  1. Has Hasbro made some mistakes, yes. Does it suck there's going to be barely any new product this year, yes. But despite the numerous setbacks Hasbro still managed to pull off a few good items for consumption this fall, as evidenced at Toyfair. So while G.I. Joe and COBRA may be down they're not out. The franchise has had it's peaks and valleys since it made it's return at the turn of the millennium and even though Hasbro has driven us all to pull our hair out at times with their formulaic 'one step forward, two steps back' routine, those of us who have kept the faith have been well rewarded. So just keep the faith my fellow Vipers and Greenshirts.

  2. The entire "Arise, Serpentor, Arise" story arc. I always thought it was just a cool story of how COBRA creating this 'Frankenstein' type being who would be the ultimate leader. Serpentor himself would probably have proven more popular if Hasbro hadn't designed him to look so MOTU. Plus the 5 episodes of Arise also heavily focused on COBRA and its members and inner workings and that for me was also a big draw.

  3. 1) Is the Sigma 6 IRON Hammer mold going to be modified to accommodate 3 3/4" scale figures or is a whole new mold being made of the vehicle, only larger?

    2) Are any other vehicles from the 2.5" S6 line being considered to be remade in 3 3/4" scale (Night VAMP, Street Razor, Talon)?

    3) When will we see previews of the mecha vehicles that both Joe and COBRA will be getting in fall 2010?

    4) Are there any troop builder sets planned, either general release or retail chain exclusives?

    5) Activision recently announced that they were developing a new Transformers video game, not based on the TF movies. Are there plans for any new G.I. Joe video games, not based on the ROC continuity?

    6) What studio is animating the new G.I. Joe animated series, currently in development?

  4. One word people . . . . LAME!

They couldn't even use the new Viper from the upcoming COBRA 5-pack, with the chrome face plate shield and fixed hands?! Bad enough TRU decides to the do a figure that's already clogging shelves, they couldn't have picked a hard to find one like the B.A.T., or EEL or even a figure that hasn't even been available on single card like the IRON Grenadier.

    This blows.

But, with the movie coming out in August, hopefully TRU will be doing a LOT more troop builder packs.

  5. I really like the exclusives Hasbro and various retailers put out there (when they're done well). Mainly since I find it easier to find them a lot of times then mainline product which is sold mostly in mass retail stores like Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Mart which are not always well stocked or well kept when it comes to their toy products. Perfect examply would be the new Extreme Conditions troop builder packs; BBTS and Entertainment Earth make it easier for a COBRA army builder for myself to get my hands on as many of these sets as I want without having to spend money on gasoline and hours hunting in various stores to find them. The same could be said for the TRU exclusives which have been the only constant G.I. Joe product at my local TRU for last three months.

  6. BBTS has updated their website with the correct lineup for the Desert Assault Squad and it does not include that horrible kitbashed Croc Master.

    New Listing

The image of the set has been updated that includes a second desert camo CG.

So everyone who still wants Croc Master (myself included) will just have to pick him up when he's released on single card in September, which by the way is a much better figure then that frankensteined piece of junk that was on the BBTS and TNI websites.

  7. You guys throw around the term anime so much now days it's hard to determine what you consider really anime anymore. Watching this I did not feel I was watching anime. Yes the image I linked to is for a anime show and one I don't watch so I don't know if the overall styles match or not but the specific image itself I posted a link for, to me doens't look anime. Is there some anime influences....maybe but technically you can say the same thing about the original series. I mean when I think of Anime, I think of something that looks like this

    http://comicsnewsi.net/g/?mode=view&al...00&start=30

and thats not what this series looked like. Another example to give you an idea might be the MOTU series from a couple years ago. It's hard to describe though without seeing it yourself, I wish Hasbro would show the clip online. I think it's a mistake on their part not to, but unfortunetly I don't get to make those decisions.

Well JayC you are right, Empty Empire is 100% Anime/Manga. But Avatar is more like an American style clone of Anime and I do understand what you mean by the fact that most people associate any animated show that has characters with big eyes to be Anime, which they're not, and is a very ignorant thing to do. The 2000 MOTU series on the other hand I'd definitely say was completely Western animation style and even though I've never been a He-Man fan, that series was very well done. And yes it's also true that the original 80's G.I. Joe series was somewhat Anime influenced (one of the most popular Japanese Anime creators in Japan, Satoshi Urushihara worked on the original RAH cartoon) but the original Joe toon is not Anime, not in the least bit.

So from what I've heard about this new series, from those few lucky enough to actually see it, this will not be a new G.I. Joe Anime series like Sigma 6 (which I state again I liked, except for the writing) but a regular Western American looking Joe toon, despite whatever Anime styles and tricks the people at J & M Studios copied.

  8. Entertainment Earth now has the COBRA troop-builder packs up for pre-order as well, for the same prices that BBTS has them for coincidentally, and EE's description of the Desert Assault Squad lineup is:

5x Cobra Desert Assault Squad (Cobra Flamethrower Trooper, 2x Desert Crimson Guard, Hostile Environment Specialist Cobra Trooper, Major Bludd, Explosives Expert Cobra Trooper, and Cobra Officer)

    Entertainment Earth Listing

So I think it's safe to say that the Croc Master image is bogus.

  9. So it's Anime 'knock-off'. See this is what I find is so tragic about the Sigma 6 series. Hasbro got an actual Anime studio, GONZO, to do a G.I. Joe animated series, and even though the animation was great the storytelling was crap. Now Hasbro wants to do a more adult-oriented series with much better writting (Warren Ellis is Frank Miller on drugs) and instead of getting an actual Japanese Anime studio to do the animation they go for some 'western Anime-like' style.

Oh well, here's hoping for the best.

  10. Wraith, Croc Master, Para-Viper all winners and I will definitely be army building the Para-Viper.

The bazooka trooper on the other hand is 6 shades of lame. @grumpy@

Can't wait to see what else Hasbro has got planned not to mention it'll be nice to see some better pics of those new TRU COBRA troop builder sets hopefully tommorrow.

It's dissapointing to hear that the 25th line will cease once the movie product hits but hopefully it'll make a comeback after the movie buzz dies down like with the TF Classics line. I'm hopefull that movie will rock but if Sommers blows it, I'm going to be pissed that our 25th/Modern Era figure line got put on hold for a !$&@tty Joe movie.

  11. Well, I said this when we all heard the news about her being casted, but my initial objections about her playing Baroness were 1, she wasn't a natural brunette, and 2, she's got no chest. So, Sommers only has himself to blame for not casting someone better fit for the part.
