  1. I think the anime influence is there for a reason. I smell a cartoon in the works. And yes, there are many similiarities between Joe and MGS. There's never been much of a resemblance in their toys until now. At least to me. Wraith, maybe. And I'm sure there's others who feel there are some more. But overall, no. I have stopped to consider how Joe influenced MGS. I think alot of folks are saying MGS has influenced Joe because people really see that and feel that way. MGS solid might have copied Joe, but none of the toys looked like Joe. Now, after MGS is "there" 2010 Joe is looking like MGS. That's where people are getting that. Nothing against you, but I can't really buy the fact that Hasbro didn't at least have this in mind when they designed these. (Gundam, Mech, MGS) MGS is nice. And these are some nice figures. Nothing I really dig here because I don't feel the need to collect anything that resembles MGS, Mech or Gundam. If I did, I would probably buy those to begin with. I come to Joe for Joe. I never cared for BF 2000, Space Marines or Mega Marines, or any of the wacky stuff. I liked the military aspect of it all. And now, it's turning away from that again, I've lost interest again. I like Sci-Fi. I like Star Wars, Star Trek and BSG. But I like things that seem to me to belong in that universe to stay there and Joe keep its look. I don't like mixing them. And that's where I think the problem is. Nevermind that Hasbro doesn't want to listen to the collectors who were the entire buying base of Joe related product 2007-2009, but they are using it as a vessel combining many other universes and rolling it all into one. They are losing many of it's roots and in the long run, I don't think that's a wise decision. People have always went to G I Joe because it was military. Sure, the cartoon was wacky here and there, and there was Battle Force 2000. For the most part, the toys and the comic were military themed. When it went out in space with crazy themes, it lost steam. Hasbro has forgotten that or they think it will be different this time. Maybe it will. Hasbro doesn't have to be in a no-win situation with the older collector branch. They could make some more classics. Most of them would be cobbled from existing parts and could be as customizers have shown so they aren't going to have to go all out to make some. Maybe some heads. Sell them online is what people say. Put them in multiple packs. 5, 7 or 10. Thanks for your comments and understand I'm not trying to debate with you or argue my opinions with yours. Just my feelings.
  2. I can only speak for myself. The answer is no. And none of those characters you mentioned with their current designs would have "walked across the screen for 2 seconds in Resolute" nor would they come out on 25th/Resolute cardbacks. Because they aren't 25th, nor are they Resolute. They are a mixture of Gundam, Metal Gear Solid and Mech. I know you like to "debate" with everyone on all the forums you participate on, but I'm not attempting to do that with you. You asked a question and I gave my answer. The new stuff looks nice. And it's come a long way since 5-pack Baroness 2 years ago. But for me personally, if I want any of those things that Joe is attempting to mirror, I'll buy those. It's losing what is unique to it, and I'm not so sure that can be a good thing for the long haul.
  3. Nice collection you have there. I was always a fan of Blanka and Thunder Hawk.
  4. Yeah, Wampa crossed my mind. I bet Yoda will be played by the old perverted man who did Obi-Wan. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I wish I could get that poster added to my sig, that would rock.
  5. JoeCon has come and gone. Everything we have seen coming for RoC is all we're going to see for that line. Starting 2010, it's going to be Pursuit of Cobra and the first few lines are geared to extreme weather conditions, Duke in Jungle, Duke in Arctic, Duke in Desert, etc. So no RoC Jinx, Hardmaster or Dr. Mindbender. I did hear that the two kids were going to be made but I wonder if Hasbro changed their mind. They seemed to change their mind on alot of things. They said more "classics" would come in the RoC line and first of all no more are coming except the Walmart exlusives and the RoC line is over in Jan. Hasbro also mentioned plans for exclusives of Dial Tone and Lowlight, but no word on them at Joecon either. I'm sure the Hasbro defenders would be happy to tell me that there is a possibility we will see some of this stuff in later 2010 or early 2011, but I'm not going to let Hasbro bait me anymore telling me to stick around and buy what's out to support the line and next year we might see what we want. I'll buy a DialTone, Cover Girl and Lowlight if they don't look vastly different from what they looked like to me and everyone else who bought them in the 80's. Updated, sure. But not completely redone like RoC Cobra Commander or Vipers. Until then, more power to Hasbro and the people who like it and I'll keep my dough.
  6. Lol! I am looking forward to this and can't wait to see it! The first one was great, but I have a feeling the force will be this one and it will be even better. Any ideas on who Meg will be? Jabba? Yoda?
  7. You need a second job to buy toys these days, lol. @$@ @$@ @$@
  8. I'd like to see some MASK myself as well. Sato, Sector, Hayes and McLean were my favorites.
  9. For the toys, what Johnny Reb said. If you are looking for a site for Ghostbusters in general: http://www.ghostbusters.com/
  10. From what I understand it's some pretty nice stuff with good quality. I was eyeing the Templar, Knight and Samurai.
  11. I heard the Eel mold was gone. I think anymore then and now sets we will see will feature the main characters from the movie. Duke, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Scarlett, Destro and Baroness. Unless of course some of those molds are already gone and have rotted away/been lost. I seem to recall reading somewhere a couple of years ago that the Destro mold was on a ship that sunk and the mold is somewhere on the bottom of the ocean?
  12. Conan and Thundercats would be cool. I think the monsters would be too but I am not sure I would buy them. How about some MASK stuff? Matt Trakker was done last year and I think the concept didn't go over as well as Hasbro had hoped. Someone asked them in a Q&A if there were anymore MASK stuff planned and they said no. But that was a Joe line and people wanted Joe not MASK. There are plenty of MASK fans who bought up Trakker and would like to see a new line. I think they would incorporate well with Star Wars, Marvel and Joe. They even have transforming vehicles. I see people wanting a TF/Joe crossover. Give the Joes transforming vehicles and people might be satisfied for now. I think if they do MASK though it needs to be it's own line however.
  13. Yeah, I think so. I think theres a lot of "Gundam" too. RoC reminded me of Star Gate. Hasbro is definately trying to find a niche for Joe in today's world.
  14. I preferred Dial Tone over Breaker as my communications man. Key word was man.
  15. Heavy Duty was one of the ones I liked in the movie. I didn't care for the movie overall, but I liked his peformance along with Baroness and Breaker. Those toys are a different story for me. The one in the green, every one I saw had eyes painted in the back of his head like he was possessed. It also reminded me of a toy from the Jurassic Park line. Just missing some miniature velociraptor or something. Reactive Armor looked much better, but still nothing worth bragging about. I think there is a desert version coming in 2010. There is no Paris Pursuit figure coming. I would have liked one of those myself.
  16. Mechs just aren't my thing. I didn't see anything at JoeCon that I found myself interested in. They're nice figures, but nothing I want.

