  1. TB themselves did an Alpha Flight line in the 5 inch days. It didn't sell well and ended up on clearance. Why? Probably because there wasn't ANY real recognizable characters in the mix. The same thing happened with just about any of their sub-lines that deviated from having well-known characters.

Where is this attitude that Hasbro thinks kids only want Wolverine and Spider-man?? They've made ONE Wolverine ML in Series 2. As far as Spidey, they haven't made any more than TB did before them. He IS the flagship Marvel character after all. He DID just have a major blockbuster film come out last year. He DOES have a brand new animated series on Saturday morning TV right now. It would be silly to not expect a lot of Spidey product out to capitalize on that kind of exposure.

  2. Kree Soldiers (Pink)

    Kree Soldiers (Blue)

I think the Kree have the most potential of any army builder figure. Due to their ranks being differentiated only by the color of the costume and chest emblem, you can achieve soldiers, colonels, captains, etc with just a single figure mold. Plus you can then have stand-alone Kree of importance like Mar-Vell, Yon-Rogg, etc.

  3. No one else uses the Star Wars/Sigma 6 joint but Hasbro (a fact which might not surprise you). Neither does anyone use the narrow Mattel pelvis. Could action figure joints be secured through copyright restrictions?

Some of the newer Marvel Select figures utilize the "elbro" joint. Marvel Toys also used it on a few of their TNA figures.

  4. With Gambit, foreign customers won't get screwed out of a figure they'll actually want.

Not sure I understand what you mean by that....can you explain?

Hasbro's website only ships to the US. Anyone outside of the US can't order exclusives from them. Therefore, if a figure wins that is wanted, they can't get it without going through Ebay or some other more expensive route. All the other figures would almost undoubtedly get put into a regular non-exclusive ML series, thus allowing non-US collectors the ability to find them.

  5. The Kree has the best potential for army building. Their whole army uses the same outfit, just in different colors and chest symbols. One body sculpt could make soldiers, captains, colonels, etc. Plus that body could also be used to make the notable Kree like Captain Mar-vell, Captain Atlas, Yon-Rogg, etc.

Of the ones listed though, AIM all the way.

  6. Well if series 3 follows what's happening with series 2, I have to wonder if these will even make it out anywhere. Hardly any variants period are getting out there.

Or will all 500 packaging variants make it to Australia only. :)

  7. I wonder if there are going to be 2 more figures in the HML4 series instead of the 6. Others rumored were the previously mentiond FA Storm, as well as AOA Sunfire and Silver Samurai

I'm hoping they wised up about the 8 piece BAF crap. Blob and Brood Queen coulda been done in 6. Series 5 will probably have Storm, Sunfire, and Silver Samurai.

  8. So far in '07, HASBRO has only given us two (2) friggin' waves...if Toy-Biz was still running the show, I think we'd have had:

TB's 3rd wave of 06 didn't hit stores until the end of August.

  9. Thing in F4 Jumpsuit(variant with mask when Wolverine clawed his face)

    Binary(Ms Marvel)

    Black Widow - grey outfit

    AOA Colossus

    AOA Cyclops

    AOA Magneto

    Earth X Captain America

    Iron Man 2020

Captain Marvel - Kree uniform(variants in other colors for Kree soldiers)

  10. This has been covered before. TB would have gladly put all these figures in an X-3 only line had the stuidio not rushed production like they did. Unfortunately the studio did not give enough lead time to produce a proper line, so what we got instead was the mixture of made-up and comic looks we got in the X-men line.

There has still been a desire for some X-3 figures, so they were sculpted and are being slipped in when they are able.

  11. Most Unique? - I'll go with Juggernaut. He was huge and there is little to no way his parts could be recycled on another figure. Same goes for Kingpin (exception: a color change).

Heh, kinda funny considering Juggernaut was made using parts from two Hulk Classics figures.

As for most generic, I say Havok. I liked his X-factor look, not the plain black bodysuit.

Most unique outside of BAFs, Blackheart.

  12. Black Apocalypse is not a variant, he's a running change. He was always planned to be black, the factory screwed up with blue.

  13. There were plans for a Classic Black Panther, it just didn't cost out in the budget. Same reason for the Bullseye variant. They were going for a Professor X variant with hoverchair, but when costs didn't work out, threw in Bullseye at the last minute.

Speedo Namor wouldn't have been a feasible variant in ML2. The legs had pants wrinkles and no bare feet.

As for a variant I think they should have done: ML5 GW Bridge variant of Nick Fury.
