  1. My Blue Lion would have been here yesterday...if it hadn't been shipped to the wrong address. Explain to me why I call, change the shipping address to where I live now over the phone and find that it wasn't changed and, instead, the billing address was changed to house I lived in TWO moves ago. Sheesh! Now the adventure to get my Lion from the former residence. When did Matty say we could make changes to the subscriptions online?
  2. I am a latecomer to the series. My wife and I randomly started watching season 1 of the current series and have been hooked. Almost to season 3 and I don't think we'll be caught up by September 1st so we'll have to DVR. Why did it take so long to discover this show?
  3. Actually, from all of my friends who saw MIB3 I've been hearing very good things. It actually did good at the box office to. Not Avengers or DKR good mind you, but made a great profit. It's the reason the writers got a crack at the script. I haven't seen it, but only because I have a baby and it's lucky if I make it to the movies. I don't want to crap on Bill Murray. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be wearing my GB uniform in the avatar and I wouldn't have a room full of GB swag from Kenner and Matty. But I'm upset with him, not because he won't do the movie, but because he's been flip flopping on it so much. He wore a GB uniform to that Spike TV event for goodness sakes. It's like a woman in a super slutty outfit dancing in front of you and saying, "Just because I dress like I'm easy, doesn't mean I'm easy." I'd have more respect if he had just made a firm no or yes. Do I want GB3. Hell yes. I've wanted it since the rumors flared up in '99. I wanted it since I left GB2 as a kid. Could it end up being bad? Definitely! It could stink like a Superman IV. But it also could be good or great. We absolutely won't know until it happens. All fans are different. Some will say you're a fan if you want to have people leave what you love alone and let it remain a classic, some fans want to see good films or games or comics come out that keep their franchise going, and some will eat any pile of dog #$## that comes there way (Twilight fans I'm looking at you!). I'd like to say I'm that middle guy. Nothing that has come out in my adult life has ruined my childhood, though I've recognized some less that stellar sequels that come my way, I'm absolutely digging about 80% of the Before Watchmen series that's out, and I have hope that a new team of Ghostbusters if handled alright could bring a smile to my face. That would be my dream to take my lil' Spud to the movies to see Ghostbusters. Then he would grow up without all of the should they or should they not make this movie drama. He'd just know he saw a movie about some scientists catching ghosts, it'd be new to him, and, maybe, just maybe, it become the movie of HIS childhood. To each his own, folks, but I want GB 3.
  4. Wave 1 will not have have Red Robin and SB Prime, they're part of the "21st" wave of DCUC, the final wave with these two. Bats and Supes will be re-released in wave 1. LOL, but they're on the back of the CARD! UGH, there's one more wave, why make it so confusing?!?!? Actually, the reviews are for Batman and Superman from wave 21 of DCUC that is remnants of the All Star waves. It will include all four on the back of the card (Robin, Supes, Bats, and SB Prime). DC and Batman Unlimited have some slightly repainted Bats and Supes. It looks like Superman has a metallic blue to it.
  5. That have certainly set up an intriguing sequel. Blake becomes Batman, things go well at first, but he starts taking it to far with the criminals and Bruce returns to the scene. That would be cool, but Blake's character didn't seem like he could become such a thing. He even had that moment where he threw his gun away.
  6. I know what you mean. With the last name being Blake, it would have been cool to see the first name as Tim and some mention of his last name being different from adoption or something. But, like you said, it would be to obscure for the general movie going audience. Personally, I'm conflicted as to where I want the series to go next. I know that they'll be looking to get Bruce back in the suit with a Justice League movie on the horizon, but I think it would be intriguing to see where this story goes next and Blake's transformation into Batman. What I don't want to see is a continuation of the story with a quick fix that bring Bruce back to Gotham. Probably the best thing to do would get a new creative team and start in the middle of Batman's career in a new movie verse. We don't need to see another origin story. It might be fun to introduce a new Robin and use that story to reintroduce new comers to the Batman mythos.
  7. I haven't seen the totals, but what also will hurt them is that this is almost a 3 hour movie. That means fewer showings in a day. I thought it was great, though. Will be seeing it again this week.
  8. Obviously not going to 'lash' out at the critics for not liking the movie and, having not seen it, I can't comment on whether I agree with them or not, but it's interesting to see the few negative reviews and compare them to the positives. The people who liked it didn't just think it was cool. They think it's the best thing since sliced bread. That's why the average rating of 8.3 is right there at Dark Knight's 8.4 even though there are more negative reviews for DKR than DK that give it an 87% compared to DK's 92%. Can't wait to see it tomorrow night and share in the conversation.
  9. My local comic shop (Sci-Fi Genre) sold New 52 Batman for $16.99, much lower than suggested price. I hope that trend isn't expecting to end with the rest of these New 52 JLA figures or I'l be joining the rest of you.
  10. Pretty let down after that review. I love quick change superhero figures and recognize the limitations that come with them, but after the suit was put on he didn't look to fun to play with. The accessories are cool, but I'm not looking to buy the fig just for them.
