  1. That's really cool! I've thought about paiting mine. I think it's a great figure with tremendous detail work, but a better paintjob really would bring thise details home. I think it'd be really cool to see a camoflage one. I usually use citadel and tamiya paints. Stay away from Appel Barrel and Folk Art (Wal-Mart paints) as they really are quite crap. First I soak the base/piece in pinesol for a little while rather than soapy water. But I a little dish soap works too. Then I use a spare toothbrush to get in those har-to-reach areas. But since your using a Master Chief, I would watch out with the soap since he's got the chrome face plate, unless you plan on repainting it anyway. It's possble it could chip or fade. I appreciate the compliment, and while I agree that Citadel and Tamiya are far excellent paints to use, I have to tell you, this is a really simple repaint, and I just used the cheap paints (Folk Art ironically enough) because all you're doing is adding to the base green, you don't have to worry about paint chipping or rub because the fig is already green. I do agree that any other time, for a full repaint, and for sturdiness to use Tamiya or Citadel(Tamiya is cheaper and works just as good) but to save money here, just use cheap stuff. As for the soaking the figure, completely unnecessary here, as the green is factory molded, and there is no paint to strip off (not that you'd want to anyway). Just do the wash/drybrush and you wont have to worry about the existing paint.
  2. Ok, you start off with the dark green. This is a wash. What you do, is water down the paint, until it is runny, but still has colour, and enough paint so that it will not drip. Then you use a brush and mostly get into all the crevices. If you used too much water, it will leak and wont stay in the cracks. Do this all around (but not on the black and grey obviously) and let it dry. Then, get out some lime green (I remember I mixed in a metallic green with it too) and very slightly water it down (just enough so that its not as thick, do not add a lot of water, VERY little). Get a bunch on your brush, and wipe it off onto a paper towel or something until there is not too much on the brush. Then using a stiff brush, go over the raised areas until they've got a pretty good coat. You wont have to worry about accuracy for the most part (except watch the visor) because you'll be doing very broad strokes. Then you're done.
  3. The ML5 Mr Fantastic has a head that is practically Bale in resemblance. I noticed this a while ago, and had plans for it , but never got around to it.
  4. http://groups.msn.com/HakatoXfriends/wolve...oms.msnw?Page=2 Maybe this might help. I did this repaint as soon as I got the Master Chief. Its a dark green wash, then light/neon green drybrushed over top. Very simple.
  5. What the hell?! Nobody mentioned TORQUE?!!! That is the absolute worst movie EVER, no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
  6. Excellent stuff. Loved the show, love the toys, still have a bunch: Phaeton, Typhonus, and Bronski are all still boxed too, original releases. Plus a bunch of loose ones. I still buy em if I find em, but all of a sudden they got hard to find. Frig, they were hard to find when they first came out! Good times, makes me miss my dad, because he bought me them, and he died last year. Urg, sorry to go off topic like that.
  7. Its funny, those figures were so bad, they were clearing them out at Big Lots at like $4 each for the longest time.... I dont think they still have em, but some fun factoids for you to ponder on.
  8. oh yeah, Great Expectations, I've never been so sad to see DeNiro die on screen. Tough one to watch for sure. I like Jerry McGuire too, but its not a cry movie.
