  1. Hmmm... Hal without his mask on? This is tripping my spider-sense regarding this movie.
  2. I'm surprised DC Direct has lasted this long and I'm REALLY surprised if it has indeed survived this latest round of fat-trimming DC has undergone recently. How can you survive selling three-hundred dollar batarangs? These over-priced doodads are probably directly responsible for killing more than a few comic shops. I know my local shop would order one or two three hundred dollar pieces of Kryptonite or bottled cities of Kandor, display it in the store and then unload it two years later marked down at a bloody discount. And what pervert is buying those tacky statues of female DC characters in provocative poses? Nothing says "family friendly" like have Catwoman as a stripper adorning the local comic shop. If you buy one of these things, you shouldn't be allowed to be within a hundred yards of a school.
  3. These LOOK really cool ... right down to the faux-faded retro packaging... but for twenty bucks, they aren't THAT cool. The price alone was enough to keep me from biting on these. Then all those horror stories about QC came out and that just nailed the coffin shut for me. I'm glad to hear Mattel is fixing this but it might be too little too late to save this line. All I ever see are tons of Sinestros and Luthors that haven't moved since they were first put up on their pegs.
  4. Let's see how they ruin the costume for this one.
  5. Anyone who believes that Mattel would invest in a five-pack like this that doesn't have a heavy duty anchor like Superman, Batman, or Green Lantern in it is absolutely kidding themselves. Most of these pipe dream wish lists sound like some little kid's letter to Santa Claus. If you're going to legitimately try to predict Mattel, you have to think CHEAP! What is the cheapest way they can do this? Wally West and Professor Zoom? Okay. That's possible. Very cheap to do. A lot of these other pie-in-the-sky long shots I see being floated around here? Not a chance.
  6. Oh! And TWENTY-FOUR BUCKS for an Infinite Heroes figure? WOW! This thing might just end up being a trophy commemorating a really lousy movie! How many people have Superman Returns figures on their shelves?
  7. Yeesh! This thing looks like a handful of old seaweed. I can't believe in the preciously limited slots of the GL Classics line, we're getting THIS over so many other characters!
  8. The wording of those poll choices is a mess. As much as I love the 25th Anniversary Line, I'd prefer to see more characters revisited in POC style. I'd love to see Major Bludd, Gung Ho, Leatherneck, and the Original 13 revisited in this style. Unfortunately, we're doomed to get figures based on the animated series with a new POC fig thrown in every now and then.
  9. Good Lord! That thing is UGLY!!!!
  10. "The end" came as soon as this line hit the ground. It's a shame, but this thing was poorly executed every step of the way. Undoubtedly, Mattel will blame this line's failure on "a lack of support from the fans."
  11. If they're hellbent on giving us these lousy figures, I prefer they do so this way. This way, I can ignore the entire wave all at once and I don't have to hold my nose and buy a tacky looking Loincloth Atom for seventeen bucks just to get Elasti-Girl's right leg.
  12. People latch onto that word "Classics" as if it actually meant something. I used to see the same arguments being raised with Marvel Legends. "Hey! X-23 isn't really a Legend!" It doesn't matter. It's just a name. When did Cyborg Superman or Imperiex become "Classics?" I really hate this wave and consider it an awful idea, but the last complaint I would raise against it is that these characters don't qualify as "Classics." This wave really smacks of corporate rebranding and makes me wonder if that rumor about DC's decree that all future figures be based off the modern comics isn't true. "Hey! Blackest Night is a hit! We should make Blackest Night Figures!" Well, a "hit" nowadays is really based on diminished expectations. Blackest Night sold well... but only compared to how current comic books sell. Blackest Night sold around a hundred thousand copies. Is that the market pool this wave is aimed at? How many of that hundred thousand are action figure buyers? Maybe a good number, but how many of those action figure buyers will buy THESE figures? How many will spend fifteen to seventeen bucks on a figure? How many will buy the WHOLE wave? This wave is really aiming at a narrow niche market of what is already a narrow niche market! I already see A LOT of "Passes" being voiced on the message boards. Now I know a lot of people were rejecting the Green Lantern five pack when that was first shown but then everyone bought it up when they turned up, but I don't know if the same will hold true for this wave. It just seems like a wave no one really wanted. Even the Blackest Night fans seem to have wanted many, many OTHER figures before ever getting these. For me, I think they're pretty gaudy designs and I didn't embrace Blackest Night enough to want these figures on my shelf. I'd rather have the hundred and twenty or so bucks that this wave will cost.
  13. Thirty-seven bucks and change for this huge waste! Yeah. The Buyer's Remorse is definitely settling in! For those thirty seven bucks you get... 1. A shiny Hal Jordan that no one asked for and no one wants. This thing will get chucked to the back of a shelf where I'll forget I own it within about ten minutes. 2. A bunch of junky repainted accessories. I'm surprised Mattel didn't paint He-Man's sword yellow and throw it in. 3. An apology Sinestro that they should've gotten right the first time! Overall, I really, really wanted a good Sinestro, but even so, I couldn't recommend this set. Definitely not a good buy for your money.
