE established story arc in Season 1, and she's been around almost 2 decades. Also, does Naomi even have a codename?
  21. I want to start a petition to get McFarlane(and the whole industry, really) to agree to a standardized 6" scale. I want to be able to display my figures in massive crossovers, without having weird size issues. Harley Quinn should NOT be taller than Thor!
