  1. TRU did it to themselves :(

    With those prices....

Are Toys "R" Us' prices really that high or are places like Wal*Mart actually taking a loss on it's stuff by selling them so cheap because they can?

It's like you own a small harware store. Across the street a HUGE mega-hardware store opens up selling it's stuff at cheap prices. You are then forced to raise the prices of your stuff just to remain profitable.

  2. How does this set appeal to kids exactly? The more I look at this set the more I see it was just sort of thrown together.

ALL of the character art appears to based off of each character's original action figure. The Alley-Viper is in his yellow and black, Storm Shadow is in his Ninja Force colors, etc. Then the filecards themselves are a little wacky. The Alley-Vipers are simply labled as "Cobra Troopers" rather than "Urban Assault Troopers". Firefly's filecard seems to be the one from the Joe vs Cobra line where he was packaged with Nunchuck as it mentions him specifically. And does anyone know why they call the Flak-Viper "Nullifier"?

  3. Again, I'd rather see him as he DID look in his 20s (right before he stopped being "Anakin") than a "what if Anakin had never turned to the Dark Side and lived to be an old man before dying" version that we got in originally. To each his own I guess.

  4. People that dog that comes with the comic 3-pack is not supposed to be Timber. Why would Timber be in that pack? It's actually supposed to be one of Kwinn's sled dogs.

Most people assume it is Timber because would Kwinn come with *A* sled dog? That's just weird.

Well there were sled dogs in the comic and no Timber (this predates him).

  5. Didn't a Timber figure come with the DVD release of the 1st two mini series. The one packaged with a Snake Eyes figure. They used some other mold for him if I remember, but that is the only Timber figure I know of that has been released since the old toys were coming out.

Yeah they used max (from spearhead and max)

It wasn't Max (Max is a bobcat) it was Sandstorm (Dusty's coyote).

  6. "Anakin rejoined the light side and died as an older man and he should remain so in the final scene of Jedi."

But he didn't. He did so as a tore up cyborg. The way he appeared at the end of ROTJ was as how he NEVER ever looked in his life. He never looked like that with hair and no scars. That is why I actually like this change. It at least gives us an image of Anakin as he actually lived rather than the "what if" version we orignally got.

  7. Serpentor (Marvel bomic book look) - He always seemed to be just be going around in a pair of pants (no shirt), cape and head dress. I can only think of a few shirtless bodies. Road Pig's would just be too big I should think. Big Boa's body would work nicely but he has those straps (which I am pretty sure Serpentor wore nothing like).

Billy - He just needs to be done. They would just slap a new head on the original Storm Shadow body and give him some sleeveless arms.

Dr. Venom - I have no idea how they could do this one but it would rock if they made him.

Scarface - An actual one this time with some proper scars on his face.

Fred (as Cobra Commander) - Use the battle Armored Cobra Commander body, new head and maybe even a new removable helmet.

  8. Exellent review. I had this figure and used it frequently . . that is until I traded him off for Heavy Duty. I actually considered Sky Mate to be one of the "realistic guys" in the 90s. I think it would be cool if Hasbro rereleased this figure only in better colors.

  9. Hmmm . . well since Scrap Iron is supposed to be such a perfectionist that he wants to BLOW UP THE WORLD because of it's many imperfections that it seems likely that he would rather kill himself than let his hair go gray. No, the Scrap Iron I know would be dying his hair it's original color and spends hours each morning checking for gray hairs one one one. And I KNOW he wouldn't be going around with that clashing green backpack and gun without the clip thingy.

Never the less this is a pretty cool figure and I might just order me one of these sets.

  10. I don't know what people are complaining about with these rubberbands holding the weapons on the figures hand as I find that it's the super thick paint that Hasbro is using (see the Cobra Trooper) on their hands that makes it near impossible for the figures to hold their weapons. The rubberbands actually helped and I wish I had left it on.

Never the less I LOVE these figures even if Clutch has put on a few pounds. Hasbro keep them coming!

  11. Sgt. Major is not a new character. He was in the Marvel issues of the comic. But I have no idea who Hotwire is. I think I might have to actually get these things since they have such rare characters.

    1. Why is it that some characters have more than one specialty or title?Low-Light for example is "Night Spotter" and on another card a "Infared Sniper"?

    2. Wouldn't it be cool if Hasbro actually made figures for all these different kinds of Green Shirts? Ultimate Joe army building!

    3. Muskrat is a "Heavy-Fire Specialist"? Roadblock is a "Combat Camo Soldier"? Wild Bill a "Scout"?

    4. Is the "Armored B.A.T." the same as the B.A.A.T. from Star Brigade? If not what is it?

    5. What the heck is a "Crimson Guard Veteran"? A rank? (see below)

    6. I'm loving that there are different ranks such as "recruit", "thug", "inflitrator", "grunt", "initiate" and "officer" for the different Cobra trooper types.
