I'm 120% DONE with most of what DC is doing right now. I'm SO very tired of Dystopian futures; how many times is DC going to trot out the same old crap? This is the fifth, or maybe sixth "dark future" storyline since Flashpoint. Yawn.

Like I said before, money's tight. I have haven't been buying monthly comics for the past few years, because I've been broke. Like, I almost died of pneumonia from sleeping in a tent at a homeless shelter last year, broke. Even when I did have money for comics, I probably wouldn't have picked up a book that just had someone's first name as the title. That just wouldn't grab my attention. Add BMB's name on the cover, and I REALLY wouldn't waste money on it. The best Bendis story I've read was when Squirrel Girl babysat for Luke and Jessica; perfect use of Doreen's talents. I don't mean that as

Bruh. I'm not mad about this show. If they can make it a success, more power to them. BUT, if it fails, I don't want to see ANYONE make the claim that it failed because "Toxic Males", "_____ists", or "_______phobes". If it fails, it will probably be because it's not very good, or because NOBODY outside the ever-dwindling number of people who actually buy American comicbooks has ever heard of her. DC has SO many characters that they could develop shows or movies around, it seems weird that they chose a character with so little history. They'd be better off giving Martian Manhunter a spinoff.

Quintessa Swindell To Play 'Cyclone' In DC's ''Black Adam'
Mangle77 replied to Outsiders's topic in Entertainment News
I can be civil, but only if my First Amendment rights are respected. That means not deleting my posts for pointing out the hypocrisy in the entertainment industries claims of diversity and inclusion, when what they've actually been doing is EXCLUDING long time fans. Ask yourself this: Does the actor/actress bear even a PASSING resemblance to the character on the page? If not, then they were chosen for Twitter Brownie points, not because they were the best choice. Cyclone is a relatively new character. She's been in less than 200 issues, and hasn't been seen since before Flashpoint. -

Barbara Gordon James Gordon James Olson James Harper Roy Harper Koriander Hank Hall Maxine Hunkell What does DC have against redheads? And before anyone says anything, I don't like it when they miscast black, Asian, or Hispanic characters, either. It doesn't happen as often, but it DOES happen. While I enjoy Vinny Jones' performance in "Arrow", his character was supposed to be African-American. And just yesterday I saw that Netflix is working on a live action reboot of Winx Club, and they cast white actresses as the Asian and Latina charact -

"Cutting out a man's tongue doesn't prove him a liar; it proves you fear what he has to say." Red haired people have been discriminated against for centuries, and now red haired actors and actresses are missing out on roles they were born to play. #gingererasure -
I want superheroes everyone can identify with. But I also want characters to be who they've always been. You say there aren't enough _________ superheroes? OK. Make new ones. But make NEW superheroes, not replacement superheroes. There's a right way to do these things. John Stewart? Right way. CW's version of the Guardian? Not so much. James Rhodes/War Machine? Right way. Riri Williams/Iron Heart? Started bad, got better.

As a man of multiple ethnic backgrounds and a TRUE superhero comics fan, I resent the Twitter/Facebook/mainstream media stereotypes of comics fans as "incels", "basement dwellers", etc. A person can dislike a show, movie, comicbook, or game that has a female/LGBTQ+/PoC main character/writer/director without being any kind of "-ist" or "-phobe". These are just excuses that untalented douches with the "right" political opinions use to justify substandard work. I dream of a day when a superhero will again be judged not by the color of their skin, but by their quality as a character.

The question is: how many seasons can they squeeze out of a character with less than a year of comics history? Netflix burned through Jessica Jones' ONE established story arc in Season 1, and she's been around almost 2 decades. Also, does Naomi even have a codename?

I want to start a petition to get McFarlane(and the whole industry, really) to agree to a standardized 6" scale. I want to be able to display my figures in massive crossovers, without having weird size issues. Harley Quinn should NOT be taller than Thor!

The first thing to pop into my head when I read that headline was "I don't want to meet the king of yellow ice". -
Mattel Named Global Toy Partner for TOP GUN Franchise Mattel
Mangle77 replied to JayC's topic in Action Figure News
Mattel Inc. is feeling the need, the need for intellectual property. Maybe we'll get a 1:12 scale Tom Cruise out of this; that would be great for a custom I've been wanting to do... -
Fair enough. I've seen SO much "body positivity" crap lately, it's made me a bit jumpy. I see what you mean about Cheetah looking almost like they assembled parts from 2 different figures, but I found her at a local Gamestop, and she's a LOT better in person.

All this talk about unrealistic body proportions! News flash: superhero comics are a subgenre of FANTASY, they aren't meant to be realistic! It's all about idealized forms; if you had the option of looking like a Greek god/goddess, wouldn't you choose that over being "normal"? Especially since American "normal" has diabetes. And don't start that crap about trying to protect girls from having low self-esteem; male superhero body types are even more extreme.
