  1. I think I said it before, but I highly doubt they are going to do ANY new sculpts of the Baroness or Tunnel Rat or any of the other characters who have already received new sculpts that are slated for Waves 9 and 10. Why would they? It is more expensive to create a brand new mold of a character that just came out a few months earlier. The only times we've seen that are the transfer from T-Crotch to O-Ring and Cobra Commander. I think THAT is because the new CC sucked so they had to do a second one. I think the reason the general view is somewhat negative of the wave 9 and 10 line ups is that half of them are repaints, for starters. Next, we have eight NEW characters without ANY idea of who/what they are. Lastly, we have only 2 confirmed new sculpts of RAH characters (Alley Viper and Viper). Alpine Summit MIGHT be RAH Alpine, but even so that only makes 3. Not speaking for everyone, but I myself would have liked to have seen a few more RAH new sculpts and, of course, fewer repaints. Maybe 8 of each (8 repaints, 8 RAH new sculpts and 8 new characters).
  2. Yes, I have both. I can tell you straight up that the Cobra Mountain is better than the HQ reissue. I like both, but the Mountain is set up much better to be a "base" playset than the HQ. It has a bigger jail, bigger main entrance doors (that actually look like a main entrance, unlike the HQ), taller tower (yup.. taller), a landing pad (which the HQ does not), 4 separate missile defense pieces (same as the HQ), parameter battlefield defense details (barb wire, etc) same as the HQ (sandbags), thrown room, console area, and large main floor.. capable of holding WELL more figures that the main floor of the reissue HQ. To boot it has a platform that extends out from the second floor thrown room area.. awesome for a set-up where CC oversees the operations below, etc. About the only thing that I can think of that the HQ has that the CM doesn't is electronics (sounds & a light)... but then again the HQ originally went for about $55 to $58.. which is about $5 to $8 more than the CM. Listen, I am not telling anyone to buy it who doesn't want to. You don't want to? Fine. Cool. But I CAN tell you that you'd be missing out. Especially a guy like you who likes the reissue HQ (which MANY people do not.. though I am not one of them).. this base is easily in the same "coolness" category as the HQ, & actually a step above. you asked for a review, there ya go. Thanks. I do appreciate it. How many figures can the Mountain hold? The Joe headquarters had room for a lot of figures on it. Of course, that really isn't an indication of much. But from what I've seen picture wise of each, the Mountain doesn't look like it holds very many. Regardless, I think I might end up getting it. I thought I bought a Terror Drome from somebody online, but I seem to have gotten ripped off instead. My bad luck. Which means I still need a Cobra base. So, if Wave 8 or any of the new vehicles (Ringneck, etc.) Or the Alternators don't arrive in the next couple of weeks, I probably will get it.
  3. How come the "desert" coyote is green? Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Clutch's right hand is a little loose from the wrist? But yeah, I like it. I'm considering buying a few more, which is something I don't normally do with Joe vehicles.
  4. you hear that hasbro, dont let me down . ALL i've ever asked for was a new Serpentor in the new battle armor, ok well its not all i've asked for , but bring it on. @firedevil@ Heh, I wuldn't be surprised if it was the Cobra Commander in battle armor with Serpentor's hood and cape put on.
  5. Well, as I see it, it is supposed to be a major playset, isn't it? The original Joe Headquarters and Terror Drome could hold LOTS of figures, as could the new Joe Headquarters. But this, doesn't look of that value for that price. I bought the reissue Joe headquarters and I think I got my money's worth compared to the Cobra Mountain. That's why I asked if anyone actually bought one for a better comparsion. Apparently nobody here has...yet.
  6. Something else that was better with the 80s line. I picked up the Desert Coyote and Patriot Grizzly and the "blueprints" are really lame. Remember the 80s vehicles how the blueprints would give ACTUAL information about the vehicles, even if it was just made up stuff? V.A.M.P. (82) 1) Off-road tires on alloy wheels 2) Urethane fender flares 3) Concealed aidkit and toolbox 4) 4-Wheel disc brakes 5) 4-Wheel independent suspension 6) 4-Wheel drive 7) 4.8 liter v-12 fuel-injected twin-turbo engine Range: 550 miles Top Speed: 140 mph 8) Fiberglass hood canopy 9) Hood hold-down pins 10) Heat extractors 11) Heavy-duty winch 12) Tow bar 13) Halogen headlamp with electric defroster 14) Machine gun - 7.62 mm/computer controlled 15) Canon ventilator intakes 16) Roll cage 17) Bullet proof gas cans 18) Tow hook But, of course we have a steady lack of creativity: Blockbuster (94) 1) Double-barrel pom pom cannon 2) Auto-feeding, 10-shot rocket chamber 3) All-terrain arctic tires (6) 4) Anti-aircraft gun (2) 5) Front-mounted gatling gun (4) 6) Heat-seeking rockets (10) 7) Opening armored hatch covers (2) Which leads to this: Desert Coyote (03) 1) Rotating gunner station with weapon sounds 2) Missile-firing launcher 3) Engine sounds 4) Front gun
  7. Well, I was being a little bit sarcastic. Sorry. Been hanging out here and the usenet board a lot and that is the feel I sometimes get. That some people just want to see the same 5 or 6 characters redone over and over and over. See, there were some of the newbies you liked, some you did not. Some people say they ALL suck. But the line wouldn't last without them I don't think. Maybe the "Gadget" or Hi-Tech or whatever they end up calling him won't be so bad. We didn't exactly get a good profile of him from the movie because he IS a newbie. More character development for the "core" characters otherwise the fans will raise holy hell. Means less characterization for the newbies.
