I haven't posted in eons here. But I remember those good old days. Simpler times it seemed.

I frequent Ross stores often (especially since it's near my gym) and yet I had never came across a Defense Of Cobra Island pack. I came across plenty of the Joe ones. Luckily, I had a friend stumble across one at another store and since he wasn't a Cobra fan, sent it my way. I would really like to get more Alley Vipers and Range Vipers. They are super cool.

The same packs that were shown here: http://generalsjoes.com/reviews/2009/exclusives/tru_cobra_troop_builders.html http://generalsjoes.com/reviews/2009/exclusives/tru_gijoe_troop_builders.html I ran into many of these packs on Saturday evening.

These dios are pretty cool. Reminds me of the simplicity of toys. No major villains. Just simple tales to tell. =D

I believe he's of 25th molds (uses the white coat from Rise Of Cobra Rex Variant). But not sure what other parts are used. He's a nice figure to seek, but a little too rich in price for me at this time.

I found the last Steel Crusher they had at my store. Didn't like how my side mirrors sort of bent a little in getting the thing out of the package (didn't just rip it open). I think I would have really dug it more if it didn't have that play gimmick. I want a great trooper carrier dammit. =D

First Dennis Hopper, now FRO JOE, Bah!!!

His hair was so full of volume. WHY OH WHY? =)

Someone put up a review of the van. Pretty nifty, the only disappointment is the loss of space in the back of the van. still though, a 4 seater isn't bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc3zQVsVgnw

Fantastic. A lot of thought and effort there. It plainly shows. So far, I think the BAT spot, boxing area and shooting range are my favorites.

Cool pics, were there many folks dressed up as characters? Or was this the gist of it? I got to thinking on your "had their way with me" comment, as they say in these internets, "Pics or it didn't happen!" =P One of these decades I'll attempt to make it out to a con. But for some reason, I just never made it a total priority. Which is sort of odd considering if there was a con I'd go to, it'd sure be something like this. =D

Well, I usually tell folks to stick with what they like. Regardless of what everyone else thinks. Hell, I remembered back in the later runs of the Joe figures, where folks were like "Why are you wasting your money on those things?" and I just shrugged them off. Because at the end of the day, it was something I enjoyed. I've liked most incarnations of Joe stuff (aside from the horrendous early Joe vs. Cobra t crotch figures, as well as certain spy troops molds). I was mixed on the ROC stuff, but overall I enjoyed some of the figures. As far as the canning of Hasbro, I just take it as a toy company's nature to change the line. As you look at the different subsets and such they've had over the years, it's pretty much the norm. Never played the ROC game, but from what I've seen in game play footage (and mostly ignore the reviews), I wouldn't mind giving it a shot as it looks like a brainless shooter (which I'm a big fan of with games like Total Karnage and Smash TV). I guess the bottom line is, just take the opinions of others with a grain of salt.

I love the Shock Trooper. Totally works for me and can see myself amassing at least a squad of these. Low Light and the Snake Eyes seem to work for me too. Most of the figures seemed fine. Don't care for the mechs though, as they just don't have that cool factor like the Defense Mech from VVV.

Ow, my eyes are hurting trying to read that codename. =)

Looks like a couple of female characters too. Foxtrot (looks to be a female sniper) seems pretty cool. Kind of reminds me of Jinx. =)
-
Especially when the box itself says: "Container has 3 modes, Troop Transport, Vehicle Transport and Command Center". =)
-
Looks interesting, but the vehicles/playsets shown look even more so. Depending on the way the helicopter looks, I smell a Marvel Cobra transport chopper custom in the works. =D

Reading has been doing some slight trolling around here lately, just talking trash to others. They must be really bored. Like most trolls, ignore them enough, and they tend to go away. Doesn't justify the attacks at all, but I see this too often on these here internets. =\

Sort of. I'm not really bummed nor too excited for the hiatus. Although, like you it does give me time to catch up on things, the big thing for me is knowing that it's not completely done.

