  1. ...

That's my rant, that's what we're all thinking basically. Did I miss anything?

You forgot to rant about Rex who is Duke's friend becoming Cobra Commander.

You know why this movie will suck? It is because of the writer's strike. They are obviously going with whatever script they have which was the one most of us do not like. @grumpy@

I know Duke is a "friend to all" according to his filecrad but how many friends is he going to have in this movie? Ripcord and Rex?

  2. I agree completely. To me, Rocky/G.I. Joe/Rambo/the 1980s just all go hand-in-hand for me, so this figure would have been really cool IMO. I've really been reminiscing alot lately; I've gotten back into the anniversary Joes hot and heavy, and I recently saw the latest Rambo movie. So I've in turn went back and started watching the first three. Now I know Hasbro couldn't secure the license for Rambo obviously (and unfortunately), so they had to try Rocky, which to me is almost as good if they couldn't get Rambo. It's just so ironic that on the way home from the movies my brother and I were talking about Rambo, and I was telling him how I always tended to think about G.I. Joe whenever I watched Rambo movies, and he agreed seeing how both were so popular throughout the 80s, and I was collecting Joes back when Rambo was so popular. I would have settled for Rocky and it would have been very cool, but I would have absolutely LOVED to see Rambo as a Joe...

You know if Hasbro has released that Rocky figure 9 out of 10 kids would of used him as Rambo anyway.

  3. I don't really think it matters WHO gets it. The only consideration, I think, is Hama. He's been significnatly connected to G.I. Joe. If the comic goes to Marvel, would he be connected? Whether he is or not, an ENTIRELY new team of writers would be attached to it. And those writers will have their own ideas on the subject. In other words, it makes no difference if it goes to Marvel OR IDW.

The question, then, is what KIND of book? If its a continuation, does it follow DDP? Ignore it and go back to Marvel (especially if it goes to Marvel)? If it is (a continuation) we can only hope they are true to the original line (I don't believe DDP was so much).

If its a revamp/relaunch/reboot, then what? Personally, I think this is the best way to go. It worked, from what I understand, well with the various Ultimate titles, for example.

I'd like to see marvel doing if not only for the possibilities of crossovers with Marvel characters. I'm sick of G.I. Joe/Transformers crossovers. How about G.I. Joe/Captain America or G.I. Joe/SHIELD?

Ironically, Tansformers did that in like issue 4 with Spiderman. I always thought that was bizarre.

And that having been said, would that mean, since G.I. Joe and Transformers crossed over, then Spiderman can too?

Didn't that exact same issue have the Transformers fighting army tanks that looked suspiciously like MOBATs?

  4. I think picking up where the Marvel continuity left off would be an insult to those who worked on the Devil's Due books. I think it would probably be simpler to just continue the book from the Marvel/Devil's Due continuity. If they were to restart it from scratch I feel we would just end up having to sit through the Serpentor Saga, the Snake-Eyes/Storm Shadow Drama, etc. all over again. I'd much rather see some original stories. Besides we don't need a "Crisis On Infinite Joes". It's confusing enough with the comic/cartoon differences.

  5. I was under the impression (from what I remember) Rocky WAS going to be in the Joe-verse as a Joe and Big Boa was going to be his arch-nemesis on Cobra. Something happened with Rocky and it fell through, but they kept Big Boa.

That is correct. There was a Rambo cartoon series and action figure line out at the time and there was an issue of using his likeness on another military themed figure. A bio for him did make it into an issue of G.I. JOE: Order of battle however but was retracted in the next issue.

  6. Hardball is dead?

And I am a ##$%$# for Falcon. Inexcusable that this character keeps getting the shaft. Why is it that Hasbro has acknowledged that guys like Firefly and Beach Head have cult followings but turn a blind eye to the Falcon fans?

  7. Eh, I stopped reading when the guy declared that Falcon sucks. And Duke in his Boys Scouts of America uniform was better?

Your telling me that the MOVIE VERSION of Falcon didn't suck?

Yeah, that's right. What did he do wrong? Let Zarana in who was dressed as a civillian? Didn't that happen to the other Joes about 25 times with the Baroness? The only difference is in the normal series they ignored this but in the movie they made a big deal out of it.

  8. How is Grunt a "Senior Ranking Officer"? With that said I'm glad we are getting a Grunt but I'm still not liking that Duke figure. Not sure what to think about that Hawk. To me it looks like yet another chapter in the confusion that is the "Is that Duke or Hawk?" saga. I think I prefer the one from the comic pack.

Can't say I like the crimson set. Not liking the Crimson Guard Officer's colors. besides, IMO all Seigies are officers anyway. As for the other Cobra set . . . . looks like they were going for cartoon colors with that Officer and Trooper (white straps). Nothing special about the blue Cobra Commander though i do like that he doesn't have those damn red stripes around his gloves. At this rate I am going to have to get 3 Cobra Commander figures and frankenstein them together until I get the definitive version I want.

I just want the Grunt and maybe the Blue Shirts.
