  1. Do you keep Robin toy figurine also. Bruce Lee once acted in this role. http://cros-toys.com/about Bruce Lee actually portrayed Robin at one time? I remember him in the role of Kato on the Green Hornet. Yea Bruce only played Kato. Allegedly there had been a problem between Burt Ward and Bruce, because allegedly Burt had made a claim that he was a black belt in Karate, and Bruce wanted to spar with him to see if it was true. Also originally Bruce was supposed to lose the fight of Robin vs Kato. But Bruce pressured the writers to rewrite it for it to become a draw instead.
  2. I have to say today's episode was great. I love how they had Aqualad go "Donnie Brasco", within Black Manta's organization. I'm also happy that Richard got to bang Zatanna, from what was implied. I'm sure that this secrecy among Wally, Rich, Artemis, and Kaldur will probably spark some serious beef with the rest of the team once it gets out. Those are most likely the routes for upcoming episodes.
  3. Its probably that, or because the writers probably decided to write him that way in the episode. From my understanding in the comics, Wally is actually the fastest of all the speedsters. I was actually surprised myself in how they portrayed him in this episode, as falling behind the other speedsters. But the writers did kind of make up for it, when he was fast enough to move Barry and Impulse out of the way at the last minute before the explosion. I'm guessing this is suppose to take place before the whole Speed Force thing. It was stated that before that happened,Wally could only go at sub-light speed. Yea man, that's probably it.
  4. I was wondering what happened to that project, I was really looking forward to it. I thought it was just in limbo, but now I know better. I kinda liked the more kid-oriented Teen Titans toon, but I would prefer a more serious, comic-based adaptation of my favorite DC team of heroes. If its done in the style of Young Justice, JLU or Batman: the Animated Series, I know I would enjoy it. I agree.
  5. OK, but with all due respect lets just get this out of the way now. If I type a word, and the "language filter" doesn't censor it (an example being the word "ass"), is it fair game then? I got to tell you, for a website which features mostly grown men discussing action figures, comic books, movies, etc. this place sure takes itself way too seriously....
  6. I was hoping that they made a Teen Titans show or movie, based on the animation of Young Justice. The animation on TTG is too cartoony, compared to what DC is capable of doing. I'm still disappointed that they canceled the DC original Teen Titans movie, based on the Judas Contract story of the 1980's.
  7. Exactly. More heroes should shed villain blood for the cause, much more often.
  8. Looks like the Terminator, and possibly Lex Luthor will be making appearances on this show. I just don't like that they aren't calling him "Green Arrow", and he refers to himself as only "Arrow" (looks like Gumby, the Hulk, and Green Giant protested after all). But at least he is still named Oliver Queen though. I also enjoy that on this show he seems like he's not going to go by the "no killing" rule that many DC heroes tend to favor, after snapping that guy's neck.
  9. Sounds like great news, but Ill believe it when I see the trailer for the movie. I really hope that they get a good-looking actress this time around, to play her... Specifically a woman without a manly Dudley Do-Right jawline would be nice.... In my opinion Lynda Carter was the last and only good-looking woman to play Diana. I like lists, so let's see. For Marvel, starting in 1998 with Blade 1. Blade 2. X-Men 3. Blade II 4. Spider-Man 5. Daredevil 6. X2 7. Hulk 8. The Punisher 9. Spider-Man 2 10. Blade: Trinity 11. Elektra 12. Man-Thing 13. Fantastic Four 14. X-Men: Last Stand 15. Ghost Rider 16. Spider-Man 3 17. Fantasic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 18. Iron Man 19. The Incredible Hulk 20. Punisher: War Zone 21. Wolverine 22. Iron Man 2 23. Thor 24. X-Men: First Class 25. Captain America: The First Avenger 26. