  1. NECA is doing the cartoon characters. Cartoon Rocksteady doesn't usually have a helmet. Super 7 is doing the Playmates action figures. THAT'S where Rocksteady has a helmet.
  2. I look forward to NECA expanding their scenery line. I hope they do a bunch more NYC stuff to go with this. Pay phones, trash cans, subway entries, maybe a whole subway level that attaches underneath, fire escapes, newspaper vending machines, mail boxes, street lights, crosswalks, road signs, fences, etc etc etc.... With as modular as this set is, we could EASILY build up huge, incredible displays for our figures to stand on.
  3. That's not a toy line though.... A lot of the time they're one-offs, and otherwise they're a load of separate toy lines of varying qualities...
  4. The NECA TMNT are some of the best figures to come out in ANY year EVER. I have a genuinely hard time believing they finally exist as good...or even BETTER than we always dreamed, after 28+ years. I have HUNDREDS (maybe 1000+? Gods, I'm afraid to count...) of Marvel Legends. Thing and Wolverine are both genuinely great, and among the best Marvel Legends, but even so, they're still not even the best of 2018. The Sauron BAF tops 2018's Marvel Legends. I've got all these guys standing on the same shelf. There's not a single Marvel Legends figure from ToyBiz or Hasbro that competes with the Turtles, aside from maybe the ToyBiz Sentinel BAF. It's gonna be a real bummer if the NECA TMNT lose out because they haven't hit general release yet....
  5. I'd have to give it to Hasbro in a landslide. They put out 141+ Marvel Legends last year. That's NUTS. Tons of great, cool, weird, and long-awaited stuff. The Marvel Legends line upped its game AGAIN, and went both wide and deep on the range. And it's hard to beat that availability and price point. Black Series did solid. Transformers War For Cybertron SIEGE stuff started hitting at the end of 2018, and it's some of the best stuff in the entire history of Transformers..... I'm bummed that Mattel lost the DC license, because Mattel was FINALLY starting to catch up to Marvel Legends quality, and I was really looking forward to seeing what Hasbro would do with Marvel Legends if it actually had REAL competition.
  6. 141 (or more) Marvel Legends figures were released in 2018
  7. Man, ML Thing is genuinely GREAT, but it's not even within 100 miles of being as phenomenal as those TMNT figures.... A lot of years Thing could easily be the best 6-7" figure, but for 2018 he's just not even close. Not with the Sauron BAF being the best figure in his own line, and those NECA TMNT figures being FREAKISHLY great. Those TMNT are like Hot Toys-level likenesses captured in figures half the scale. It's messed up that they're not winning.
  8. Honestly, Dan Larson over at Toy Galaxy is the best presenter of ANYTHING I can think of. Not just toy shows. Like news, science documentaries, whatever...Dan's just a better presenter than anyone else presenting anything else. Better energy, better cadence, better inflection, better timing, better humor, more engaging, better structure, better conveyance, etc etc. The guy is truly gifted. And Toy Galaxy is relatively new. As far as I can tell, it's not like he's had years and years of practice at this.
  9. That stupid Marvel Universe Sentinel being reissued as a Marvel Legends figure is just lazy and taking us all for fools. It also means now it's going to be bloody AGES before we ever get an ACTUAL Hasbro Legends Sentinel. Man, that makes me mad.
  10. I mean, I know they were hard to get a hold of, and maybe a lot of people are too young to remember the 1990 TMNT movie, but those NECA movie Turtles are no contest the best figures of 2018. Their likenesses, details, and accessories are INCREDIBLE. These things are what people have been waiting for for literally 28 years. Tiger-striped Wolverine is great, and easily the best Marvel Legends (and perhaps 1:12 scale) Wolverine, but he's not anywhere REMOTELY close to the Turtles. Like...they didn't give him an unmasked head, they didn't bother to paint his arm hairs, they didn't chrome his claws, his mask still isn't quite right.... Wolverine is just the latest in a long series of trial and error iterations of essentially this same figure. There will almost definitely be another one in 2019, and it'll probably include an unmasked head, or a better mask, or they'll paint on the arm hair... Whatever. Marvel Legends Wolverines still have plenty of room for improvement. The NECA Turtles are INSANELY great. It's hard to imagine any realistic way for them to be better.