Sort of looking to fill my gap of Comic pack 7 and 8 from the Valor vs. Venom era. Still missing Horror Show and Stormavik, as well as the complete comic pack 8. Also, am looking for the Steel Brigade vs. Plague Troopers DTC 6 figure pack. Not looking to spend a ton (as I don't need these badly), but figured I'd post on here to see what could possibly be available. Thanks in advance.

Maybe, but to what level of "difference" (to justify the price and major change over from DVD) is more my position, and I say...not much! I humoured the idea of switching from DVD to Blu-Ray for about 3 seconds, and then decided that I'm NOT switching every one of the 500 or so DVD's I have bought over the past several years. I'll buy a dual-compatible Blu-Ray player and buy Blu-rays for it, but my existing DVDs are staying put. Blu-Ray is nice, but its not nice enough to justify tossing out that many DVDs. I actually know someone that's hell bent on replacing all his DVDs. Especially in these times (and this isn't a loaded person, mind you), it just seems nonsensical.

There's no way I would replace a complete DVD collection with Blu-Ray. Maybe a few movies here and there, but not every DVD I own.

I've seen the auctions for these just get up there in price. Seems with the whole (only finding them at like Marshall's stores) seems to have spiked the demand for them.

Now it looks like they're going to cave in on the widescreen thing. =D http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/GI-Joe-The-Movie/13683 G.I. Joe - Shout! Changes Aspect Ratio Plans for the DVD Version of The Movie, Announces Contest Blu-ray + DVD combo pack release remains unchanged, but DVD now also gets both aspect ratios Posted by David Lambert Yesterday we brought you Shout! Factory's official press release for G.I. Joe - The Movie: Special Collector's Edition on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. In it, the studio explains that the widescreen version of the production would exclusively be found in the Blu-ray package, where the BD would have the widescreen format and the included DVD would have it in the full screen aspect ratio. However, the DVD-only release would only have the full screen version. One reason for the latter was because the studio had an obstacle to overcome: several major retailers had indicated they would only stock the DVD version of the title if it was produced on a single disc.! The higher-end BD version was not given the same restriction; a Blu+DVD combo pack with 2 discs had been acceptable to retailers who wanted to stock the BDs. So this had been Shout!'s compromise on the aspect ratio, because there were a significant amount of fans who wanted the "originally-intended" widescreen version, and also a significant amount of fans who said they would prefer the "original direct-to-video presentation" of full screen. However, following the distribution of that document, there was a fan outcry at the idea that the standard DVD version wouldn't have the option to view the production in widescreen...a reminder that not all widescreen fans have upgraded to the Blu-ray format yet. Shout! Factory (and in particular their producer for this title, Brian Ward) listened to the fan feedback on this matter, and came to a decision yesterday: due to these strenuous fan objections about the DVD being full-screen-only, Shout! has elected to scale back the bit rate somewhat on the full-screen version of the movie, in order to make room to include the widescreen version on the same disc. Now the DVD-only release will continue to be a single disc (to meet retailer requirements), but have both versions of the movie AND all the extras mentioned in the press release. And we expect that to be the same DVD that will be included in the Blu-ray + DVD combo pack, too. But Shout! Factory isn't done pleasing G.I. Joe fans yet. They've also announced that they are running a special "G.I. Joe: The Movie Trailer Contest", running from 5/26 - 8/16/10, in which they are "inviting all G.I. Joe fans to try their hand in making a trailer for this Blu-ray + DVD release"! Full details - including contest rules, submission methods and "prizes" (mainly bragging rights that your trailer won and will be used to promote the title) - can all be found at the just-provided-above link. As far as Shout! is concerned, the submission is a low-res "beta" version that can use any assets at hand (the previous DVD or VHS releases, YouTube videos, etc.) in order to show proof-of-concept; the winner of the contest will be provided with the high-res video necessary in order to create the final trailer. Sounds like fun! All you aspiring filmmakers out there will get to strut your stuff, so get 'crackin'!