  8. To answer you're first question, I'll have to wait and see how Wave 9 shapes up. To answer you're second question . . . uhhhh . . . where should I begin??? Actually, I won't crap up this thread with all that (I could go on for a couple of pages) but if you really want to know I can PM you. Start a new thread? It would probably be an interesting discussion for all of us here.
  9. I think it has something to do with the flood of toys as well. They made toys for all five movies at the same time. Not to mention doing "specialized" figures that appeared in a single scene. Things like that. Where I live, Star Wars figures take up a LOT of space on the toy shelves, particularly at Walmart and TRU. Not to mention the fact that the 2 prequels weren't as good as the others.
  10. I remember that. Vypra came with all of Jinx's equipment in the Rattler 4WD.
  11. Or they want stupid people to buy this ugly set. @grumpy@ Heh, makes me wonder. Does anyone know how much the original Star Wars version ran for when it was out?
  12. Still waiting for Wave 8 here. Hopefully not much longer. The thing about Heavy Water is that he doesn't necessarily HAVE to come with a weapon. He could just as easily have some equipment like the Toxo-Viper.
  13. You like that? The only other choice would be to try and switch out the lower arms and legs of the BTR figures for tab-less arms/legs.
  14. Ah, I see. What's wrong with the new characters? Some of the people on the boards seem to imply that the line should just consist of wave after wave of Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander and the Baroness. Why bother with putting out new characters or giving new sculpts to old characters? They all suck anyway, right? Wave 7: Duke vs Cobra Commander Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow Scarlett vs Baroness Heavy Duty vs Viper Lady Jaye vs Iron Grenadier Wave 8: Duke vs Cobra Commander Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow Scarlett vs Baroness Heavy Duty vs Viper Lady Jaye vs Iron Grenadier Wave 9: Duke vs Cobra Commander Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow Scarlett vs Baroness Heavy Duty vs Viper Lady Jaye vs Iron Grenadier ad nauseum....
  15. Wow, already 25% off? Guess this thing isn't selling to well.
  16. Not sure. I don't THINK it is a TRU exclusive. What would be cool is getting it at KB with that 30% off thing they are supposed to be doing. Might ACTUALLY considering getting it in that case.
  17. Heh, your opinion. Getting tired of seeing him so much. My opinion. Of course, that stems from the fact that I try to make use of ALL the figures in my collection and having 4 Snake-Eyes lying around unused kinda dampens that attempt.
  18. Hasbro spending so much on Star Wars may have changed their opinion on this matter. @hmmm@ Draven #US1# Well, the chose to go berserk with the Star Wars stuff. Man, that stuff just clutters the shelves. It isn't just "spending money to make money" it is knowing where/how to spend it.
  19. Well, it doesn't REALLY matter. Not like we have a choice, eh? It just kinda made the vehicle a little more special. Crankcase WAS the driver of the A.W.E. Striker. Steam Roller WAS the driver of the Mobile Command Center. Now, any old jerk can drive the vehicle apparently.
  20. Well, is the picture the EXACTLY what we will get when he arrives? They do put the notice that product/colors in the publcity photos may differ from the actual product/colors. He may have the symbol yet. And yeah, it sucks having to wait 2 months for them to arrive. But on the upside, I know he's coming. I waited 2 months for Wave 7 and started doubting whether I would EVER see it.
  21. Actually, it was 3 molds. Versions 10 and 11 were the T-crotch, version 12 was a repaint of version 3 and versions 13 and 14 were the new sculpt O-Ring versions. That's a bit much for one character. I was talking about 2002, only had 2 mold's, I doubt many kid's got the Toyfare SE and Scarlett 2pack. Alot of the kid's today don't have SE v1, v2, v3, v4, v5 Etc. The toyfare and Scarlett packs came out in 2003. The 3rd Snake Eyes out in 2002 (version 12) was the exclusive BJ's Wholesale Club and Fred Meyes. The 12 pack that also included Dial Tone, Roadblock, Wet-Suit, Fast Blast Viper, Firefly, Storm Shadow, and Undertow. Thus, I can imagine many children actually getting this toy. Regardless, that is still a LOT of versions of ONE character to be out so close together.
  22. Well, if you plan on buying G.I. Joe, you are going to end up having to buy repaints in order to get the "new" characters/molds. If you hadn't noticed, Hasbro packages a repaint with a new figure in nearly every package. So does that mean your not going to buy G.I. Joe anymore? So, what's wrong with the new sculpts that they suck so much?
  23. Looks more like Cobra Mountain Out of a Molehill Playset. Has anyone actually bought this thing yet? $50 at TRU is a lot of money...
  24. Heh, just ask a neighbor or friend to take the delivery for you.
