  1. Statue looks cool. I wonder if we'll get the Steelbook in Canada like we did with Arkham City.
  2. I am pretty confident a part 2 will be followed soon. Just the fact that it's Dark Knight Returns and Peter Weller being cast is enough of an appeal than many previous DC original animated movies. I don't think the Dark Knight Returns animated is being stretched at all. Just take a look at the run time. Even the trade paper back for Dark Knight Returns have 2 books.
  3. Working in retail I can tell you thats not necessarily true. 90% Of the items we clearance we loose money on (at my job anyways). Some items the MFG will take back for a partial credit but most items are just lost money. Usually it's more profitable to take a small loss on the old product (to get different salable things out) then to leave the old non selling things there. However I do agree with you about Mattel, they have been fleecing me for awhile now... Thanks for the insight. Still, the way I see it, Mattel profits more when they sell their toys directly and not through retail. I just can't justify the high price tag. Perhaps the Mattel execs are willing to take a cut? Oh, also try to cancel some toy lines that's not too appealing like the Evergreen Batman series.
  4. I don't think DCUC focused mostly on Super/Bats characters. We've got a variety of DC characters from all corners. We've even got Swampthing and Kamandi.
  5. Considering how retailers can discount them for $10 and still make a profit. There's a $30 profit for Mattel there. Will I bite it and spend $50 on just 2 figures with no base? Hell No!

    Canada

I'm surprised that my comic shops are asking for $19.99 each for the Classics TMNT while Toys R Us is pricing them for $21.99 I believe.
  7. I like your creativity with the YMCA pose although Donatello might find it hard to pull a "Y"

    NOW IS THE TIME

From what I understand. A pre-order system would have worked equally well for everyone. What Mattel is trying to do right now is trying to eliminate the possibility of non popular characters not selling equally well as the fan demanded ones. When this happens in retail we call them peg warmers. When this happens to Matty, we're asked to buy a sub.
  9. Would love to see more Batman figures from Batman and Batman Returns. Heck! I'll be open for Batman Forever and Batman&Robin as well.
  10. To be fair, The Dark Knight Rises is made by an experienced director together by an experience movie studio unlike the movie who will not be named. Box office means nothing but money. Dark Knight Rises is a way better movie and has deeper meanings than just explosions. I thought TDKR schooled the studio who will not be named in every way. Besides money of course.
  11. I just think people were reading too much with John Blake being Robin. Basically it just means that his full name is Robin John Blake. Doesn't mean he wears colorful tights or a tool for Batman to dodge bullets. It's only a nice nod to Batman's sidekick Robin, that's it.
  12. I wouldn't say it's a review of the teaser trailer. It's just silly! It more like thoughts and comments right? I'm pleased to see how fresh and different it looks. As mentioned it feels very modern but at the same time says nothing Superman about it. I'm thinking this movie can either be very good and well praised or a split of good and bad reviews like Superman Returns. Now I'm starting to regret that I wasn't able to work on it.
  13. I just find it interesting that there was no mentioning of this 8" Batman anywhere before and a friend of my surprisingly saw this in Hong Kong Toys R Us. Now it's online only in North America. It was retailed for HKD$400 so that means US$50? I think Matty might be asking for $40-45 for the 8" Batman.
  14. I personally think the new Nick toon turtles figures are the best sculpts Playmates have released so far. It does feel cheap that they didn't paint the weapons but with a price point so affordable I can't complain. Also took advantage of the 20% off and free shipping. Pre-ordered the 11" turtles. Figured they won't show up in Canada for a while.

  16. http://youtu.be/aHRfxzictiM What do you guys think? I think the opening is pretty cool. Pay attention to the end, a really nice nod to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one shot cover art.
  17. I'm actually very disappointed that we asked for a movie masters kilod based on Batman to Batman and Robin, Supermam to Supermam Returns and we get a toy line based on the AdamWest show? What's next? A new toy line based on Lois and Clark?
  18. Playmates usually say great attention to detail for the Turtles but the rest of the cast is usually where they cut corners. Really bad articulation, cutting down accessories. The new Splinter only comes with a stick! It's got to be a joke, Splinter and Stick!
  19. Finally got a chance to open my toys. I was only able to open Leo and Raph tonight and then my camera's battery died. I'm really like the turtles so far. The plastic used feels soft so it's easy to place the weapons in the turtles hands without worrying that the paint might scratch off.(Although no paint was applied to the weapons nor were the inner palms were painted) I really like how Playmates chose softer plastic for the front shell to allow more mobility for the legs. Guess what? The weapon racks from the vintage line are back. So far I think only the turtles and April comes with a weapons rack. More pics and comments to come
  20. ??? I dont think so...looks like any crappy Batman variant made for the kiddie line That's why I used the quotation marks, to me it's just the article being sensationalist. I saw this batman at Target the other day. Nothing special even if the costume is in the movie. Read the article and checked the unaltered pic. if true, they spoiled it for me; not seeing the toy, but reading the image caption. Again, if this is true, this surprise would be the 2nd time someone ruined a Batman film for me. The first was on the forums here when the First Nolan Bat film came out in theaters. Two posters, with no spoiler tags, were wishing Mattel should make a real movie Ras figure that wasn't Asian since it was the only figure that was missing in the line despite that there was a Duncan figure already in the line. Why can't people try not to spoil things? The cooltoyreview article, if true, is written such a way where it wants to spoil the reader. While it is true that they did put a spoiler alert in the article, they could have spoiler tagged the caption and just put " Stealth Vision (spoiler tags inserted here with spoiler) Batman". Relax, it's probably just another Batman variant which we all learn to hate. It's a 4 pack sold in Toys R us or Wal Mart. If it's such an important character in the movie it would have been featured in the 6" Movie Masters line instead of another police character.
  21. I saw the news on the Technodrome fansite forum. Some nice fellow posted a link to Target's website to check if their local Targets have the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys in stock. I think so far the new TMNT toys at Target are not on the shelves yet but Target staff should be able to ring the toys and sell them. I called the Target closest to me and confirmed that they do have them. So I drove all the way down to the States. At first the staff I asked couldn't find the item with the DPCI number I gave him. I then went to the customer service desk and she was able to look them up on her computer to found out that they are still in the back room. The staff there was nice enough to bring out a new and open it for me to grab a set.
  22. Goofy? you mean stylistically true to an era of the character, but not your preferred era? i dont know how to explain it. i mean take michelangelo in the trailer. there was a huge explosion just behind him and all he sees is a pizza place. yess its fun but to it takes something away. like this character cant be taken seriously for one moment. its always fun fun fun. i know leo and raph are the serious guys in the show. sure its for kids but i dont know, maybe i just see it with grownup eyes. I think he meant Batman Brave and Bold. Anyway, I really don't want to judge the new series based on one short trailer. I'm going to watch the first couple of episodes anyway but I don't think there's any chance it's going to stand up against the 2003 show which was faithful to the original comics and at the same time included some clever updates to make the mythology fresh. Nano is probably my favorite original character from the show. The original new back story for Hamato Yoshi was also well written and the nod to Bruce Lee was hard to not notice. I guess the 90s really was the best era of American cartoons.
  23. I was expecting a teaser trailer on your website. Oh well. The 3D models on your facebook page looks great. Can't wait.
