  1. Eh, I don't care that much about most of the cars, so I'll stick with Hasbro, since they're cheaper and more readily available. I've got the some Takaras - Megatron, Optimus, Soundwave, Starscream and the Minibots, and I'll be getting the Insecticons and Predaking when he's released. A good, healthy mix! At least Hasbro is STARTING to chrome their weapons and stuff - it seems like they are listening to the fans. Hey Hasbro, release Sunstreaker, please!!!
  2. You'll have to forgive me, I'm not a HUGE TF fan. Even when I was a kid, I missed out on most of the G1 toys, though I always wanted them. I was mostly into GI Joe, but these reissues are great. So far, I have pretty much all of them (except Powermaster Prime, which I have no intention of getting - I had grown out of the TFs by the time he came out originally). So anyway, I'm slowly rediscovering them. I was poking around the internet earlier today, and stumbled across the Omnibots... These always looked really cool, and I totally forgot about them. What do you think the chances are these will get reissued?
  3. I haven't seen any of that stuff here yet. Where in Canada?
  4. Yeah, but it's a Japanese list. They like weird stuff.
  5. I hope so! Sunstorm would be a pretty cool figure...
  6. Thanks gunman... I don't know anything about Gundam - where do you suggest I start?
  7. I'm thinking about customizing my bootleg G1 Devastator. I'm working out the details on possibly getting ball joints on his head and limbs, and replacing his hands with superposable Alternator/MP Prime hands. Does anyone have any ideas or pics that might help compare sizes, etc? I don't have a Unicron - it would help immensely, as would any input, really.
  8. ... bad move Hasbro - finish the rest of the cars first, please!
  9. I agree with him. I probably won't get Ricochet either. Most people buying these want the ones they grew up with, not some Japanese exclusive we never heard about. I'm sure a lot of the collectors on this board will get them, but not the average buyer, and certainly not for the price they're going for.
  10. I'm only getting the Lego - that stuff rocks!!! And sometimes I pick up a 3 3/4 fig, if it's a good sculpt. But I only have a handful of those.
  11. And it looks like a lot of dealers are stubbornly keeping the prices high, too. Bah - I'll wait for the reissue, that's for sure. G1 Sunstreaker was my first TF back when I was a kid - he's the reason I'm buying these reissues!!! I'm laughing every time I see a MISB (or even MIB) Predaking on Ebay for a grand+. Maybe some of these dealers thought they were gonna get a good return for their investment - oh well, them's the breaks. I'm not saying they were suckers for buying it in the first place, but now that a reissue is coming, do they think the rest of us are? I think the TRU reissues are great for collectors - those that want to open 'em (like me) can without paying an arm and a leg, and those that still want the originals MISB will likely get better deals because of it. The dealers won't benefit, but this isn't exactly the most stable market, either. They should have expected it. Man, this is way off topic, isn't it? Sorry...
  12. Is it just me or are G1s with ridiculous prices like this simply not selling?
  13. Well, I checked out the TRU Victoria yesterday and they were still friggin' $39.99!!! I mean, c'mon!!! There are TONS of them, too. We always get ripped off up here... I mean, I'll buy them at that price, but most won't. And I WON'T buy stuff like Ricochet if it costs that much - with me it's the nostalgia factor, plain and simple. Hot Rod was only $29.99 - the rest shouldn't be more just 'cause they have bigger boxes. Too bad it's a TRU exclusive, eh?
  14. MP/20th Anniv. Prime sold well, didn't it? I haven't seen any on the shelves ANYWHERE for a while now. I know Archer said what he said, but if the sales were good, we'll see other MP TFs at some point. Takara's what drive these, anyway. Even if we don't see Hasbro release them here, we should be able to get an MP Megatron and Seekers at some point, I bet.
  15. None in Vic, BC - we've had Sideswipe here for a few weeks, though. Weird.
  16. He's not going to be an Autobot - apparently, any versions you see with the Autobot symbol are prototypes.
  17. The DVD piracy business is going to love George Lucas... a lot of people are gonna want the original laserdisc version on DVD. Oh well, he's not providing people with what they want - he deserves it.
  18. I read this too, but I also read earlier somewhere that Takara plans on doing ALL the original cars from the first two series, which may include Kup and Blurr as well, since they've done Hot Rod. Wasn't Soundwave's mold broken too? I'm still not digging the whole Stepper/Ricochet thing... Hardcore TF collectors might want him, but I don't. A lot of people who are buying these are doing so because of what we had as kids and what we saw in the old cartoons. I'm going to pass on Ricochet until he goes on sale, and maybe not even then...
  19. What about in Canada? Anyone know when it'll start on YTV?
  20. Geez, Canada's taking a long time to get these. I still haven't found Streak, or Hound for that matter.
  21. Hal Jordan Green Lantern... Aquaman, Hawkman... These would be cool. (This goes for the normal JL figures, too.) I think Captain Cold could come with Flash... Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter could come with any number of JL villains, like Ultra Humanite or Kaliban or whatever his name was.
  22. I loved Admiral Ackbar... Funny thing about him, look at Mon Mothma's face in ROTJ as he's briefing the rebels - she looks disgusted by him (I always thought so, anyway). I also liked Wedge, and the Imperial officers as well, like General Veers and Admiral Piett. Eh, I'm in the military - maybe I identify with these characters more than others.
  23. Which one was that? I'll have to look it up. You're right, to a great extent. Every artist looks at his work after he's done, and is rarely satisfied. He or she will see things that could be changed, possibly for the better. An artist has to learn when to stop, because if you keep changing minute details you lose sight of the big picture, and will end up ruining your work. I think this is exactly what is happening with Star Wars. I also think these changes have more to do with money than we think. I'd like to think Lucas was a visionary storyteller, but what he's really good at is marketing. In fact, how many movies has he actually made? I think Star Wars was the last one he directed before The Phantom Menace, and he hasn't really produced that many either. I'm not saying he's a bad director - actually, I think this is still one thing he still excells at - I just think that we'd be naive to think that these recent rehashes are all about his great artistic vision that he wasn't allowed to produce back in the 70s and 80s. What I really hate is when he starts talking about his story for Anakin, that existed even before he made the first film. What a load of crap. But I guess that's another topic...
  24. I'd be happy if Soundwave was in it, and just didn't transform, to be honest. They're much cooler in the bot modes anyway. It was kind of cool when Megatron transformed and Starscream used him to shoot the Autobots... It'd be great if they gave Starscream a weapon that looks like the ol' G1 Megs as a homage. I'm fine with him transforming into a tank, too. The fact that it's grey would mean it could be some sort of prototype - they could work it into the storyline somehow. I think this might make everyone happy, if the movie was well done as a whole, I mean. At some point, we could see a flashback of Cybertron, with all the bots we know and love in a great battle (like the Terminator series) - that way, we'll be able to see some of the cool but more slightly obscure characters, if only for a few seconds. This would be a great way to include the "original" versions of Soundwave and Megatron, and still have updated versions for the actual plot of the movie. Then, if there were a sequel (God willing the first one would be good enough), maybe we could see some actual shots of Cybertron and have characters like Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, etc.