  9. Dave Mustaine, easily sends the competition home in a body bag.
  10. THE BEST John Bonham and Keith moon are LEGENDS, so you better know who they are -Gar Samuelson (Megadeth) THE BEST acid-rock drummer, too bad hes dead. Check out Peace Sells...but whos buying. Now. -Every other Megadeth drummer, esp Nick Menza on Rust in Peace, fantastic. -Tommy Lee(Motley Crue) Shout at the Devil is the best example here -Lars Ulrich(Metallica) even though hes a little shrimp, I will give his drumming solid credit -Dave Grohl (look at anything hes done, but Queens of the Stone Age's Songs for the Deaf still kicks my ass over and over again, excellent leading on songs) -Alex Van Halen(Sammy's sissy songs wrecked Alex's opportunities to pull out the kickass drumming, but I think Hot For Teacher says it all, god bless you David Lee Hoth Halen) -Gavin Brown(listen to Big Sugar's "Heated" over and over. You'll know what I mean. -Jason Bonham (he played in Jimmy Page's solo effort "Outrider", SOLID album, very solid, also check out his band BONHAM)
  11. Anyone who likes Creed is a disgrace to rock. End of story. PS, Billy Talent, Velvet Revolver, Hives, Killers, etc etc are great bands, despite their difference from classic rock. It was wrong of RandomHero to pack them into rock, as I would classify them as New Wave. That is probably the main point towards them, is that they're not trying to be like Hendrix, Zeppelin, Yardbirds, etc because its been done. I have to stop listening to classic bands sometimes, because you hear it all before, and its not often that it changes or that theres something you've missed (aside: there are a lot of bands that you can listen like this, especially Megadeth). Also, if you would listen to Kiss, and you are a fan of rock, then you should also be a fan of Kiss. You whine about guitar riffs and great singing, and then you say you don't like Kiss. Well you poor uneducated and ignorant soul, Kiss rules, and they rock harder than any band on the planet. The only band to have more gold records than them is the Beatles, and they don't count as rock, as I elaborate in the next paragraph. PS, I hate bands that fall into rock, but aren't rock. Now, I don't mean punk or new wave stuff like what I mentioned at the start of this post, because I love both those genres, not so much punk, but I love the Ramones and a bunch of others. What I really mean are bands like the Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, Bob Dylan(I loved the Travelling Willburys tho), Janis Joplin, and other garbage. I can't express how much I despise the Beatles. I mean, who wants to sit down to a rock song, and get a wussy cry song. Too bad Lennon was the only Beatle to be shot. Now, its harsh to say that I hate the Beatles, I know, however, there are exceptions to the rule. Anything by Wings, because Paul learned how to rock, and stop being a suck rocker in the Beatles. Also, George Harrison was a brilliant writer, and drastically underused in the Beatles. His influences with Clapton are the major example of this. (I love anything by Cream). Ringo can go to hell. PPS, I just schooled you on rock. Oh and Sublime, the Trews, Kirk Hammet all suck ass.
  12. Thats a cool figure, do you have any comparison pics with the alternators?
  13. Just wanted to say, I LOVE the Star Trek guys getting whomped by Aliens. I can't believe nobody ever thought of that before. Pure awesomeness. Oh, and all of them could easily win dio of the year. Especially the Punisher one, thats fantastic too. Oh, and are you also the guy with the ML GI Joes, because I remember a thread with them vs Aliens, and they were also awesome. Great job.
  14. How much would you comission that for?
  15. I dont think you want to pay $500 bucks for a trailer, so lets just say its not for sale....
  16. yowza, thats pretty freakin sweet, I wish they would just do another angela like that because it would sell like hotcakes
  17. That is freaking awesome, impressive display of skills. You have a great talent for this stuff. I would also have rather seen that version of Catwoman first, and I may have to try making her 90's style now. Too cool.
  18. not bad for a first I personally don't like the hair, but I think it just needs a repaint because there are unpainted patches on the inner part behind the head. Its cool to see you know how to decoupage symbols The major thing you need to work on is the paintjob. The application is fine, but you might need to thin your paint and do multiple thin coats for a smoother effect. Also, it may look better if you try to staighten up the darker blue seams, they look kind of uneven. I am sure you will improve greatly with time (hey, my first custom sucked pretty hard, yours looks like a DaVinci piece compared to it) but once you do more, its fun to redo the old stuff, and you have to consider that this is where it all starts, and I hope you get sucked into doing many more.
  19. I am 99.9% sure that's a Hellina head, made by Skybolt Toyz in 1997(?) And it works nice, 'cept its kinda cartoony. Nice paint job too, except the head because I know the original looks exactly the same.
