  1. I put in a bid at $85 for the darn things, but somebody outbid me. Figures.
  2. I happen to like my Devastator a lot. I think the figure looks great, and mine doesn't have any trouble standing whatsover, and also has no problems with falling apart except for the right hand/forearm I just replaced, and therefore is no longer a problem. I spent $75 dollars a few years back for a 95% complete Devastator. Its missing only two of the pistols for the small robots(Scavenger and Scrapper), and a single silver missile for Mixmaster that has no real use(you always use the double missile he comes with, which I have). The entire set was in good condition and I've been perfectly happy with it, aside from the fact that the right arm assembly just wouldn't hold the hand. I just replaced that, and its no longer a problem. I strongly disagree with you calling combined Devastator a hunk of junk.
  3. Nah theres one on ebay now, was thinking it might be a good investment, but its a BIN of £65 (so over $100 to you). Open box isn't much of the investment type. I think the prices going around are a little inflated for these. Price is based on supply + demand, and while these are hard to find, I just don't see the demand for them. E-Hobby figure like Megaplex(grey/blue Megatron), Sunstorm, Black Rodimus, and of course Anime Astrotrain seem a whole lot more desirable. I think some sellers are overestimating what people would be willing to pay for these.
  4. Starting bid is 45 english pounds. Ends up about $80. Tack on international shipping to the U.S., and I have to think hard about it. I'd have to at least consider it since I have the entire E-Hobby exclusive set aside from these, and this is on my must buy list. The set is open, but I'm an open the box sort of collector, so I could care less there. I'd prefer to go as high as $85 for these, but I'm not sure that's an option. Wish I would have bought these for $50 when I had the chance, but I put these on the backburner since I didn't find them as interesting as the other E-Hobby figures.
  5. I don't have a Galvatron to test it, but would Galvatron fit in the box reissue Optimus Prime came in? Even if it doesn't, if it was close they could go a little bigger but have the same sort of box. Seems the logical thing.
  6. I don't like beast Transformers personally, and I especially don't like beast Transformers where the arms and legs of the robot are the arms and legs of the beast. That being said, having all of the first wave short of Red Alert and Override so far, Scourge is my favorite Cybertron figure. Sometimes a figure is just cool enough to transcend the suck.
  7. I know. It really pisses me off in shows like this, it's just like pokemon. If the bad guys are bumbling idiots then there is no threat thus no plot. It just goes on and on battle after battle with nothing happening. Decepticons should be strong and feared. They need their dignity back. That is if they ever had any. Kids cartoons have a long and storied history of the bad guys being idiots. Its almost universal. I've always believed that part of the legend of the original G1 cartoon was the fact that Megatron was actually a competent bad guy. It was unheard of back in those days, and I can't think of another villain on a kids show back then who wasn't a moron. Megatron was the baddest of the bad because he actually had a brain and Optimus Prime was that much more amazing because week in and week out he was beating a non-idiot.
  8. Its not a question of thinking this. Thundercracker says Get-R-Done. There really isn't a question.
  9. I just picked up Clampdown and Deep Cover at Cybercon. I now only need the Go-Bot recolors of the Mini-Bot set. Not something I'm looking forward to. That thing is impossible to find these days. Being as hard to find as it is has got people thinking its worth more than it is. A dealer on ebay has had one for $164.99 buy it now for about two months now. The annoying thing is that during that time frame, that has been the only one of the set I've seen. Price is based on supply and demand. As far as supply goes, this figure is impossible to find, but I just don't think there is $165 worth of demand for this set. I plan on being patient for the time being. I think the $165 price is ridiculous, and If this wasn't the only piece I needed to collect an entire set, I wouldn't even be talking about it. Sooner or later there will be another one on Ebay. Pretty please? PS---For the record, I don't put off buying anything anymore. It's just not worth it in the long run.
  10. 1. The guns for G1 Sludge and G1 Mirage-- I already have Mirage's missile launcher + missiles and Sludge's sword. Mirage is now complete, and Sludge is as complete as I care to make him. 2. Devastators right arm-- I already have this, but on the one I have there is a stress mark on the connector for the hand, and the spring is a bit worn down on the launcher. Between them, the launcher barely holds the hand, especially when its holding Devastor's gun. So I bought a new hand that works better. 3. Galaxy Force Vector Prime-- I can't say enough how much I prefer this to the Cybertron version. It looks more regal in grey, as well as looking older. The grey also, as had been stated before, makes the sculped detail pop out more than the white. It comes with a colored in Cyber Key. The outsides of the wings are now painted. Finally, the sword and wings are made out of a stiff plastic. Yay! 4. E-Hobby Clampdown and Deep Cover-- I like these guys more than I expected. They don't really deserve to be the E-Hobby figures I waited nearly until the end to get. I only need one more E-Hobby Exclusive now: The motherf&^%ing Mini-Bot set. 5. G1 Jetfire--just couldn't resist. I'm generally a reissue guy, but I don't expect one here. $90 for one of the greatest G1 figures of all time was impossible to pass up.