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 27. The Avengers 28. Amazing Spider-Man DC's list. Let's start in 1997 around the same timeframe: 1. Batman & Robin 2. Steel 3. Catwoman 4. Batman Begins 5. Superman Returns 6. The Dark Knight 7. Watchmen 8. Jonah Hex 9. Green Lantern 10. The Dark Knight Rises Gotta give it to Marvel. You're right Marvel has had better marketing within the last 15 years more so than DC. But in all fairness, you decided to start you're list from 1997 which is when Marvel started to get serious with their movies, and DC started to decline. But if we go in general, Marvel has had a lot more movies especially since 1997. In my opinion what ruined DC in the movie world, is the hard-on that they have had for the Batman franchise since 1989. The 90's for DC were pretty much obsessed with the Batman, and never did movies on to other DC franchises. Unfortunately DC has still been stuck with the Batman crush, thanks to guys like Bruce Timm. Here is a list of a few DC franchises that DC could have made ton of money in if done right, thats if they don't go the way of the "Nick Cage Superman mechanical Spider" idea from the mid 90's (what the hell was that about??): The Flash (Barry Allen version) Plastic Man (I always wanted Jim Carrey to play Plastic Man, as I cant see anyone else...but he may be too old now) Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) the New gods (this one may even win an Oscar, just based on costumes) Aquaman (they should make this movie dark...just think about a man that lives in the ocean...there's all kinds of weird sht down there...that humans still haven't discovered) the Justice League (they should only do this only after they have done individual movies, with their core members, similar to what Marvel did with Avengers) Green Arrow Captain Marvel (of course it would have to be titled "Shazam" thanks to a copyright involving the competition company) (The Rock has to play Black Adam for this one, I cant see anyone else...unless Arnold Vosloo wants it) The Question Martian Manhunter Wonder Woman (if done right, and kept true to the source) DC Comics did dominate the 1980's though, in terms of movies, cartoons, toys, and a mess of merchandise. They were better at marketing back then, and I have no idea what the hell happened (I still believe its the Batman thing, and shtty decision over at WB. Of course the Superman movies were their main thing, but they also had Supergirl, Swamp Thing 1&2 and the TV show. They also had TV shows like The Flash, Superboy, Smallville, Birds of Prey (even though that was a piece of sht in my opinion), and now Arrow. Also you forgot to include Constantine and The Spirit under the DC movies made since 1997 haha.
  10. I don't recall hearing the notclone speak at all they found him, released him & then he fell down & that was that wasn't it ?.. He didn't speak, he just moaned and groaned a bit. Thats what I based the voice tone thing on, which made his voice sound softer in my opinion. But eventually we will see if its the same voice or not. They most likely will have the same actor doing the voices for both of them, just like they do with Superman and Superboy.
  11. Official E3 Resident Evil 6 Trailer posted in BH/RE Thread

  12. Resident Evil 6 - E3 Official Trailer (US) It's been now revealed that the "b*tch" that Chris was screaming about, is actually Ada Wong.
  13. I hate that they keep changing their voices. I actually read that some people think that its Jensen Ackles (Dean from Supernatural, and Jason Todd in BUTRH) doing the voice for Leon. I guess will see.
  14. The same thing happened back in 1988-89 when Jason Todd got bumped. The media was just saying "Robin" got killed, and those outside of the comic book world believed that it was Dick Grayson. The media failed to mention that the Robin that got killed wasn't the original Robin from the 1960's show and the cartoons, but instead a character that took the place of the Robin role. The media purposely does this because it causes controversy, and where there's controversy there's ratings and papers being sold...which makes the money roll right in for them. Even though DC had drawn the alternate ending for ADITF with Jason living, I have always believed that one of the main reasons that DC decided to have Jay killed, was probably because the Batman movie would be out that coming Summer. So they wanted Batman in the books to reflect the Batman on screen, with no Robin. Just look at Superman's current style in the books and in the upcoming movie. I know that it has in part to do with all the litigation going on with the character, but they want the current book version to match the current movie version and vice versa.
