  1. As far as I'm concerned this is the biggest mistake in the history of comics. And for what? To make the comics "edgier"? To make them more "real world" and "relevant"? If I want real world and relevant, I'll watch the news! That's not why I read comics! I've heard any number of people on a number of boards, totally unrelated, liken this to the "New Coke" of the comics world. Hopefully it will be at least as short-lived. I know I won't be reading much of it, and I've been a dedicated fan od DC for many years. I gave up on Marvel a few years ago when they started in on that Civil War/Initiative/Dark Reign garbage. This -- honestly looks worse. Also not happy with the impact it's having on Mattel's DC Universe Classics figures.
  2. From what I've heard, it wasn't canceled -- it just didn't ship in time. Then I later heard that a quantity of them DID show up, at EntertainmentEarth's booth at the Convention. At the moment, I've checked both TRU.Com, and EE.Com, and there's no sign of it. And I'm really interested in this set. $40 is a bit steep, but worth it.
  3. What Wolvie 62 has said is unfortunately correct. If this subscription fails, Mattel will NOT be offering these figures, and all that will be at retail will be "New Coke DC" garbage, and the occasional classic figure, which I doubt very much will include the likes of Jay Garrick and Atrocitus. Someone on another board speculated that Mattel might have gotten blindsided by this relaunch, that they had no intention of ending DC Universe Classics as it presently exists, until this nonsense came out of the ether and they have to go along with it. While there's no specific proof of that, it wouldn't surprise me. At the same time, I think Mattel realizes there's still a generous number of fans for classic-type product, and they want to accomodate us if at all possible. They probably also had product almost ready to go -- LIKE Jay Garrick and Atrocitus -- and they'd like to do something with it. Personally, I am hopeful that the DC Relaunch fails, and fails miserably, and that those most responsible for it are shown the door in short order. But until that happens and the DC Universe can recover -- and hopefully DC Universe Classics with it -- we've got to do what we can. I'm not that crazy about the idea of a subscription. I collect Masters of the Universe Classics figures, but I don't subscribe. However, if this is the only way to assure some continuance of what I believe to be the finest action figure line presently going -- then so be it. I wasted no time in subscribing. I urge every fan of DC who has ever bought any number of DC Universe Classics figures -- PLEASE -- SUBSCRIBE! It's the only way to really keep the line going.
