  2. i took this pic at the con in 2k2: http://www.silentcastle.com/share/chess.jpg not the bet picture, but its an oversized chess board using figures and vehix for pieces.... i can make out a few things from memory... one joe knight is a fully loaded polar battle bear one cobra knight is a ferret one joe castle is a skyhawk one cobra castle is a firebat hmmm i think ill drop the owner an email for better pics....at least if anyone is interested.
  3. First, congrats to Warren Hutchison AKA Falcon7 for winning last months prize, a loose complete Cobra Night Adder!! Enjoy! 4. did anyone catch this yet? or did it air? im only curious how someone can be so wrapped up in gi joe and spend that much money on their collection and not be known on any of the message boards. i havent' really checked around, but im going to now. i wonder how much of dr. phil's garbage is staged. of course, the guests in question could be 12 inch collectors.
  5. i think a combined con would be bad for both joe and transformers collectors and i bet MC knows that. i think this was mentioned in MN and i wanna say brian savage pretty much felt that the cons should stay separated also. as to location, i'm a huge fan of anywhere in the southeast!
  6. i also feel obligated to shed a little light on the links page update, here is the exact email sent to the webmasters of all sites on the old links page (yes...i personally visted and browsed through every site and emailed every webmaster) > The monumental task of updating the yojoe.com links page has begun! > > Your site has been visited and reviewed. All sites have been categorized and summarized. This is your opportunity to express your own opinion of how your site should be categorized. Please respond with a brief (20 words or less) summary of your page and where in the following categories you feel your site belongs. > > Trading Card game > Toys > Comics > Cartoons > Price Guides > International Information > Discussion/Forum > Fan Art > Fan Fiction > Dioramas/Customs > Personal Site/Collection Photos > News > Reviews > General 80s toys > Other > > Now I know that several sites offer more than simply one of the above, but what we are looking for here is the top draw for your site. If you *HAD* to pick just one (because you do, haha), which would it be? > > Please respond no later than the 10th of August. If you haven't replied by then, your site may no longer be listed on the links page at yojoe.com. > > Also please note that should your site listing on the links page need to be updated/deleted, please email links@yojoe.com with all the relevant information > > Thanks! > Justin Barnhill the purpose in the email wasn't to scare anyone into replying...it was to give the webmasters an opportunity to sound off about their own site. no one knows these sites better than the webmasters. the current updated links page is nothing more than the ACTIVE sites from the previous page with a revamped look. there might be a few new sites, but the bulk of the page contains the same links. only now they are sorted by main focus and each link has a short little blurb to help browsers know what to expect from the site. the only sites i removed were dead. any site still active is still linked to, but listed in an "archived" sites area. this is to help id sites that may still be online, but are no longer offering up new content. i feel these sites are still and asset and should still be there for as long as they stay up. at least, i didnt' intentionally remove any active sites. i also want to point out that i left off retail sites by design. iirc, there are only two sites that sell anything linked to from the links page. i really hate it that anyone feels negatively about the links page. its there to help not hinder. if you know of a site that isn't listed, feel free to email the details to links @ yojoe.com or jusdb @ yojoe.com. i have a links page update cooking, so keep an eye out. it may be a few days out still, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. thanks! Justin
  7. i have no idea on that one...i can only really speak in the realm of figures b/c thats really all ive been working on.
  8. i use these: http://www.silentcastle.com/share/storage/ def better than the plastic bags and cardboard boxes option!
  9. the problem here is that yojoe is always open to submissions....they just don't come. unfortunately, it looks like no one wants to spend the time to make better quality images - so you are stuck w/what you get. also realize that since the staff changes, naturally the quality of the images being offered would change. i mean, look at some of the images....from plain backgrounds, to the yojoe logo, to watermarked images...there have been changes all along im not defensive concerning the quality of the images, i actually appreciate jeff's mentioning a scanner....i recently (in the last two days or so) borrowed a scanner from a friend and am still playing around w/it to get the settings just where i want them. i am defensive when my commitment, "heart", or enthusiasm is called to question, as i think anyone would be. definately.....jeff's images are great.
  10. yep yep, all of the content of the site is fan generated. all of it. i think we are doing everything that can be done right now to get up to speed. in about two week's time, we've added: winter ops 6 pack crimson shadow guard 6 pack night watch 6 pack all of the 2005 con figures a wave dtc figures a comic pack a few misc updates here and there (FLAK and hammerhead) and revamped the links page (update coming soon!) not too shabby for a bunch of guys w/full time jobs and lives. i, for one, work 50+ hrs per week and am a full time husband. the fact that i'm able to get any work done on yojoe.com (or www.cobracommand.org) is amazing to me! id like to go back and update some of the pics on yojoe.com, some of mine included.....but the focus is to at least get everything up there asap. believe me, there are some pics up there worse than the ones i offered up. remember, the staff aren't necessarily the first people to get everything. if any of you have good pics of something that isn't up there, SEND THEM IN!! i hate that any pics are from my collection. if you see any errors or any pics that are just terrible, don't hesitate to email me jusdbATyojoe.com i remember how excited i was when my name first appeared on the contributors page @ yojoe.com (way back when) and i think it'd be great if everyone had that feeling. one thing i want everyone to know, i dont think anyone should ever question the staff of yojoe.com's commitment to the hobby or community. i've known some of the staffers for years and they have never wavered in their support of GI Joe.
  11. glad im not paid to be a photographer. i like to think im improving! 90% of the pics ive taken in the past have been a whole diff ball of wax and ill def. echo redclaw's statements above...if you have better pics, by all means send them in. its easy to point out a problem w/o offering up a solution. thanks! Justin