  15. Yeah, for comic fans who get that, the whole issue goes to "who cares?" Its not the real Alan Scott. Golden Age superheroes would never go gay. And if they did, they would keep it all "Rock Hudson" to the end. Haha or he could go the way of Cesar "Joker" Romero (which we now know he does), and have it be an open secret, within the Justice Society.... Scott's giant ring and cape, should have been a give away that he was raiding Liberace's closets... I now see Alan Scott as the "Walter Mercado" of the DC Universe... You know, if Alan Scott has to be gay, I do wish he would be flamboyant about it. I tire of this "modern" gayness in which a gay character is made ordinary. Haha I hear ya man. I originally wanted a "straight" gay guy character, but the "delicate" gay is much more entertaining. But you know how everything in American society is, its like walking in landmines...as to not offend anyone. I too would like to see a gay character be depicted with the "SSSSSSSS" emphasis, and the over the top birdcage swagger. But judging by Scott's costume, he's definitely the one gay guy that doesn't color coordinate.... There's two ways that they could make them, either he appears "straight" and the gayness slips out like in the clip below. Or the way of the Buddy Cole character, which is very "delicate"... It would have been much easier if it was Marvel that was exclusively in charge of the "gay" in comics... Its easier to believe that Johnny Storm was turned gay, because he's been flaming on for years....
  16. I just copy/pasted a link as quick as I could. I knew someone would and I wanted to be first I had thought about posting it myself when I first saw it, but thought that the topic may have been too controversial for this website.

  18. What did you expect, Time Warner owns both DC and Warner Bros, which is why the Hollywood influence is there. For years now the media has been slowly trying to turn men into women, and women into men... If anyone doesn't think that its true, just open your eyes and look at western society. What do you mean men into women. I ask since I can follow up with that An example of "men into women" is the whole metrosexual thing. Also the whole "Emo" thing.... Also the way that many males (especially during the mid to late 2000's within Hip Hop culture), were letting their hair grow out long, wore earrings on both ears, wore pink shirts or pants, referring to each other as "baby", and some even started having their nails done. Look at the way that society has been trying to make a fashion statement, by making some men believe that its cool to use a "satchel"... I don't care what anyone says, that's a fckin purse... I'm all for hygiene and believe that everyone should have clean nails (men and women), but if "straight" guys are going out of their way and having them done and painted, that is something else completely. Look at how many males have been conditioned through the media (movies, TV shows, etc.), to be afraid or subservient to women. Many males have become afraid to approach women, where in past generations men courted women without the fear of rejection. In some sitcoms men in marriages have been told to get a vasectomy, because the wife "doesn't want to have any more kids"...and its looked as being acceptable. Look at how many males have been taught to walk away, if someone confronts them physically. Now I'm not saying that a male should get into a fight with everything that moves, but if someone attacks you physically, then put that person in their place physically as well. Men by nature are supposed to be aggressive and the more dominant of the two genders, but instead our society has been slowly trying to take that away from newer generations of males. Many people may not agree with my view, and that's fine to each his own. But I was brought up with old school values when it comes to gender roles, and just because modern society considers something "cool" or "acceptable", it necessarily doesn't always mean that its right or ethical. Oh, okay. I asked because there was a movement of making less manly men sexy durng the turn of the century. From what I had learned in Sociology class a few years ago, society tried to make the less manly men more desirable by making depicting musculanity an undesireable trait. In constrast, they make men who are weaker, but more wealthy more desirable. These men are obviously still in power. My point is that society controls what he like or don't even if we know it or not. Like I was saying earlier with Asian men being femanized and Asian women being desirable, that is due to western society even if it wasn't done on purpose. Exotic women are desirable no matter what skin color they are; we humans tend to want things that our "rare" or out of "reach". Since Asian women (or any ethnic group from a third world country) are stereotyped as being passive and obedient to their husbands, people in the west finds them desirable especially after the women rights movement - some feel that American women are too indepedent, so they prefer women from other countries. I can tell you that Asian women being passive is largely a myth. They seem passive and obedient is because that is how western media depict them as. I remember reading an article years ago where mail order marriages between a Chinese woman and a western man in Hong Kong tends to end up in divorce because of misconception about both ethnic groups and culture