  1. I am a latecomer to the series. My wife and I randomly started watching season 1 of the current series and have been hooked. Almost to season 3 and I don't think we'll be caught up by September 1st so we'll have to DVR. Why did it take so long to discover this show?
  2. Wave 1 will not have have Red Robin and SB Prime, they're part of the "21st" wave of DCUC, the final wave with these two. Bats and Supes will be re-released in wave 1. LOL, but they're on the back of the CARD! UGH, there's one more wave, why make it so confusing?!?!? Actually, the reviews are for Batman and Superman from wave 21 of DCUC that is remnants of the All Star waves. It will include all four on the back of the card (Robin, Supes, Bats, and SB Prime). DC and Batman Unlimited have some slightly repainted Bats and Supes. It looks like Superman has a metallic blue to it.
  3. That have certainly set up an intriguing sequel. Blake becomes Batman, things go well at first, but he starts taking it to far with the criminals and Bruce returns to the scene. That would be cool, but Blake's character didn't seem like he could become such a thing. He even had that moment where he threw his gun away.
  4. I know what you mean. With the last name being Blake, it would have been cool to see the first name as Tim and some mention of his last name being different from adoption or something. But, like you said, it would be to obscure for the general movie going audience. Personally, I'm conflicted as to where I want the series to go next. I know that they'll be looking to get Bruce back in the suit with a Justice League movie on the horizon, but I think it would be intriguing to see where this story goes next and Blake's transformation into Batman. What I don't want to see is a continuation of the story with a quick fix that bring Bruce back to Gotham. Probably the best thing to do would get a new creative team and start in the middle of Batman's career in a new movie verse. We don't need to see another origin story. It might be fun to introduce a new Robin and use that story to reintroduce new comers to the Batman mythos.
  5. I haven't seen the totals, but what also will hurt them is that this is almost a 3 hour movie. That means fewer showings in a day. I thought it was great, though. Will be seeing it again this week.
  6. Obviously not going to 'lash' out at the critics for not liking the movie and, having not seen it, I can't comment on whether I agree with them or not, but it's interesting to see the few negative reviews and compare them to the positives. The people who liked it didn't just think it was cool. They think it's the best thing since sliced bread. That's why the average rating of 8.3 is right there at Dark Knight's 8.4 even though there are more negative reviews for DKR than DK that give it an 87% compared to DK's 92%. Can't wait to see it tomorrow night and share in the conversation.
  7. My local comic shop (Sci-Fi Genre) sold New 52 Batman for $16.99, much lower than suggested price. I hope that trend isn't expecting to end with the rest of these New 52 JLA figures or I'l be joining the rest of you.
  8. Pretty let down after that review. I love quick change superhero figures and recognize the limitations that come with them, but after the suit was put on he didn't look to fun to play with. The accessories are cool, but I'm not looking to buy the fig just for them.
  9. Very cool! Interested in seeing what the story attached to this is. The trailer implies that something sinister is turning heroes into our enemies. Love the armored look, too, of all the costumes.
  10. I'm a sucker for quick change superhero figures. They're usually terrible, but since being a kid I loved being able to take off Batman's mask. I hope we see some better pics soon of what the armor looks like on Bruce Wayne.
  11. Never thought to go to online pickup. I found the Walmarts around me to be extremely helpful with this. In the end I went out pallet diving one night and found them, but only because the associate let me know they were on their way.
  12. Though this has already been moved, I want to bring it back to the original topic. Shazaam was mentioned many pages back as a possibility and I feel this opens up a new can of worms. How old is he in the New 52 as Batson? I can see a few people being more upset with someone making a younger kid gay than an adult. Not that it doesnt happen in real life. Someone my wife knows felt that way at 7. Still, I feel it would make it more controversial.
  13. Most not all straight males like girl/girl I don't know of a straight guy who wants to see two men kiss.I have nothing against gays but I don't want to see them kiss even if it was drawn Isn't that the problem though? Comic books are mostly made by men for male readers. Having Wonder Woman a lesbian doesn't help people embrace and acknowledge the alternative lifestyle. Rather, it straightens the stereotype of strong women portrayed in the media. It also doesn't help give inspiration to gay male comic readers - other than being a PR stunt, having more diverse characters help diverse individuals relate to them, hence giving them inspiration. The Blue Ear article is a good example of this - this is the main reason why I would love to see more diverse characters in comics. While it may be the majority, Not everyone who read comics are heterosexual white men. Why would a straight man embrace the gay lifestyle? There are people out there that don't feel comfortable with that. Why should it be pushed onto them? What will happen is they possibly will give up on the book if they don't like what they are seeing Let's face it. A straight man is not going to be able to relate to the romantic feelings of a gay man anymore than a gay man can relate to the romantic feelings of a straight man (feel free to swap out woman in that sentence, too). It's the way we're born and a matter of genetics. One of my friends who came out in college had trouble embracing the lifestyle, though his fear stemmed from persecution. He fought and fought and fought his feelings, even dated my ex, a female, AFTER coming out, but it didn't work. He is what he is. He was banned by the church, ostracized by his friends, and now a staunch atheist. DC is taking a risk here because I know there are many people that know little about, care little about, or uncomfortable with anyone who is gay and certainly don't want to see it invade their favorite shows, movies, and comics. And WE (that's all of us) will let them know our feelings on the subject with our purchase. Being 100% honest as a straight man that's not uncomfortable around members of the LGBT community, I'm not going to buy a new comic because it features and openly gay character. I'm also your typical fan of the big characters (Batman, Superman, Flash, GL) who rarely ventures from the usual unless really, really compelled. I'm interested in seeing what happens. I feel this might hurt DC unless they create a very compelling story and character. There are people like me who might skip out just because I usually do with any character I don't usually read, and there are people who will skip out because they don't want to read about a gay character. The variable is how many people from the LGBT community will start reading because of this. We'll see.