    ROC vs 25th

Thanks Valdin. But if people like Arrow are going to make it feel like Hisstank.com then I won't be around longer.

    ROC vs 25th

GIJOE is military fantasy. The original RAH toy-line had a healthy dose of science fiction to it, in all its aspects. No it didn't. The Defiant Shuttle came out in 1987, smack in the middle, and height of the line. Serpentor, the Stellar Stiletto and stuff like BattleForce 2000 came out around the same time. The COBRA-LA stuff was introduce in 1987. Sorry, I disagree. I think its some of the fans that are missing the point of what GIJOE has long been about. Remember, GIJOE.....as a toy-line isn't a "dialogue"--its a "monologue". GIJOE hasn't evolved because of the fans, its evolved because of the product that Hasbro has created and sold to fans. Hasbro has had a better handle on the toy-line and what they want from the toy-line than any of us. See what I mean? By the way, I was referring to the Mega Marines and Star Brigade in 1994 before the line died. Yes, the Defiant came in 1987. So did Cobra La. So did Battle Force 2000. That was also you will note when many fans left the franchise and lost interest. I'm not missing the point about G I Joe. The Term G I is an American term and it means an American soldier. Hama penned it and the whole concept was about guys in a special operations detachment, most of who had a connection with each other. They were former Vietnam vets and military grunts. It was when Hasbro decided to introduce space, cobra la and battleforce 2000 that many kids left it. It was when Hasbro did Mega Marines, Star Brigade, neon colors and everyone was a ninja that the line died. And as far as them having a better handle on the toy line, if that was correct, Valor vs Venom, Joe vs Cobra and Sigma Six would still be around. And ARAH wouldn't have died in 1994-5. So basically what you are telling me is I have no clue what I am talking about. Hasbro knows what I really want and I missed the point of Joe entirely. To the OP. This was what I meant in my first post in this thread. We're all outdated and have no clue about the real deal. Thanks Arrow. It's guys like you and people at Hisstank and Terrordrome.com that make talking about Joe a real pleasurable experience.

