  2. Way to blow one of the best storylines you've had in years last night , idiots !
  3. I know he is still with the WWE , I never even questioned it before he won the title. What I'm asking is , how far is the WWE willing to go with this storyline? As far as letting their belt appear on an indy wrestling show ? I think they just might.

  6. Looks like the reason he got "injured" last night.

  8. The thing is though , Sharkboy & Young have been in wrestling a lot longer than GenMe . This type of "hotshot" booking has gone on forever , GenMe needs to grow thicker skins if they expect to make it in the biz.
  9. Kazarian pinned Samoa Joe when he rolled through a rear naked choke attempt Douglas Williams beat Mark Haskins w/ a schoolboy rollup after Haskins missed a 450 splash Sharkboy & Eric Young beat Generation Me w/ a combination neckbreaker Alex Shelley won the Ultimate X match to become the #1 contender for the X division title over Robbie E , Shannon Moore ,& Amazing Red Rob Van Dam frogsplashed Jerry Lynn for the victory Austin Aries won a TNA Contract by defeating Jack Evans , Zema Ion ,& Low Ki after Aries gave Low Ki a brainbuster Brian Kendrick rolled through a chokeslam attempt to beat Abyss for the X division title AJ Styles pinned Christopher Daniels after a Spinal Tap
  10. How about : "What If WCW won the Monday Night Wars?" as your next thread ?
  11. Wrong . Bret would have gladly dropped the title to anyone else . It wasnt until after Vince was insistant on Bret dropping the belt to Shawn @ SS did he start invoking his "creative control" clause & came up w/ the whole giving up the belt on RAW scenario. WWF never should have given Bret a CC clause if they werent going to honor it. Believe me, Im not saying two wrongs make a right (three lefts do) .Im just saying that if someone feels that Bret was childish for doing what he did , they should feel the same way about Shawn doing the same thing (multiple times), unless of course ,they are a hypocrite. On the other hand , years later , I can totally see Vinces POV from a business standpoint .After all, WCW was kicking their ass badly , & you know what they say about desperate times.
  12. Well he really did have an injury though, he did have the surgery. He probably COULD have still worked through it after WM if that's what your saying. Nope, not what I'm sayin' : double standard — n a set of principles that allows greater freedom to one person or group than to another
  13. Brets biggest mistake was actually wrestling the match in the first place. Some of the other wrestlers (Vader, Bulldog) warned him about the possibility of a screwjob , but he didnt heed their warnings. At least when Shawn decided he didnt want to drop a title to someone (IE: NOT do whats right for business) , he was smart enough to fake an injury or "lose his smile".
  14. The Highspots Facebook page has noted that TNA star Ric Flair's $35,000 judgment has been paid to the wrestling retailer, therefore Flair will avoid jail time. "Whichever Angel pitched in the $ for him THANK YOU," reads the Highspots Facebook page post, seeming to imply that someone other than Flair paid the judgment. Flair had an order issued for his arrest on May 25th, due to non-payment of a court settlement of $35,000 that Flair had to pay Highspots by June 27th, 2011, or he could have faced jail time.