  11. I agree here. Once I saw the differences, I never even considered picking up the Hasbro version. As a 28 year old collector from the old days, I remember that if anything ever broke on G1 Optimus Prime, it was the stacks. Hasbro 20th Anniversary Prime=G1 Optimus with broken stacks. Ick. Of course being perfectly willing to spend $100 on the Takara one had more than a little to do with the decision as well.
  12. I was stunned by the Transformers Cyberton cartoon last night. After watching Starscream destroy the Autobots in a simulation, Thundercracker makes the comment: "Starscream really know how to Get-R-Done." A moment later, Thundercracker says: "Starscream doesn't think his poo stinks, but stink it do." Thundercracker is Larry the Cable Guy. I'm not sure what can be said about that.
  13. I own the entire E-Hobby set save for one of them. I purchased most of them after they had stopped being new, sometimes months and years later. I've gotten some ridiculous deals in the process as well. Here's my opinion: Some of the dealers with a lesser grip on reality have been asking as much as $350.00 for the Astrotrain. A guy at Cybercon had one for that. Anime Astrotrain is probably second to Sunstorm in terms of demand right now, and Sunstorm usually goes in the $125-$150 range. $87 isn't a terrible price at this point, I've seen them go for more. If you're patient, and willing to watch Ebay for a couple of months, I could almost guarantee you could beat that price. But if you're not that ambitious and must have the figure and don't want to risk it, $87 isn't terrible.
  14. At least one came to the US... The one I have displayed next to MP Convoy...
  15. Grimlock Ravage Silverstreak I still don't understand why people like Meister/Jazz so much.
  16. Nobody so far... Here's a hint: Why four?
  17. This is what I want, as well as what I assume is the likely course: Reissue Galvatron, in the bookbox Takara reissues. Optimus Prime sized box, with a new binder(Decepticon) included. The binder that came with Optimus Prime is on overflow, and we freaking need a new one. Figure is identical to the original, with maybe a few cute gimmics, like the Matrix on a chain you can hang on his neck. a month or so later... E-Hobby exclusive Galvatron in Anime colors. I look forward to purchasing both.
  18. I own four Binaltech figures. Name them. All you need to know is in that statement. Just think of what the most logical answer is.
  19. I own all that is currently out right now, since I don't think Red Alert and Override are out yet. I posted some opinions before, but since then, certain things have changed, some figures have grown on me. My favorite figure is Scourge. Robot mode is just perfect. I'm not real picky about posability, so the few flaws the figure has don't bother me. Dragons are always a good choice, multiple heads look great in both modes. I love the axe. And robot mode just looks as close to perfect as can be. The figure even has one of my Transformers pet-peeves, that being an beast transformer whose legs become the robots arms and legs just by standing up. I hate when they do that and I just don't care here. My other favorites: Optimus Prime--Best non-G1 Optimus ever. If the arms got a little longer in Super Mode, it'd be perfect, but this comes close. Scattorshot--As a G1 guy, non-articulated legs don't bother me. Loaded with guns is always a good thing. Probably my favorite basic of all time at this point(some later figures may change this--Rumble??). Looks great in both robot and truck modes. Recon Minicon Set--Jolt(Helicopter) and the truck one, which I belive is Reverb are the two best minicons ever released. Period. The car is pretty good too. Like a lot Megatron--its growing on me. I didn't like a few things at first, but less bothers me as time goes on and I like it more and more. Hot Shot--Has some imperfections, but still looks great and despite its flaws its the best regular car transformer since G1 Hot-Shot. I miss the old days when Transformers was based on a line of cars. Now we only get a handfull a year. Ransack--I think bike mode is dull, and the gun is stupid, but Ransack is still one of the best basics ever made, and the best motorcycle transformer ever for the time being. Vector Prime--Robot mode is tremendous, and vehicle mode isn't far behind. But the damn rubber... Overhaul--Figure has grown on me. After getting used to pieces falling off of it, and discovering that it has one or two "poses" it can actually accomplish, the little guy has snuck into my favorites, after I initially considered it in the bottom 3. Good figures Landmine--Is nearly without flaws(what is the gun supposed to be in vehicle mode?). Great figure all around, but a tad on the boring side. Thats the only issue I have with it. I understand you guys who really like it though. Jetfire--Jet mode is classic. Not terribly fond of the robot mode, but still a good figure. Crumplezone--Another figure that has grown on me. I expected to dislike this a whole lot, and now I find myself actually considering it a good figure. It'd be one of my favorites if it had some sort of clubbing thing to smash things with. It really looks like it deserves one. Anything to hold in its hands would be an improvement. King Starscream--I find the thing a bit silly. Otherwise I love this Starscream and expect the more reasonably sized version to be in my top three favorites. Hardtop--A good little basic. Nothing really stands out as great. Nice to see worthwhile guns on Transformers for a change. Clocker--I really like the transformation. A few clunky bits, and the pipes just don't seem to belong, but overall a good figure. **Up to this point, I consider all of these figures to be better or equal to all but the best figures BW, RiD, Armada and Energon had to offer. The quality of this line across the board is great so far. Best line of TFs since G1. In fact, there are only two so far I really don't care for Figures I don't really like Thundercracker--Does anyone like this figure. Jet mode is cool, and I like that it is a Russian jet for a change, but the robot is more than a little lame. Dirt Boss--First off, falls guilty to my #1 Transformers beef. Not having a gun/weapon. King Starscream has a swing out sword and Shockblast gun(I still prefer how the Voyager sized version has its hand held missile launcher), Overhaul has wolverine claws(which are cool), Crumplezone has really big missle launchers(but still could use a gun). I'm OK with all of those. The two exhaust pipe thingies just don't cut it as a gun. Otherwise the figure is very Armada-ish mediocre. The proportions are a little silly, the head flops around, the truck is a little on the fisher-price side and really lacks detail, and again the lack of a weapon really annoys me. Despite all this, I really don't consider it that bad of a figure. The gimmick with the wheels never gets old and is fun to play with. Not a bad Transformer(like Thundercracker) just simply ok.
