  1. Sears owns Kmart ....You make it sound like its the other way around Actually it IS the other way around , they just decided to use the name Sears Holdings : Kmart, sometimes styled as "K-Mart," is a chain of discount stores headquartered in the United States. The chain acquired Sears in 2005, forming a new corporation under the name Sears Holdings Corporation

  6. I saw it today & really dont understand all the venom its getting from critics. I will say that the dialogue is pretty bad , it IS filled w/ cliche characters/situations , but I still enjoyed it for what it is . I liked it better than ID4 and Discrict 9.

  9. Has anyone else watched this yet ? It is an homage to '70s blaxploitation/kung fu films . Michael Jai White (Spawn,The Dark Knight) wrote & stars in it & does possibly his best acting I've seen from him yet. Any fans of that genre looking for a laugh should check it out .
  10. Yeah , I saw them & they do look great . I am curious what scale they are in though ?
  11. Mattel is going for the early 90s comeback Snuka look :

  14. From Aintitcoolnews : One of my favorite movie stars, Brittany Murphy, passed away Sunday morning of a heart attack at age 32. While still a teenager, she served as a memorable component in one of my favorite movies, Amy Heckerling’s “Clueless.” She then went on to greater fame and success in a variety of big-screen starring roles, notably the sanatorium inmate Elisabeth in the 2001 smash “Don’t Say A Word” and the emerging romantic interest Alex in the 2002 blockbuster "8 Mile." She was also Shellie in 2005's "Sin City." She worked constantly, and will be seen among Sylvester Stallone's all-star cast next summer in "The Expendables." She was an amazing-looking actress who got plenty of work with just her voice, including roles in "Futurama," "Pepper Ann" and "Happy Feet." I loved that as her stock in Hollywood began to rise at the start of this decade she never abandoned her supporting role as Luanne Platter in the brilliant Mike Judge/Greg Daniels animated collaboration “King of the Hill.” She was wonderful in that too. Her other credits included "Drop Dead Gorgeous," "Girl, Interrupted," "Sidewalks of New York," "Summer Catch," "Riding in Cars With Boys," "Spun," "Just Married," "Uptown Girls," "The Groomsman," and "Love and Other Disasters." Find more on the fabulous Ms. Murphy here.
  15. it kind of went off into what movies you remember loving from the 80s? maybe? The topic is still movies you like, but you get flack for liking them. A lot of the 80's movies kinda fit that category. There are some 80's flicks I have yet to see. Legend is one of them. Still not buying it , has anyone ever REALLY gotten flack for liking The Thing , Donnie Darko , The Mad Max films , The Evil Dead Trilogy or Ed Wood ? Well I'm sure they have. Maybe not is your circles, but it might amaze you to see what movies you think are great and some a$$hole critic has chastised people for liking it. Ed Wood is supposed to be one of the worst movies ever made, according to some critics. Uuuh , No : http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ed_wood/
  16. I am just refering to the movies that have been mentioned that are pretty much universally adored , like the ones I mentioned already . I saw M&C at the theater , thought it was pretty good . Too bad it flopped , cuz isnt there like 13 books or something in the M&C series that they were thinking about making in films ? Anyway , if this thread has turned into the 80s movies you loved thread , I put my vote in for The Sword & The Sorcerer .

  18. Er , wasnt this topic supposed to be "movies that everyone hates , except you" ? Therefore , I dont think a lot of these films mentioned would really qualify for "cult classic" status . Some of these are in the IMDB top #250 , hardly movies that nobody else likes ..........just sayin'
  19. Finally got around to seeing this : AMAZING MOVIE !!!!! Amazing that someone would actually cast that dullard as Duke ! Amazing-ly atrocious acting ! Amazing that they were able to cram just about EVERY possible movie cliche into a nearly two hour film ! Amazing that the director thought that cheesy flashbacks can double as character development ! Amazing that I was dumb enough to believe that it would be any different ! So amazing that I had to go see Inglorious Basterds immediately after witnessing this POS to help me remember what truly talented filmmaking can accomplish .
  20. Oh yeah VH , Humanoids From The Deep is awesome ! Count me in the extinct clan too then , because I own Flash Gordon on DVD. Here are some of mine : Night of the Lepus Cabin Boy I Like To Hurt People War of the Gargantuas Monsturd Meet the Feebles Attack of the Killer Tomatoes Six String Samurai Jesus Christ:Vampire Hunter And I have to plug Retar-Dead (its really one word but will edit me) also , since I am in it (for a whole 15 seconds)
  21. BTW , it has now dropped to 62% on RT ....... getting dangerously close to the dreaded green tomato .
  22. I'll probably see it Sunday morning . I was going to wait til the DVD , but some of these positive reviews have me damn curious about it now . My prediction for opening weekend is around $26,000,000. Edit: I just noticed that my local drive-in is gonna have a G.I. Joe & Transformers 2 (which I havent seen either) double feature , so I might check that out Fri. or Sat. night instead .
