  1. Okay, I first noticed that Wave 7 had been available in stores nearly 2 months ago. I had been waiting ever since to get my hands on any of them. Well, today is my birthday, so I decided to make a stop at Walmart...just to check. Well, lo and behold, WAVE 7!! Not only that, they were in "bonus packs," some with Wave 6. For example, they had the Lady Jave vs Iron Grenadier pack packaged with the Cross Fire vs C.L.A.W.S. Commander pack. Or the Kamkura vs Night Creeper pack packaged with the Big Brawler with Gun Station pack. They also had vehicle bonus packs with the mission disk figures. For example, the Tread Fire (with Coils) pack packaged with Firefly (with Mission Disk). Each package was $9.96. Needless to say, I spent $100 as a gift from my mother (she gave me money as a birthday present and this is what I spent it on). Now, all I need to do is wait for Wave 8, hopefully including the Tele-Viper pack.
  2. I would think that's a good sign. Not much longer...
  3. This is probably gonna get a lot of "no," but has anyone received the mail in figures yet?
  4. The funny thing is they already have several "enhanced" Cobra agents. Hydro-Viper, Neo-Viper, Moray. I don't think this "mutant" Cobra thing would be too bad an idea...if they do it right. Like Spy Troops. Snap on "mutant" accessories so that they don't HAVE to be used.
  5. Thanks. the Joe newsgroup I was on is going cold and someone invited me here.
  6. There was discussion about incorporating new articulaiton into the figures. So, if we could only get 1 standard (ie. on all figures), what would it be? 1) Wrists. 2) Thighs. 3) Rotating Ankles. 4) Swivel Ankles (like Firefly). I would say wrists.
  7. I agree. Just take it back and say the light never worked. I bet you will see it on the shelf again a couple of days later anyway.
  8. I've got TWO states to shop for G.I. Joe (southern New Mexico and west Texas) . Joesightings.com has listed Wave 7 as appearing two months ago and I still have yet to see it. I'm kinda upset that Wave 8 is already appearing when so many people still have yet to see Wave 7 in anyway. I decided that if I don't see Wave 7 by October, I would probably order online. Anyone know a good (ie. cheap) site? I've seen a site listing Lady Jave vs Iron Grenadier as $12!
  9. I've bought some of the BBI stuff and I'm NOT impressed. G.I. Joe might be somewhat gimmicky with the "sound attack" and Spy Troops stuff, but G.I. Joe is one of the most famous toy brands out there. About the only thing good about the BBI stuff is the weapons packs. The figures have nice articulation in the feet, but that's about it. The arm articulation is terrible! One of the arms broke off a figure the second day I had him. Other parts came off (heads and arms) but could be reattached. Never really had to worry about that with Joe. The vehicles LOOK great. But they are too small. You have to literally cram the figures into the vehicles and good luck getting them back out.
  10. Yeah, that's annoying. They could just use pictures of the toys themselves like they did earlier. What bugs me is the fact that in the 80's the vehicles came with special figures. To get the figure, one has to buy the vehicle. Now, they just repackage figures out at the same time with the vehicles. Cobra vehicles are okay (Neo-Viper, etc.) but do we really need Gung-Ho with the Assault Quad or Wild Bill with the Missile Storm, for example? And, on a related note, there have been literally HUNDREDS of characters in Joe history, yet look how many times they reuse the SAME figures over and over. Sure, Snake Eyes is one of the most popular figures, but do we really need SIXTEEN versions of him! There were FIVE version in 2002 alone! That's 30 PERCENT! Not to mention 2 more in 1997 and 2 in 2003. Storm Shadow has 10 (11 since we KNOW an O-ring version is coming), Shipwreck 7, Destro 10, Duke 12, Dusty 8 (4 of them in 2002!), and Cobra Commander FOURTEEN!

What do you all think of the 2 pack idea they've been using. Personally, I liked the old way with individually carded figures. Now, in order to build an army, I have to have a pile of Recondos, Wet Suits, etc. thrown into the closet.
  12. I saw this and was NOT impressed, at least from the stand point of the box. First of all, Cobra needs a good solid base (The Terror Drome! Yeah!). G.I. Joe got, technically, THREE bases since 1982. Cobra got the Terror Drome in 1986 and this in 2003. But in this case, one of the "features" is to capture the base and turn it into a G.I. Joe outpost. Say what? Am I the only one that thinks that is a sutpid idea? Should have called it the Cobra Mole Hill Playset. Basing my view on the box with the figures shown in the picture, this thing is TINY. Cobra Commander's "throne" takes up a third of the base, just above the door. And what are those "guns racks" molded to the sides? Isn't THAT idiotic. At least the Cobra Sniper Range from the 80's came with actual guns. Like I said, what Cobra needs is a REAL base. Something with actual ladders/elevators to get to the top floors. This thing doesn't appear to have such conveniences. I guess they just float up to the top parts of the base or something. Hell, I would have bought the G.I. Joe Headquarters reissue from last year done in "Cobra" colors before this thing. Granted, the box art is not always indicative of what the actual product looks like. But in this case it is close enough.
  13. Ironically, there IS an "action attack" figure in the JvC line - Slice. Slice wasn't TOO bad a figure...if you don't mind a guy who stands with his arm in the air all the time. The only other Ninja Force figures I picked up were Scarlett (since it was the only redo of the figure at the time) and Night Creeper. Scarlett is terrible. She looks like a middle age housewife. Now she stays in the toy box. Night Creeper isn't too bad. I use him as the Night Creeper Leader. As I understand it the "action attack" feature is just for the vehicles (Patriot Grizzly, Ringneck, etc.). I can't imagine them using it for the figures again. But until we actually see it, who cares? Of course, if we complain to Hasbro loud enough about it, we might NEVER see it...