clashes. Likewise, a lot of my friends who are of color (Asian, Black, etc..) have this misconception that Caucassian blonde women are the holy grail when it comes to women because of what Hollywood depict them as. To quote my friend, who is of South American and Flippino ancestry, "White women are like God's gift to the world - they have smooth white skin, are freaky in bed, and are the most beautiful race overall". I think white women are desirable to minorities because they have lots of exposure in movies and tv. They are also of a different ethnic group, makes them "exotic" and therefore, desirable. Sorry for my rant, but I think the media controls what we want and don't want. Hey man its cool, and I agree with you completely. I have no idea why Hollywood portrays Asian men as less manly, if anything most of the Asian males that I have met that were not born or raised in America, were far from effeminate or submissive. They were old school in terms morality, honor, and respect. I also like how in Asian cultures specifically Chinese culture, the elderly are revered. I can relate to that, because I was brought up to respect my elders. Now about the "independent" American women that you are talking about, its not that they are "independent" its that they have been spoiled and have become high maintenance due to all the bullsht that school and the media pushes. From personal experiences I have seen that many of these "independent" and "empowered" feminazi women usually end up single or completely alone. That's unless they hook up with a man-gina that's willing to become their subservient slave. The thing is no male with a pair of balls, is going to put up that bullsht. See these kinds of women have this false belief that they will be able to pick and choose whomever they want, because they think they will be young forever. Notice that most women that have the stuck-up c*nt "my sht dont stink" attitude, usually change when they hit their 30's or 40's... that's because their "clock" is ticking, and unlike most men, women can only have children up to a certain age. So they put aside all the bullsht if they want to find a man that will give them kids, or just want to get with them as a companion. The alternative to natural procreation is the test tube baby method, which in the media is a favorite for some couples. And those who refuse to change their feminazi mentality, usually end up alone like I said before. I would be considered a "minority" in this country, and I can tell you right now that I do not believe that blondes are the be all and end all of women. I have been attracted to women of all races, backgrounds, and ages (under 70 years old though), just as long as I'm attracted to them. But I have always had a preference for naturally jet-black haired or brunette women. Even though I have seen blondes that are attractive, I cant really relate to those "minority" males that die for blondes though. I also agree with you about the media being responsible for controlling what people like or don't like. I would really like to talk more about this, but I wouldn't want somebody to get a stick up their ass and start banning people. To add about the people in power making men less manly desirable, if I remember, at the turn of the 20th century, jobs were shifting from hard labor to office type jobs. This is why the people in power changed the way women view men. As for Asian men being depicted as effeminate, there is a lot of reasons why, some not done intentionally. For one, there isn't a lot of Asian men in the U.S. media. Not because they are a shortage of Asian American actors, but because the audience might find a movie or show filled with a particular ethnic group too "ethnic"; UPN was caught with a lot of flak for having a lot of Black television shows during a time when it was rare to have a black family on tv; I think Family Matters was the only show airring shortly before the birth of UPN. Hollywood hardly takes risk - most shows and films out are either remakes of sequels. The Asian men that starred in American TV and movies tend to be martial artist or comedy relief characters. Because of that their character tends to not have a love interest, hence the stereotype that Asian men are either asexual or gay. I think minorities find blondes attractive because the genetic trait for a person being blonde is a recessive trait, hence being less common and therefore, "exotic". The same goes for blue eyes. That is why in Asia dying one's hair is popular. The same goes with Caucassian people tanning their skin. So far, the conversation is okay, but I can see it stray and go a completely different direction. We can continue it through PM. Also during WWII a lot of women took over jobs that men did, while men were away at war. I do remember when UPN had mostly black shows, but Family Matters wasn't the only show being aired before the UPN formed. The WB (before it became the CW) had a black shows before UPN did. The WB had shows like "Smart Guy", "the Wayans Bros.", "Sister, Sister", "the Steve Harvey show" and "The Parent 'Hood" just to name a few. So the WB did it before UPN. And you're right about the Asian male stereotypes in movies and on TV, they are usually depicted as martial arts guys, or some form of comic relief. I remember reading about all the bullsht that Bruce Lee went through with Hollywood and how he hated how Asians were stereotyped in western cinema. In the past