  11. Very cool! Interested in seeing what the story attached to this is. The trailer implies that something sinister is turning heroes into our enemies. Love the armored look, too, of all the costumes.
  12. I'm a sucker for quick change superhero figures. They're usually terrible, but since being a kid I loved being able to take off Batman's mask. I hope we see some better pics soon of what the armor looks like on Bruce Wayne.
  13. Never thought to go to online pickup. I found the Walmarts around me to be extremely helpful with this. In the end I went out pallet diving one night and found them, but only because the associate let me know they were on their way.
  14. I guess I shouldn't have imagined much as it's free and all. I'm just upset that it ended up being something I already have two of. Recolor a proton stream into RGB colors or just give us an extra proton stream, something most need instead of something we far from need.
  15. Though this has already been moved, I want to bring it back to the original topic. Shazaam was mentioned many pages back as a possibility and I feel this opens up a new can of worms. How old is he in the New 52 as Batson? I can see a few people being more upset with someone making a younger kid gay than an adult. Not that it doesnt happen in real life. Someone my wife knows felt that way at 7. Still, I feel it would make it more controversial.
  16. Most not all straight males like girl/girl I don't know of a straight guy who wants to see two men kiss.I have nothing against gays but I don't want to see them kiss even if it was drawn Isn't that the problem though? Comic books are mostly made by men for male readers. Having Wonder Woman a lesbian doesn't help people embrace and acknowledge the alternative lifestyle. Rather, it straightens the stereotype of strong women portrayed in the media. It also doesn't help give inspiration to gay male comic readers - other than being a PR stunt, having more diverse characters help diverse individuals relate to them, hence giving them inspiration. The Blue Ear article is a good example of this - this is the main reason why I would love to see more diverse characters in comics. While it may be the majority, Not everyone who read comics are heterosexual white men. Why would a straight man embrace the gay lifestyle? There are people out there that don't feel comfortable with that. Why should it be pushed onto them? What will happen is they possibly will give up on the book if they don't like what they are seeing Let's face it. A straight man is not going to be able to relate to the romantic feelings of a gay man anymore than a gay man can relate to the romantic feelings of a straight man (feel free to swap out woman in that sentence, too). It's the way we're born and a matter of genetics. One of my friends who came out in college had trouble embracing the lifestyle, though his fear stemmed from persecution. He fought and fought and fought his feelings, even dated my ex, a female, AFTER coming out, but it didn't work. He is what he is. He was banned by the church, ostracized by his friends, and now a staunch atheist. DC is taking a risk here because I know there are many people that know little about, care little about, or uncomfortable with anyone who is gay and certainly don't want to see it invade their favorite shows, movies, and comics. And WE (that's all of us) will let them know our feelings on the subject with our purchase. Being 100% honest as a straight man that's not uncomfortable around members of the LGBT community, I'm not going to buy a new comic because it features and openly gay character. I'm also your typical fan of the big characters (Batman, Superman, Flash, GL) who rarely ventures from the usual unless really, really compelled. I'm interested in seeing what happens. I feel this might hurt DC unless they create a very compelling story and character. There are people like me who might skip out just because I usually do with any character I don't usually read, and there are people who will skip out because they don't want to read about a gay character. The variable is how many people from the LGBT community will start reading because of this. We'll see.
  17. This is a very odd and, I feel, dumb move. Next week marks the official release dates of the figures, so you're going to have a big merchandise push with all of these figures that kids aren't going to want because there's no movie. Does anyone else feel that a move like this speaks to the producers lack of confidence in the film's success?
  18. Now I'm even more sad that I missed out on this guy. Great looking figure!
  19. Anybody have a few names that fit this criteria. I haven't been heavily involved in the New 52.
  20. Actually it wasn't it was about the same as it is now.I had gay friends back then and nobody had to hide Hell never listen to politics they make it sound like the 80's were nazi germany for gays..Ever seen the gay bar in the Police academy movies america's more like Nazi Germany now with al the new laws being passed Its getting there Have hope. We're not there yet. And I imagine us becoming more like Britain in V for Vendetta.