  20. Alternators thus far have been 1/24th scale cars, the same scale as model cars. I would expect all future Alternators to follow this line, much as I would like to see Seeker Jets. Thus far, Alternators have been sports cars, so I could forsee $30 Alternators to be bigger, but not by that much. Not big enough to be a Semi-Truck or Jets anyway. More along the lines of big SUVs and pickups. Some Speculation: Chrysler 300C/Dodge Charger--This is the only car I could really see as a $30 Alternator. Other than this, you really have to look at European cars for something big and cool, and they've been real sketchy about handing over the licenses. I could really see Megatron as a Silver 300C SRT8 or a Charger SRT8. Other Cars--Maybe Lexus GS, Infinity M Dodge Ram SRT10--The one with the Viper engine. Cadillac Escalade--A real no-brainer. Another good one for Megs. Hummer H2--ditto Chevy Avalanche--Not terribly fond of it, but its odd enought to make a decent Transformer. Honda Ridgline--Again ugly in a weird way like the Avalanche, but again, I don't think thats necessarily a bad thing here. Subaru B9 Tribeca--Weird and brand new, could use some press. Infinity FX--love these things.
  21. I have found some info that might shed some light on the scale of this figure: 1. Its listed as Supreme as far as the Japanese preorders go. 2. I've read it comes with a minicon. If you look closely at the painted vehicle mode, you'll see something attached to the claw. I'd guess that thing is the minicon. If you look at the robot mode standing tall with the big weapon, think of the minicon attached to the claw end and imagine how big that is. 3. Master Galvatron--5460 yen, Megalo Convoy--6090 yen. If this thing is a supreme, its going to tower over the other ones, Omega Supreme, Unicron and King Starscream.
  22. Was at a local Wal-Mart(Nazareth, Pa) to pick up some Axe shower gel. Checked the toy isle, and they had Cybertron Scourge and Jetfire. Just to see if it was a fluke, I went to the Easton Wal-Mart and they had piles of Deluxes. I already have the whole line from TRU, but I've never heard of these being at Wal-Mart before.
  23. Well, lets discuss: Just seems to me that they were lazy with this one, and could have made it better. I'm a G1 guy, and I'm very forgiving with poseability. Its rare that it bothers me and Overhaul is one of the rare cases that it does bother me. Almost. As I said, I find bike mode boring. Still the best motorcycle TF ever, for a little while anyway until Roadstorm comes along. I gave the figure an 8.5 out of 10. Is that low? The worst difference is the softer bendy plastic. My sword has started to lean to the left, and the solar panels have never been straight, and resist all my attempts to make them straight. People who have the GF version have stated that it uses stiffer plastic that doesn't have the bendy problem. The solar panels/wings look a lot better with the paint apps on the GF version. Grey vs. white is a matter of opinion, and not as big a deal as the lack of paint on the wings and the rubber. I still gave the thing an 8.5 with the gripes. Tricks--no more so than most Cybertron figures, and most of them look a whole lot better. Just has too much of a kiddie/fisher price look. Aside from playing with the wheels, I don't really like Dirt Boss much. Actually I can. They don't really look too much like guns. Again, as a G1 guy who doesn't care much about poseability, I let that one slide and the overall excellence of the figure otherwise shines through. I rate strictly. Anything over a 5 is a figure I like. I like Crumplezone, just not as much as other figures. Also, any figure without a hand held weapon always loses points in my book, which influenced the 6 rating. The bruiser look works, but I prefer proportion and I've seen things look like bruisers without the gorilla look, aka Alt Grimlock. The figure is better than OK, but that's as far as I'll go.