    ROC vs 25th

That's the question I have as well. My beef with them is not that they are making new stuff, it's why aren't they making stuff for all of it's fans and buying base? Hasbro knows there are a great number of people who are not crazy for the RoC stuff and would prefer to see the "classics" line continue. I think you answered your own question though. Mismanagement and people just didn't care. The design team didn't want to do stuff that was "stuck in the 80's" and wanted to branch out. So they are taking a little from Star Wars, Star Gate, Iron Man and now Gundam it appears. Their line or reasoning lies with their hard line stance that Joe hasn't proven itself like Star Wars. So it can't have multiple toy lines. Well, true. But how can it prove itself if not given the proper chance? Do a RoC line and do a classics line. We'll see in the end which one sustains and proves itself. I'm not being snarky and saying just wait and see and I'll show you, I'm being honest and saying give it all a chance and let's all see together what makes and what breaks. I think Hasbro is trying to find a niche for Joe to fit in into today's world. Resolute was fine with me. I think they are missing the entire point of Joe. Joe is military. If you want to see superheros you've got Iron Man, Spider Man, Batman and X-Men. If you want to see something with a Sci-Fi/Fantasy element to it you have Star Wars, Transformers, BSG, and Star Gate. The point is, if that is what you like you won't have a hard time finding something that suits you. Why the need to change it and mirror it with some other universe? I liked Joe for what it was. G I Joe. Military men and women fighting terrorists both at home and abroad. It was different, it was unique. In a time when everyone was a superhero or using light sabers or flying in space Joe was on the ground in the bush protecting America and the world from terrorists. Sure, they went into space and the cartoon had some wacky elements. But all that space stuff happened in the toyline just before the line died. Because Hasbro had forgotten what had made it unique and now 25 years later they are doing the same thing. I just don't think everyone on the design team or everyone at Hasbro appreciates Joe for what it is. Doesn't make their opinions any less valid or make them less of a fan. It just means that they are missing the point of what Joe is really about. The 25th line was originally slated to be 25 figures. Waves 1-3 and the two 5 packs. 25 Joes for 25 years as a nod to the collectors and old fans. But then it blew up into something bigger than they could imagine. It went from 25 figures to something that lasted 2 years. (And it would still be going strong right now if they were still making them.) Joe was hot and it was selling. There wasn't a cartoon, there wasnt a comic, but it was selling because of all of the grown ups who played with them nearly 30 years ago found themselves as kids once again and buying up Joe. All of the G I Joe fan forums sprung to life overnight and membership increased greatly. The thing with RoC is, there's alot of people out there who want to defend it. It's got some good things in it, but it's not my thing. And it hasn't proven itself in the long term yet. 25th line lasted 2 years. Then and only then if it happens can RoC be considered superior to the classics line. As far as having the toys, I have TRU exclusive Firefly and couple other. He's cool. I don't play with my Joes, just display them. He's displayed there with the others and he's got some neat accessories. I still prefer the CP version with Storm Shadow in the end though. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I hope you don't get hammered for it. Guys like you and me are considered old school and out of touch lol.
  20. It's a custom. No one from Hasbro ever said that. In fact, a lot of fans, myself included, saw the writing on the walls when Hasbro got shut out of stores for the first half of 2009, and Resolute got dumped onto the Net over a week's time with practically no build-up. Resolute was supposed to bolster the 25th line for the first half of this year, with the movie taking over in the summer. WalMart and Target seem to have refused this plan, and Hasbro was left with a lot of brand new molds and nowhere to produce them. So first we're getting a lot of them, re-purposed as ROC figures (City Strike Snakes and Scarlett, Jungle Storm Shadow, and the Walmart 2-pack Roadblock)... and Hasbro's thrown out the idea of doing a boxed set of the molds in their proper Resolute colors next year. But Resolute as a line, and the cartoon, are dead in the water. They were supposed to be Hasbro's big pre-movie push, and got derailed by the stores not wanting a flood of pre-movie merchandise taking up space. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure in the latest Hasbro Q&A, it was confirmed that Resolute would come in 2010 as an exclusive set. We must also keep in mind that most product is shown here up until Feb 2010. I hope I am not missing something and that is in fact just 2 months of product into the year. Though, and I am using memory here I do think I saw something that said 4/2010. However, it would have been nice to see any Resolute or even classics that Hasbro has planned for next year. With that said, I am not looking forward to any of the product shown thus far. Beachhead is cool, but do I really need another one?
  21. I have seen the PP SE with black wolf several times in the wild. I have never seen a grey wolf. It's my understanding that the black one is the rare one. The figure itself just doesn't do anything for me. I have considered picking up one just because it's a rare variant. But I think even so, there will still be alot of them since this is a movie line of toys. Just my 2 cents.
  22. I have a few and like what I have, but I am far from buying up the entire line. Just 4 and don't see myself getting anymore. They aren't selling here. I would've hoped and thought that after the movie hit the theaters they would have, but alas, no they are not.
