  1. As far as Fwoosh's size, which isn't really that relevant, their forum says the most people online at the same time was 182, back in July of 2008. While their members may post a lot, that doesn't seem like an outlet reasonably calculated by Mattel to make amends to the people who felt ripped off by not getting the Gleek they thought they were getting. I would have been mighty pissed if I had gotten that set.

And remember, some people had other people waiting in line to hook them up with the set. The person buying the set might not have had any idea about the significance of Gleek. The whole Gleek thing seems to have irritated a lot of fans from start to finish. Presumbably that would be the opposite of good marketing. Mattel really dropped the ball.

  2. So here's the question - when Mattel ran out of the monkies, did they lower the $40 price? 2-packs are usually $25 on Matty, right? Then that's $15 for the monkey. A little steep. You'd think they would have lowered the price if the set was no longer going to include this very rare, and therefore valuable, pack-in.

  3. Just to let everyone know, the GI Joe panel is going to be at 11:30 today. Check the main Toy News page for the live updates. Toy News coverage will begin shortly after the panel starts and new info will be added continuously, so remember to hit refresh.

  4. Funny how marvel once said that the line was dead & canceled because it was far too violent & yet we kept on seeing stuff from it & even new comics today & they have an entire section of there site about the MZ :D

I was thinking the same thing. Marvel said they didn't want spoil their movie star characters by giving people/parents the image of them as felsh-eating zombie. I guess someone decided ticket sales wouldn't be compromised. I mean if fans aren't boycotting Spider-Man movies over Brand New Day or the Clone Saga, why would Spider-Man zombie do it?

  5. I wanted to be on board with IH when I first heard about it, but the character designs are just not exciting. It looks like a so-so kids toy, which is fine, but that means it's not meant for me, an adult collector who wants more. I like detailing and a reasonable amount of poseability. T-crotch's are going to be a deal break. I also want a head that tilts back for flying poses. I'm happy for Mattel if the kids are buying the line, but I want more.

  6. That was a nice custom. It's not a Nazi uniform though, which maybe why Hasbro chose that over a more scale compatible figure from Joe. They obviously have no problem borrowing molds from the Joe department based on what was released in the Hulk movie line.

  7. I bet it's a scam. I bet they only offered like 10 pieces of the new 2 pack just so they could say they sold out, making everyone think they're a hot item and thereby boost future sales. The symbol on Ultraman looks odd and clunky, limiting my interest in getting him.

  8. Supposedly the guy who killed Uncle Ben in Spider-Man 1 (as opposed to the Sandman who killed him SM3) will be back in SM4. Could be a dream sequence, could be he's re-animated or could be he didn't really die. Maybe his back was broken and he needs some kind of special suit to walk. Maybe . . a Scoprian suit. Lizard and Scorpian would be fairly compatible as two villains, since they're both creepy, dangerous and green.

  9. I was just looking at the Red Skull pictures and I'm thinking it should be easy to add a layer to the bottom of his boot, maybe wood, and paint it black. That should make up the height difference to make him look better standing next to Cap.

  10. Personally, I've always enjoyed origin stories, seeing what turned some ordinary person into a super-hero/villain. Batman Begins and Iron Man were just the kind of movies I like. The new Star Trek was also great that way. Yes, I know the stories and characters but for some reason I really like the origin story. Unless they're poorly done, of course, like Wolverine. That was really mediocre. The adamantium amneisa bullet was a great example as to why.

  11. Your Hulk looks very good. Even with the larger scale, he doesn't seem too big next to Iron Man. I haven't painted a figure in a while, but I may give him a shot. TRU seems to still have plenty of movie Hulk stuff.