they also made the Asian characters usually be villains in cartoons and they were depicted with green skin for some reason... For instance with characters like "Ming" (from Flash Gordon/Defenders of the Earth), or "the Mandarin" (from Iron Man). Almost every ethnic group in Hollywood gets stereotyped.... Look at how many Hispanic characters are stereotyped.. They are usually shown as the gardeners, the housekeepers, gang members, or drug lords of some kind... And the men are usually depicted with hairy man cleavage and bunch of gold jewelery. Oh and my favorite, all Hispanics characters in Hollywood movies are depicted as either from Mexico or Puerto Rico, and very rarely Cuba...because of course there are no other Hispanic countries in the world... Sometimes stereotypes are annoying, but the people that run Hollywood purposely do it that way. As for the tanning bit, Ive never been into that and don't understand why people don't just accept themselves for how they are. But like we both know, the media manipulates and is responsible especially for what modern western society "likes" or "doesn't like". American media for quite some time now seems to have made light skin as unattractive, and darker skin as more attractive... Which is why many people with white skin try to make themselves darker. And some go to the extreme like that idiot lady that got so tanned, that she looked like something out of Willy Wonka.... Western society says its OK to make yourself darker, but look at all the crap that darker people get, when they make their skin lighter... Its the same thing, but American society has made most believe that only darker skin is beautiful, and that lighter skin is unattractive... So when people make their skin whiter they get the "oh you're trying to be white now", but yet no one says "oh your trying to be black now" when someone makes their skin darker... But yet here's the real irony about tanning, most people with light skin that tan (especially the women), usually look 50 years old by the time they are 30... That's because tanning (with sun or tanning beds) ages your skin at a faster rate. And the people that spent their whole time tanning, keeping the tanning industry in business, are the same people that go in their later life and keep the nip tuck industry in business... You see all the tanning has destroyed their skin, so then they go and have a facelift trying to fix the aging that the tanning has caused them throughout the years. Do you see how one hand washes the other, between the two industries? Its all money man, and most people are either too weak or too stupid to think for themselves, but instead for some people its easier to "fall in" and do what society says is "cool" or is "expected" of how people should be. The ones that don't "fall in" are looked at as being "strange" or "crazy" by the simple-minded, because one is able to think for oneself and doesn't follow the herd. In the end everyone is free to do whatever they want. One person's garbage is another person's treasure. P.S. yojoebro, this thread that you made has become a very interesting thread. This is probably one of the longest and most spirited threads on this website haha. The funny thing about stereotypes in movies is that if the movie has a cult following, some people will get offended if people complains about the movie having stereotypes. For instance, the makers of the game Kane and Lynch 2 is recently being sued by China for negatively portraying Asians in a stereotypical manner - almost all the Asian characters are gangsters (Asians are normally stereotyped as gangster on western TV); the game takes place in China. Suing a game company over alleged racism is over the top, but I can clearly see why China is outraged over the game. There are a few people who would defend the game (those who likes the game), saying it isn't racist because the main characters, who are white, are also bad people. That is really a moot point considering that the main characters are the antiheroes in the game. The problem with the game is that you have one or two guys of one ethnicity going to a country filled with other ethnic group and killing them off. It is like those Steven Segal movies where he goes and beats up a group of "ethnic" people. For example, in one of his films, he goes after a large Jamican gang. Family Guy referenced this in one of the older episodes where Steven Segal fights a gang of seals. These types of films were popular doing WWII when we were at war with Germany, Italy, and Japan - it was a way to boost US morale. However, whether intentional or not, it shows racial superiority. James Cameron's Avatar was also hit with having racist overtones; the film is a modern adaption of the "Noble Savage" concept and all the racist are played by people of color. I had read articles where it said that Aliens were a natural choice to use in a modern "Noble Savage" story to avoid accusations of racism from other minority communities. s for Hispanic people being stereotyped, I see it too. I seen it two times already today; one of characters in a movie I watched was a gardener. In the Law & Order game I played afterwards, there was a Latina Inn maid. I also heard that from a friend that another Latin stereotype is that Latin men and women are sexy dancers and good lovers. This bugged him since he said that when people hit on him, they expected to be swept off their feet. From my minorities class years ago, people started to tan their skin during the "Black is beautiful" movement. This was shortly after the Civil Rights movement. As you said, the media made darker skin more attractive, hence why people started to tan their skins. What is funny about the media is that although it encourages people in the US to darkening their skins, they also encourage people in other countries to lighten their skin. I remember reading an article a few months ago where there was this cream that makes a woman's Vajayjay white. The commerical tries to tell the viewer that having a dark Vajayjay is a turn off to men. The cream is a product from India. Here is the article: http://jezebel.com/5...