  21. Just because people focus on one sin over another does not discredit the other sin........hope that makes sense.........You say you are a pastor then you should know what the bible says clearly about it and there is no getting around it. Every sin should be offensive including this one. In this world people fight for beliefs and those who support marriage in the way God intends it should be valored in their efforts. I think you made a good point about how people judge one sin over another but at the same time those who believe in the values of God fight for them, of course I don't mean in the way of attacking and hurting but through education and effort. Yes many of them are hurting and it is up to us to share them love and compassion but also with an intent at rehabilitation (another idea that gets downplayed but is a reality) to edify each other. Jesus preached on this type of hyprocisy that you mentioned and it should be noted along with the idea that believers do find something wrong with that particular lifestyle. I respect your views, but the Bible also clearly states that we can have slaves from other countries, it's an 'abomination' (same Hebrew word associated with homosexuality) to eat shellfish, and we should kill rape victims. However, I see no one preaching on how we should picket Red Lobster. My honest words of wisdom to anyone interested in or a part of the Christian faith is that the Bible 'clearly states' very few things, such as that God is love, we are called to forgive and not judge, and that salvation for ALL PEOPLES comes through Christ. Homosexuality is not mentioned often in the Bible and never by Christ. Plus, homosexuality during the writing of the Bible was never understood as a loving relationship between a man/man or a woman/woman, but as the rich and powerful who owned boy slaves for sexual purposes. The question I ask myself all the time is why are there certain things in scripture 'we' bypass and others 'we' deem important. I have come a long way in my views on homosexuality, from completely against it, to focusing on loving the 'sinner', to recognizing that my own sin prevents me from truly judging what sin is. That's God's work and the work of the Holy Spirit. And I came to this point of view, not by the liberal media or a gay agenda, but from reading the scriptures, understanding their histories, and realizing how powerful Christ's love truly is. But let me take a step back, because, at the end of the day, we are on a toy message board discussing comic books and this conversation, though somewhat relatable, is not the purpose of this board. The real question is why should something like homosexuality be devoid of our comic books or why can't an a lister turn out to be gay? Everyone's agendas and money making schemes aside, comics reach to a secular and religious world with varying beliefs and cultures. Where one can argue that they read comics for escapism and don't want to deal with issues such as homosexuality, a member of the LGBT community could find a strong gay or lesbian character in comics a way for them to have escapism from the persecutions of society they experience. Why should we neglect people of that? Glad you mentioned the "slaves" thing as well. When the bible mentions slaves there are multiple meanings for that word. There were slaves who were treated inproper as ownership of another like what we experienced here in America and abroad hundreds of years ago, but also a man could be a slave in service without negative treatment, almost like hired help. If you owe someone you could sell yourself to them as slaves to work off your debt, that is a different slave from the negative idea associated with the word. We have to rightly divide what the bible is saying because things mean things differently. Also you mentioned the whole shelfish thing, in the bible depending on what you believe certain practices and beliefs were resolved when Jesus died on the cross, shellfish and those others were........the issue at hand still stands as a practice that is unlawful to the Lord, plain and simple. Sure it doesn't give us the right to condemn for reasons you mentioned earlier at the same time we acknowledge it as a practice that is unlawful for those that believe. The bible is clear on the issue, it doesn't skirt around that, God made them male and female and said a man should never lie with a man. It makes no sense that we cannot point out sin, how else can we learn what was the purpose of it all. People also confuse judging...........when you judge without mercy or arrogance then that is where the error comes in at, we have ever right to judge and make laws and rules based on beliefs, in the bible they loved but they also rightly divided right from wrong and this issue is wrong according to the book. We cannot condemn without looking at ourselves honestly, that is where our love and mercy comes from, this is how we can love those who and learn to work with one another while affirming our belief with the lord..........whew, see what DC has started!!! You are right at the end of the day it is just a toy forum, but this is good commentary on how sharply divided our country is on the issue. Everyone here is an adult ad we all are on one fence or the other. The divide showcases a very real and serious situation for our country, I personally am tired of the liberal agenda and nonsense, though ironically I can't stand the so-called conservative agenda either, it is very troubling times. Lastly, I think you have a lot of love in your heart, we may disagree on particulars but you made it very clear you care about hurting people and that is a very real purpose for those who follow the Lord, that is why I don't always agree with the "bible belt, conservatives"..........Jesus could be stern but he dealt with sinners in a loving and caring way, helping them and nuturing them..........and I see that in you. Thanks for the compliment! And I do understand what you say regarding slavery. Doulos (I think that's how you spell it with our letters) does mean both slave and servant, and I know it was never the intention of the Bible's authors to create mistreated servants or to allude to an atrocity committed in our own country thousands of years later. But those atrocities all were justified by a misunderstanding of scripture. I merely ask that we really take time to understand this truth when it comes to any command from scripture. I also don't expect that anything I write in a few paragraphs of these boards that's going to affect a lifetime of one's beliefs. It took a long, long time of wrestling and learning to get where I am now and I still have a long, long, way to go until perfection. Enjoying these conversations. Sorry for being so 'preachy,' but it's kinda my call.

Why should we neglect people of that? I love when people refer to bible without any idea what they are talking about. The word for abomination is carried through many of the "do not do..." commandments, which include all of the sexual prohibitions. There is no where in the Torah that it says to kill rape victims, otherwise Dinah would've been killed. And yes, people do boycott Red Lobster- or when was the last time you saw an orthodox jew eating there? The bible also clearly prohibits men sleeping with other men as they would a woman... this has nothing to do with pedophelia, which is also forbidden. That being said, the only comics that appeal to me are ones that have action and adventure and its probably why i only buy old back issues now. If I want to read about relationships gay or straight there are plenty of other places for that other than comics. Comics have always been for children and i think its real sad when a mom are too afraid to buy their kid a Batman comic for fear of violence or sex. I don't know if this was spoken to me or not, but to clarify my background I have a Masters from Duke University that centers around Old and New Testament and Theology. Though this does not ever excuse me from error or mean I have all the answers, I'm not fond of being lumped into a category I don't belong in because you don't agree with my 'interpretation' as everything we share about scripture is interpretation.