  14. Oof! Of all the crazy rumored line-ups to be true, it had to be THIS one???? Yeesh! Of all the DCUC waves yet, this is the first complete pass for me. I'm not tempted in the slightest by anything here. The Anti-Monitor is nice but nothing I could live without. The GOOD news here is that at least they have a the parts now to give us a good Scarecrow. I also wouldn't mind seeing that Luthor repainted as well. I sure hope they don't over-produce this wave. This thing has the most niche appeal of an already very niche market yet! "Hey Kids! Who wants an ugly version of a character you've probably never heard of? Well, here's a whole wave of 'em!"
  15. I've pared back on this line A LOT! Mostly this is due to... 1. Single carded figures are hard to find. 2. They're over-priced for what you get. 3. The three-pack scam continues. That being said, I still rolled out for this two-pack and I did so sitting on a fence while holding my nose. Kalibak looks great. Darkseid wasn't really a figure I wanted or needed. I'm happy with the TWO other Darkseids this line has compelled me to buy. Thus this was really a twenty-five dollar Kalibak. I'll probably like the figure and in the long run, I probably won't feel the twenty-five bucks. Bottom line though is this line has really become strictly for the very hardcore JLU enthusiast.
  16. This is the Snake-Eyes I've been waiting for.
  17. You may as well ask, "Who would you like to see in the next Police Academy movie?"
  18. UGH!!! WORST... BREAKER... EVER!!! Now this show is just being insulting.
  19. It may be premature from a fan's point of view, but in terms of business, it's a lot more profitable to rerun a cancelled series than it is to continue producing new episodes of a new cartoon. Warner Bros. seems to like producing enough episodes of a series to put together a syndication package... usually two or three seasons... and then go onto something else. umm....ok, wasn't really talking about the technical/financial details Well, you stated that a show on CN will be cancelled "prematurely." The reason for this is due to those "technical/financial details." Family Guy was resurrected due to its incredible dvd sales.

  21. The common link here is voice casting director Andrea Romano, who's casted just about all of DC's recent animated projects as well as Avatar: The Last Air Bender.
  22. A more in-depth observation... 1. As I alluded above, the GI Joe premise is needlessly complicated here. Wasn't the "Army vs Terrorists" a substantial enough of a concept? Did it really need to be bogged down with this tired fugitive rebel angle? 2. The faces are all heavily stylized and not in a pleasant way. I realize it's a style choice but everyone's features were rough and crude. Facial expressions were limited. 3. I HATE HATE HATE characters... be they GI Joes operatives or super heroes... who hate their own code-names. For much of this, "Scarlett" was an insubordinate slur. 4. Yeah. That's the Ripcord from the movie. Apparently Hasbro is still in denial about Ripcord being the Jar Jar Binks of that film. 5. Snake-Eyes isn't even pretending to be a commando anymore. Now he's just the over-the-top too-cool-to-be-believed super ninja! 6. Phantom of the Opera Cobra Commander. 7. Nice backgrounds. 8. A few nice vehicles I wouldn't mind seeing as toys like the trucks and the choppers. 9. I have no interest in any of these character designs as figures. It's too bad after that great recent POC spurt. 10. Are those Wolverine chops on Roadblock??? Ugh!
  23. I watched the whole thing like a sucker waiting for it to get better.
  24. I went from loving this thing to hating it all within the first ten minutes of the show! 1. A great opening. You have a bunch of cold-themed villains attacking all at once. Batman at one point makes a note that this surely isn't a coincidence. Then this isn't spoken of again. 2. I HATE HATE HATE forced teen-age angst. Speedy has a huge meltdown pretty much because he and the other sidekicks were asked to sit in the waiting room. He not only decides not to join the JLA but quits being Green Arrow's sidekick altogether... and does this right in front of the press! Thus is justified exactly why these kids are treated like kids! 3. Hey, Green Arrow! You sidekick is having a breakdown! Got anything to say? No? 4. I HATE HATE HATE when good guys act in a conspiratorial way that later comes around to bite them on the a$$. Why would the JLA keep their satellite HQ a secret from their own partners! What if they needed their sidekicks in an emergency? Batman: "Robin! Quick! The JLA is being attacked! Get over here!" Robin: "No problem, Batman! I'll round up the other sidekicks and be at the Hall of Justice in five minutes!" Batman: "Umm... about that Hall of Justice... We're really on a satellite in space." 5. Why was Superman made so uncomfortable by his clone to the point of being unable to help the poor kid? It's not like he was caught with an illegitimate son! 6. The JLA doesn't think that the Young Justice team is a good idea but since Young Justice is going to be a team anyway, the JLA decides to back them. Great motivation. Nicely animated, but the writing was very forced. Could've been better and less stupid.