  16. In contrast I believe that everything as to why that match would not work today is what is wrong with wrestling today. Everything they do is a power move and people kick out of finishers all the time now. Back then, drop kicks mattered, atomic drops mattered, clotheslines mattered. Today moves like that don't mean anything, wrestling is a little too overhyped now. Hmmmmmm , sounds like you guys might be referring to something that doesn't much exist nowadays = RING PSYCHOLOGY !
  17. Sting vs. Flair @ NWAs Clash of the Champions #1. I specifically remember thinking "well, there goes Stings push" when this match was over ..... obviously I was wrong. I felt that this match exposed Sting as not being "Main Event ready" as he had to resort to doing the same moves over and over again (kick,punch,hip-toss,dropkick,press slam). To me this match is slow , repetitive ,and boring , and looked even moreso due to the fact that the Midnight Express/Fantastics tore the house down in their match just moments before it.
  18. I realize most of you wont be familiar with him , but his version of International Wrestling is one of my all-time favorite promotions & he ,along w/ Gino Brito were a great announcing team IMO : Milt Avruskin, the voice of Superstars of Wrestling in the 1970s and International Wrestling in the 1980s, as well as the key player behind Pro Wrestling Canada, died suddenly on Saturday. He was 64. Avruskin, who was born in Fergus, Ontario, never set out to be involved in the wrestling business, and always said that it was a "total accident" that he got involved in announcing. Yet, alongside Crybaby George Cannon on Superstars, which got wide reach in Canada through stations such as Global TV, Avruskin was in homes on a weekly basis, describing the action and looking downright small in comparison to the behemoths in the ring. The shows, mostly taped in Windsor, Ontario, and Montreal, Quebec, are still remembered fondly by fans. When Gino Brito teamed with Andre the Giant and Frank Valois to bring wrestling back to Quebec with International Wrestling, he needed someone that knew the TV business, and that was Avruskin. After International Wrestling sold out to the expanding WWF, Avruskin saw an opportunity, and worked with Angelo Mosca on Pro Wrestling Canada, a brief attempt to bring the NWA (primarily through the Charlotte-based Jim Crockett Promotions) to southern Ontario. Apart from the wrestling, Avruskin was an expert in TV distribution, and often spoke with sadness at how foolish promoters like Cannon were to never keep the master tapes of the TV programs. His Toronto-based company, Rebel Media Ventures, led him to work with some of the top broadcast executives and producers worldwide. But in recent years, he spoke with great joy about being able to bring his son, Aaron, into the business as well. In the late 1980s, he had a major influence on two teenage wrestling fans from southern Ontario -- this writer and Aaron Weiss, who would promote, and later run the Pro Wrestling Superstars: Past, Present and Future pay-per-views. "Milt Avruskin took a 14-year-old wrestling fan and gave him the chance to co-host and do play by play for the AWA," recalled Weiss. "He was blunt, kind and very talented. He was my friend and single handily launched my career." As for this writer, a chance meeting at a Waterloo restaurant led to the editor of The Canadian Wrestling Report -- me -- being invited to a Pro Wrestling Canada taping, and then backstage to do interviews at a show at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. It marked my graduation from interviewing Ontario indy wrestlers to stars such as Ivan Koloff and Gino Brito Sr.
  19. "I had to pre-order this after I saw some of the awesome content on it. The only thing I'm really disappointed in is the lack of cruiserweight stuff. A lot of the matches with guys like Ultimo Dragon, Psychosis, Rey Mysterio, and Juventud Guerrera were some of the most entertaining I've ever seen in wrestling." DarthJoe , have you seen this one ? : http://www.amazon.com/Wrestlings-Highest-Flyers-Rey-Mysterio/dp/B003VMFX42/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307308592&sr=8-1 There are some good matches with the guys you mentioned on it.
  20. No , WWE is for kids . The territories werent for kids. NWA/WCW wasnt for kids (well, somewhat). ECW wasnt for kids. Ring of Honor isnt for kids. Japanese wrestling isnt for kids. The WWF Attitude Era wasnt for kids. Sure , they all wanted kids to watch/attend shows , but WWF/E is the only wrestling organization that I can think of that blatantly market their product towards children .
  21. "SCALDED DOG" !!!!!!!!!"SCALDED DOG" !!!!!!!!!"SCALDED DOG" !!!!!!!!! When I first saw Ross in Mid-South/UWF I thought he was great. Then he went to NWA & they made him tone down his announcing style , but I still thought he was one of the best at the time. Somewhere along the way , WWF/E decided they wanted their announcers to "speak in soundbytes" , hence modern day J.R. His commentating is white noise to me now , It doesnt even register with me when I'm watching it. I started to lose respect for Ross when I saw the documentary "Beyond the Mat". There were a couple guys getting tryouts (Mike Modest was one I think?) , & they showed J.R. telling one of them how he needed to work on his physique afterwards. I realize that he was just doing what the company wanted him to do , but that just never sat well with me . Having overweight Jim Ross critiquing anyones body was so hypocrytical to me at the time , & I just continued to lose more and more respect for him as time went on.
  22. The only thing that I am questioning is his business deals that he obviously hasn't been honoring. Back in the day , you would have never heard anything but what a consummate professional Ric Flair was. Now , he just doesn't seem to care about honoring his "professional" business ventures. As far as his "personal" life goes , its just that..."personal", IMO.
  23. I dont know whats going on w/ Ric right now ? He had that incident overseas with TNA , Ring Of Honor has a lawsuit pending against him still, & now this ??