-also-too-brown Very true. I remember when Biohazard 5/Resident Evil 5 was about to be released, the media was claiming that the game was racist, because the characters were shooting blacks that were turned into monsters. Funny how its "racist" when black characters are being shot, but its totally fair game when in part 4 it was Spaniards that were being shot...and yet no one said anything. My grandparents were from Spain, and to be honest with you I didn't see it as racist, that the villains in part 4 were Spaniards. The game took place in Spain, so the Spanish are going to be the ones there. Just like how in part 5 the monsters were black, because it took place in a part of Africa. Yes the entire continent of African isn't black, but you know what I mean. It also reminds me of the whole thing with Vice City, when later releases of the game removed the Haitian gangs, because some people started to complain. Well Vice City is a fictionalized version of Miami, and Miami does have a large group of Haitians, among other ethnic groups... So I don't see what the big deal was... But that's the society that we live in, people have been conditioned by the media and by what we are taught in schools, to feel like we are walking a land mines, anytime that anything is ever said about a specific ethnic group. You're right about the Seagal thing, I remember in Marked for Death, all he did was eye gouge Jamaican gangsters... Today's society has gotten a pole so far up its ass, that someone wouldn't be able to make a move like that in today's Hollywood, because there would be severe cries of racism... Then again Seagal has always been a man of tall tales.... He has claimed to have been a CIA operative, involved in covert operations taking down Yakuza. He has also claimed that he cant be choked out, because his Ki is too high... He's claimed that he's the reincarnation of a Dalai Lama... Well if Steven believes that, then who am I to say that he's wrong... The guy has more stories than Dr. Seuss... He was one of the first westerners to go to Japan and teach Aikido, that's one story which is true. But Seagal also had a reputation of being a bully on the set of his films, with stuntmen... That was only up until he came across martial artist and stuntman Gene LeBell. LeBell has been grappling since before Steven was even a thought. Anyway Steven tried his whole "spiritual guru" crap with LeBell claiming that LeBell couldn't choke him out... And so LeBell did, and Steven ended up defecating in his pants as a result...Its a true story. I don't know if you knew this but Steven started his movie career through Jules Nasso, a guy that was allegedly connect to the Gambino Crime Family. Steven got into some serious trouble withe Gambinos at one point, because he decided to stop making his "I can kick everyone ass" kind of movies, and Gambinos weren't getting the large cut that they used to get, when Steven first started his move career in the late 80's... Here's a link http://www.trutv.com...n_seagal/3.html Ive heard of that skin cream, I think that many Bollywood actors and actress have used it. I don't know maybe its just me, but Ive noticed that when some American black female singers get big, they start too look lighter and lighter as time goes by... Some examples are Beyonce Knowles, Rhianna, Nicki Minaj, etc. I wonder if they use that cream.
  20. Man that lady sounds like she has watched "Raising Arizona" a few too many times... I cant wait for the news to also report about the supermarket melee over the stolen Huggies...

  22. Today's episode was awesome! I loved how Richard tricked Impulse, it was such a "Batman" thing to do. I liked the close-up of Barry's Flash logo when he transformed, it reminded me of the John Wesley Shipp series whenever they would do a close up of the Flash logo in the opening sequence. It looks like Impulse is stuck in the past now, and it also looks like the writers are doing something similar to Bishop and "Days Of Future Past" with this episode and possible storyline. The time travel story maybe the key to why the show went 5 years into the future. I'm also glad that they finally found the real Roy Harper. It doesn't help that they went the way of "Requiem For a Dream" with his missing forearm and all... I know that the 70's comics had him as a junkie, and that's obviously not the reason why hes missing his arm on the show. But in the comics he did lose his arm as Red Arrow, I wonder what the reason for his lost arm will be on the show. Also I noticed that the real Roy's voice sounded slightly different from the clone, and looked a little younger too. Anyway this episode was great. Looks like next week's episode will feature Superman and senior members of the Justice League, I cant wait.
