I am currently reading the entire mainstream marvel universe from the start. !!! (to me, the mainstream MU started in the silver age, with the appearance of the FF. I started this a few months back, and I am about 4 years into it chronologically.
so right now I am in april, 1966. current issues at that time:
Tales to Astonish #78 (starring Namor and Hulk)
Amazing Spiderman #35
Fantastic Four #49
Strange Tales #143 (starring Nick Fury and Dr.Strange)
Tales of Suspense #76 (starring Ironman and Captain America)
Thor #127 (it just changed the title from Journey into Mystery)
Avengers #27 (currentyly featuring a crappy team of Cap, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver)
X-men #19
Daredevil #15
That sounds like a good time.
I love that stuff. First bunch of Spider-mans, first bunch of Fantastic Four and first 25 issues or so of Avengers are some of my fave comics.
I seldon buy comics anymore. They are just too expensive. But I'll go by the library and pick up trades. I just got through reading the first 5 or 6 trades of the new X-Factor, which is pretty rad, I love that Peter David.
yeah, it is pretty fun. some of the very first stuff was pretty rough to read because it was so cheesy, but it is surprising how quickly these comics improved. the evolution is really interesting to read through. But I can't say that I like them all
Tales to Astonish- is one of my favorites at this point. I love Namor and Hulk, so it's great. But it started out with Antman stories for the first few years.. and most of those were pretty dull
Amazing Spiderman - I can really see why Spidey became the favorite almost instantly. His comic is easily the most well-written and interesting of the bunch. Even way back then, they focused alot on Peter's life too, and his problems directly influence Spiderman as well. It's good stuff, always a fun read.
Fantastic Four - the FF at this point is usually pretty decent, but they have had their share of really boring issues. Foretunately, things are picking up, as they just introduced the Inhumans and now Galactus and Silver Surfer.
Strange Tales - has been my least favorite from the start. It originally starred Human Torch and some other tales. Then they added Dr.Strange (who is a cool character, but has VERY boring stories). recently, they dropped Torch and added Nick Fury Agent of Shield. The Nick Fury stuff is good, Dr.Strange stories suck
Tales of Suspense - started with Ironman stuff and other tales.. then they added Captain America. The Ironman stuff is solid. The Cap stories started out slow because they were mostly WWII flashbacks
Thor - one of my favorites. Thor is always a good read. and the back end features Tales of Asgard, so that's cool too.
Avengers - started out good with Ironman, Thor, Giantman, Cap.. then they took out the main guys and added Hawkeye, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.. and now it stinks. every issue features Cap and Hawkeye bickering like children, really annoying .
X-men - it's a toss up. Can sometimes be pretty good, and other times just sucks. I can't wait until they get to Giant Size #1
Daredevil - DD is cool, but most of his villains are terrible. So he can be tough to read at times

How are you doing that? Original copies, reprints, on-line, masterworks...?
original copies of course. I am a secret millionaire. I like to sit in my mansion, get out my white gloves so that I don't get finger oils on the pristine pages, and read comics while I look over the veranda.
nah.. got digital copies #US1#

I am fine with it

seriously... I would have taken the green suit with yellow lightning bolts
uhhh. no.
BUT, I am sure we can all find hundreds of fan-made Spiderman costumes that look terrible too. And look at how well that translated to the big screen.
Spiderman's costumes in his movies look the best out of any comic-movie character, by far.
so I am certain that if Spidey's bright red/blue costume can work in a movie, than so can ANY other costume

found ML Wrecking Crew Thunderball at Wal-Mart...strange restock...better late than never
that is strange. I have never even seen him myself
-
I haven't looked for a couple weeks.. but before that I was seeing him all day
-
It looks like someone screwed up putting them in the system. That $29.99 price is for the MU 3-packs. Which is what the new MLs are ringing up as. I checked the price with one of the scanners on Protector Sunday & it said MU pack or something instead of Marvel Legends. So someone blew it. Badly.
WHAT? I went to TRU last week. Mu 3-packs were 19.99 , ML figures were 18.99 or something I think.

YODA!!!!????

looks good to me!

Justin Upton , .389, 5 HR through 5 games. Pretty solid. (At this pace, he is projected to end he season with 162 homers)
only if he plays the Cubs for 155 games
-
Cubbies are undefeated !!!
Thanks for the victory last night!
ugh. that was heartbreaking. but something we are used to with marmol.
and sadly, the Cubs will probably never have a winning record again for the rest of the season.

I'd start off here:
http://marvelousnews.com/database/index.php?itemid=164
our sister site has a real nice database of almost all the 4" figures from MU, IM2, Wolverine,Avengers,Thor, etc. Click through and you might find a couple versions to choose from for each character.
exactly what I was going to say.
except I wouldn't call it a "sister" site lol. it's more like a different section of the entertainment news international brand

Yes! You're right...I forgot about that figure. The sad part is, I actually have that figure too. (lol) Mine has a funky hip joint though that doesn't seem to work right. I'd like to have another one, but I'd hate to buy a whole other set just for one figure. But yeah, that is my favorite Beachhead update. I'd love to see it repainted in his classic colors.
here he is!!! that's what I am talking about.
unfortunately, he is in the concept case
those cases always have the best figures at the con
-
it's like Hasbro read my mind! look at that concept case! Those figures are so beautiful! I really, really, hope that they do get released soon.
Destro, Gung Ho, Flint, Leatherneck, Beachhead, HEATviper, etc..
-
also tried to confirm we would be getting any thing next year, John Warden said it's in the works, they are working on it now, very vague, and he straight admitted wave 4 depends on sales (that includes night viper, jinx, and blindmaster)
yeah I know.. I need that Nightviper!
if they don't do wave 4.. then what will they release instead??
and yeah.. those Concept figures are killing me. THOSE are the figures they should be releasing! perfection!
-
wave 4 sounds iffy? whaaaaaat?
come on Hasbro.. help us out! help us help you!
-
meh, I vote Vader

Well, seeing an actual producton Eaglehawk, come out of the box, and being assembled and stickers being applied was kind of new... kinda. But yeah, kind of a bummer, still hoping the Club shows us a lil' something.
at least we can see that the Eaglehawk is pretty much the same thing as the Tomahawk, for those that were worried it would be smaller or cheapened out like they did with the new Skystriker
-
awe.. I voted for artoo !
-
ugh. that is a huge bummer
-
I'll have to go back and compare but it seems like Asp's colors have changed slightly. working on my own reviews, the real highlight for me have been Steeler, chuckles, and Freestyle.
you get any figs that you don't want? lol
up for sale or trade?

2013 Joecon Night Force: 3.75" Nocturnal Fire Box Set Video Review
you know, when we first saw these figures in the promo pics a while ago, I really liked them.
After seeing this video review, I LOVE them.
thanks to the folks at Moderately Geeky for the cool video review
